Senate Health Care Bill will lead to Tax Revolt

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: America, Politics, Taxes, health care

2074 Pages!  Holy freakin’ hell people!  That bill is even bigger than the damned House version.  Here is just a short list of the taxes that are in this bill – hmm…I thought Obama promised no taxes on the middle-class?

5% Tax on Cosmetic Surgery

40% Tax on “Cadillac Plans” – If you’re single in the cost of your employer based plan is $8,500, and family plan is $23,000 – there will be a 40% tax.

Increase from 1.45 to 1.95% in Medicare tax

$4 Billion in Fees on Medical Device manufacturers (you don’t think this will be passed on to consumers?)

$5 Billion in Fees to pharmaceutical manufacturers (ditto above)

If you don’t have insurance and you “qualify” to be insured, if you’re single you will pay a$95 surchage in 2014 and it raises to $750 in 2016.  A family will have a surcharge of $2250 by 2016.

If an employer has at least 50 employees and does not offer an insurance plan, if they have at least 1 employee who “qualifies” to be insured, that employer will be fined $750 per employee.  That is a minimum penalty of $37,500 just to start off with for only 50 employees.  This will kill small businesses.

It eliminates HSA’s altogether.  It puts a cap on FSA’s at $2,500.  You can’t use your HSA account to pay for over-the-counter medication any longer…and..it raises the medical expenses tax deduction from 7% to 10% of AGI.

In addition, it takes $500 Billion out of Medicare funding.

UPDATEIncludes a monthly “abortion premium fee” to be assessed on everyone that is enrolled in the government run plan.

This is just a short list right now.  I will update this post through out the day as I learn or hear about more.  The word “tax” is mentioned in this bill 124 freakin times! And..just to show you that those idiots up there in Washington have no clue about how insurance works – they added this little piece:

They also would limit total out-of-pocket expenses and prevent insurance companies from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions.

Insurers under the Democratic plans would be barred from charging higher premiums based on a person’s gender or medical history.

They obviously don’t know how underwriting works.  This will either drive costs up for everyone because we will ALL be subsidizing those with chronic illnesses, or it will drive private insurers out of business because they can’t pay the claims because there is no money to cover the chronically ill.  Also, there is a HUGE difference between genders and health care costs.  To not be allowed to increase premiums to cover those costs is ludicrous.  There is no such thing as “one-size-fits-all” insurance coverage unless the premiums are skyhigh for all.

Oh – and did I mention it has a public option?  For cryin’ out loud already!  This bill has absolutely nothing to do with improving the health care system and providing for access to affordable health care.  This is simply the largest power grab by our government in the nation’s history.  This is AMERICA.  We are FREE people.  We do NOT want to live under an oppressive and socialist government.

I predict that if this bill passes – there will be an absolute huge tax revolt in this country.  I will be the first to stand up against it and tell our government – HELL NO! I’m not paying my damned taxes for them to fund something that 34% of this country wants! I believe we’re going to something that will eclipse the Boston Tea Party.  I don’t see any violence erupting – but – you can bet there will indeed be a revolution in this country.

The government gets their power from our taxes.  We can shut this thing, and them, down if we stop giving them our money.  Are they going to arrest 66% of this country if we all refuse to pay our taxes?  We don’t have to support our Federal government at all.  They are pushing things on us that are unconstitutional and we need to stand against it.  If this thing passes – it’s time for the Tea Parties to take it to the next level – a REAL Tea Party Tax revolt.

Yes, the new health care bill DOES cover abortions.

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: Christian, Congress, Constitution, P-BO, Politics, Religion, Taxes, government, health care

Despite what P-BO and the rest of the liberal Dems have been saying – the fact remains that taxpayer funded abortions are covered under this monstrosity.

Health Care Issues: Paying for Abortions

Before I get in to some of the details – I will put it on record that I am anti-abortion – as if some of you hadn’t already figured that out.  I believe that all life is sacred – and especially the unborn that don’t have a voice.

HOWEVER – it is not my responsibility to tell another individual they can’t have an abortion.  My anti-abortion position comes from my religious and moral belief.  To me, abortion is outright murder.  Unfortunately, the SCOTUS has legalized this form of murder.  But, God is the real judge.  Those who have abortions and kill their unborn children will have to confront Him one day to plea their case.

Having said that – let’s move on – from the link above:

A look at key issues in the health care debate:

THE ISSUE: Would new health care legislation allow abortions to be funded with tax money?

THE POLITICS: Abortion opponents say proposed government-sponsored health insurance plans would change federal policy by paying for abortions in many cases. For years, a restriction in the law that governs Medicaid — health insurance for the poor — has barred federal funding of abortions except in cases of rape, incest and danger to the mother’s life. The proposed legislation would permit government-sponsored health plans, open to non-Medicaid patients, to cover abortions. In seeking a political compromise, a House version would require publicly sponsored plans to pay for abortions with private funds from customers’ premiums, not tax dollars. Critics call the requirement meaningless. They say public and private sources of insurance funding would essentially go into, and come out of, one big pot.

WHAT IT MEANS: Women with private insurance plans that cover abortion might be able to switch to a less-expensive public plan without losing that coverage. Anti-abortion activists would feel they’ve lost an important battle, as taxpayer funds mingle with some insurance plans that, one way or another, pay for abortions.

So – here’s the deal-i-o, this bill has no way of keeping private money from taxpayer money – as stated above – ergo – we taxpayers will be funding abortions.  For the 92% of us in this country that are religious – regardless of religious belief – we have a first amendment right to our belief.  I know that Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism all believe that abortion is immoral (I can’t say for the others, however, these alone represent a little more than 80% of the population – full breakdown is here).  As such, it would be a violation of our first amendment rights for our taxpayer dollars to fund these abortions.

I said earlier that it is not my place to tell someone they can’t have an abortion.  However, when MY tax dollars may potentially be funding those abortions – HELL YES I have a right and it is my place to tell you HELL NO you can’t have that abortion.  You made the mistake – you either pay for it yourself or you have the child.  I won’t pay for it.

Before you libbers jump all over me for that last statement – let’s look at the statistics – of the approximately 1.5 million abortions performed annually in the United States – only 7.2% of those are due to risk to maternal health (2.8%); risk to fetal health (3.3%), or other (includes incest and rape – 2.1%).  The remaining 92.8% are mistakes and the woman is using abortion as a form of birth control:

  • Wants to postpone childbearing:  25.5%
  • Wants no (more) children:  7.9%
  • Cannot afford a baby:  21.3%
  • Having a child will disrupt education or job: 10.8%
  • Has relationship problem or partner does not want pregnancy: 14.1%
  • Too young; parent(s) or other(s) object to pregnancy: 12.2%
  • I’m sorry – but these are not legitimate excuses for having an abortion. In every one of those cases those babies could have been put up for adoption to other families that so frightfully want children but are unable to. Abortions are selfish – and – I’m not going to pay for it. These provisions need to be stripped from any bill that even attempts to reform our health care system.

    Obama administration reverses position on offshore drilling!

    Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: China, Congress, Democrats, Liberals, Obama, Politics, Taxes, energy, government, oil

    It appears that while Obama signed an executive order earlier this year banning offshore drilling once again off the American coast – they have decided that offshore drilling is actually a good idea.  In fact, we taxpayers will be funding offshore drilling to the tune of $2,000,000,000.00.  Wow – it’s about time, right?

    WRONG! Perhaps I should mention that Obama is funding this $2 Billion to PetroBras – The state of Brazil – as reported in The Wall Street Journal

    The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil’s Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil’s planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan.

    The U.S. Export-Import Bank tells us it has issued a “preliminary commitment” letter to Petrobras in the amount of $2 billion and has discussed with Brazil the possibility of increasing that amount. Ex-Im Bank says it has not decided whether the money will come in the form of a direct loan or loan guarantees. Either way, this corporate foreign aid may strike some readers as odd, given that the U.S. Treasury seems desperate for cash and Petrobras is one of the largest corporations in the Americas.

    Let’s put those $Real figures in to American dollars – at today’s exchange rate of 1.84 Reals to 1 U.S. Dollar the total net earnings are $116,911,957.  Net Income is $17,928,261.  Their total investments are $30 Billion.  This is a state owned oil company.  The Obama administration is providing $2 Billion to another country that has $30 Billion in investments for offshore oil exploration – OFF THE SHORES OF BRAZIL!  WTF? This is the same country that just signed a deal in February to supply China with 58,000,000,000 barrels of oil per year.  So – essentially, we Americans are funding Brazil to explore and drill off their own shores in order to provide oil to another country.

    Oh – Did I mention that George Soros is the major stakeholder in PetroBras? He personally holds $900,000,000 in shares of PetroBras.  So, who really benefits by Obama giving PetroBras this $2 Billion?  It sure as hell isn’t we the American people who are actually paying for it.  This is just another payoff to his corporate pal Soros and to China.

    When are you people on the left going to realize that Obama doesn’t give a shit about we Americans, the poor, or the middle class?  He only cares about paying off all of his corporate buddies.  You thought GWB was in the tank with corporations – the entire freakin’ Obama administration and every single freakin spending bill that has been put out there in the last 7 months were payoffs to large corporations that donated to him.

    Who do you think benefits the most if the healthcare bill passes?  It sure isn’t we the American people – it will be GE, George Soros, PhRma, the SEIU, GMMB, and AKPD, just to name a few.  I have a hard-core liberal cousin who lives in Pittsburgh.  During one of our conversations prior to the elections he said he was voting for Obama because Obama wasn’t in the pocket of big corporations like Bush was and that Obama was going to take the power away from corporate America and give it back to the people.  Hmmm…I wonder how that is working out now?  I’m gonna have to give him a call now!

    Anyway – to get back to the main point – while I think this is a slap in the face of all Americans and absolutely exposes the hypocrisy of the left that they would fund offshore drilling in a leftist country but absolutely ban all offshore drilling in America – as the news gets out on this – I believe more Americans will start to wake up.  The left no longer has a leg to stand on when it comes to offshore drilling.  We Americans are paying dearly at the pump and the leftists in D.C. are forcing Cap and Tax on us that will continue to drive up prices at the pump and in our homes – yet – they will finance oil exploration outside of the country.  We are being screwed once again by our own government – and for what?  How does this deal make any freakin sense at all?  This just proves that the Cap and Tax is a scam.

    Why would a company worth $30 billion and has a lucrative long-term contract with China need our taxpayer dollars to drill in their own waters?  They don’t.  I’m going to say it again – this is a round about way to payoff Soros and China using our money.  Call your representatives and senators and tell them to drop this deal.  In this stagnant economy – we can’t afford to subsidize other countries – nevertheless the 7th largest oil producer in the world.

    I also found out that other bloggers have picked up on this as well:

    Yes, I know – I’ve been absent and this is a day late.  The family and I decided to take a break and we headed off to Disney for a week.  Yes, I had access to the computer, my blog, and my e-mails – but – I decided to really just unplug completely.  It really does a world of good to unplug and just enjoy the family.  I’ll put up some pix later this week with some more details of the vacation.  In the meantime, here is this week’s Carnival.  Lots of stuff to get through!  I have commented on some.  For those who I haven’t had a chance to get to – I’ll be back later to read, review, and comment.

    And I’m not sure Ms. Aggarwal is the only one making these statements either.  With Obamacare – it will practically doom our medical industry as well as no one will want to be a practicing physician here in the U.S. under his strict rules.  Physicians will no longer be making the decisions about our healthcare, D.C. bureaucrats will have all the power of our health and health care.

You’ll notice we have some new contributors, regular contributors, and contributors from the past posting up again. Thanks to you all for making this the Carnival that it is!

    Conservative

    David Lamb presents When Treasuries Crowd Out Lending posted at Killer Buffalo.

    David – welcome back!  Haven’t seen you around in a while.  I take it you’re getting prepared for your college years now! LOL…enjoy them!  In this article, I found it interesting that you attributed the recession to “skyrocketing interest rates.”  Actually, I’m still waiting for them to increase.  In 1990 when I bought my first home, it was at an 11% interest rate – and that was normal back then.  My car loan was at 14% – again, normal in 1990.  I would hardly say our interest rates have “skyrocketed.”  With the prime lending rate still floating around 4% – I would say the cause of this recession has been the lack of the fed to stabilize the markets by actually, and truly, increasing interest rates.  If you want people to invest – you need to raise the interest rates.  The best I can get on my CD’s right now is 3.5% if I go out 3 years.  My Money Market is only earning 1% interest.  I remember in 1990 when I could get 10 – 12% on my short-term CD’s.  The best way for this economy to stabilize and to bring investors back in to the market is to raise interest rates.  So – if you want to attribute this recession to interest rates – I would actually attribute it to the falsely deflated interest rates.

    Jared Rhoads presents The Lucidicus Project posted at The Lucidicus Project, saying, “If the proposed public option for health insurance becomes law, then we may as well have Fannie Mae run it.”

    “Fannie-Mae Healthcare” – sounds about right for this proposed monstronsity!  Let’s hope we garner enough support in the house to kill it right away.  The real solution is not “affordable health INSURANCE” – it’s affordable HEALTH CARE – Lower the cost of access to health care – i.e, through tort reform, and you open health care back up to free-market capitalism which is good for all.  Just providing insurance to everyone does nothing to lower the actual costs of healthcare. If anything – having this public option health insurance will just drive the costs up further.  Healthcare providers will increase their rates in order to cover the losses from that idiotic public plan.

    Scott Spiegel presents Global Warming Killed Michael Jackson posted at Scott Spiegel.

    Bwahaha!  Great title!  However, this is probably one of the best detailed posts regarding the “global warming” issue.  I’m with you – let’s hope there actually is an American Senator out there that is willing to ask the same questions as the Australian Senator and actually look at the facts rather than the myths before they vote on that economy killer of a bill.

I discuss various ways to predict inflation. I’m surprised nobody’s commented on this post yet (all other posts get comments) — are people just intimidated by this subject?”

    Me – I say inflation is another necessary evil in a free-market capitalist system.  Inflation helps to stabilize the economy.  When you don’t allow inflation to occur and if you falsely keep interest rates down to try to curb inflation – you get what we have now – a serious recession leading towards a depression.  We could have avoided this had the Fed just allowed inflation to occur and run it’s natural course.  We wouldn’t be seeing the possibility of hyperinflation now.  In addition, when all these idiotic policies start hitting our economy – the price of everything will increase.  You are right though – If you follow your local prices at your local stores – you can see inflation creeping.  We should have seen this coming years ago.

    The Smarter Wallet presents The Credit Crisis Explained Video posted at The Smarter Wallet, saying, “I’m going for a video this time, to display how the credit crisis evolved. Thanks!”

    Excellent video.  Who’s Jonathon Jarvis?  I’ve seen similar illustrations -but – this was by far one of the more simplistic and easiest to understand.  Highly recommended.

    Democrats

    DWSUWF presents Under My Thumb. posted at Divided We Stand United We Fall, saying, “The damage is already done. Senator Al Franken will not make a meaningful difference. This single party Democratic government has already committed to trillions of new spending while quadrupling the deficit. They’ve dug a financial hole that can only be filled by imposing new economy-throttling taxes and unleashing the inflationary and currency devaluing monetary printing presses. These are the simple facts. Before Senator Al Franken, or after Senator Al Franken, the only thing that can restrain the Democrats now are the Democrats.”

    Yup – but – considering all the crap they’ve been able to force through without Franken – I don’t think it really matters that they actually seated him.  We’ll see how many Senators up for re-election in 2010 would rather side with the people rather than the party of Franken and Obama.

    Liberal

    SpkTruth2Pwr presents Iraq: Roll ‘Em Up! Move ‘Em Out! posted at The Apathy Remedy, saying, “Why is it that there has been sparse coverage of the U.S. troops in Iraq lately? Maybe it is because things are actually on the right track with U.S. Foreign Policy in the Middle East.”

    You do realize that by the MSM acknowledging the success – they would have to actually give credit to Bush, Cheney, and the entire Bush administration!  Since they can’t say this is a Democrat or Obama success – there’s no reason for them to report on it.  This withdrawal has nothing to do with Obama’s foreign policy as you have stated.  This withdrawal was agreed upon by Bush and Malaki last year.  So – why is there no reporting?  Because this is a conservative, republican, and Bush success. We know how Liberals and the liberal media hate to give credit to conservatives for anything.  Hell, Harry Reid and Obama both said last year that this war was lost.  Maybe that’s why the MSM doesn’t want to report on this success – it makes their Obamessiah look bad.

    Rick Foreman presents Ice Cream and the Freedom of Dessert posted at Waiting for the Singularity.

    OH…this has nothing to do with ice cream does it? ;) But, I am in agreement with you on this one, being the Libertarian Conservative that I am.  Our forefathers did not intend for my favorite, Moosetracks, to be forced upon those who prefer vanilla. I believe you have the right to believe that your favorite is better than my favorite and we both have the right to disagree with each other without the government forcing us to choose one, such as what the Obama administration is doing with all of their policies.

    nickel presents $15,000 Homebuyer’s Tax Credit is Back on the Table posted at fivecentnickel.com.

    Personally, I think that’s a load of crap.  The tax credit – not your article! :)   We don’t need any more freakin’ tax credits.  What we need is more permanent tax cuts.  The tax credit is not going to incentive anyone to buy a home in this market unless they can also come up with the 20% downpayment.  Many banks are actually going back to using solid business decisions and lending practices – that includes money down and income and employment verification.  The smart home-buyers are staying in the homes the are already in rather than risk the values of their homes going down further.  The market still hasn’t bottomed out.  Using my money to incentivize people to buy homes they may not really want or can’t afford is just another bad idea.  Kinda sounds like what caused the financial meltdown in the first place.

    Good letter.  Hey, did you hear that Steve “Air” McNair was shot and killed?  Seriously, this country needs to focus on what is right rather than what the media wants us to look at.  We have far too many issues that effect all of individually that are before Congress that needs to be looked at.  I too am so tired of all the idiots in this country tied to the “boob tube” that they can’t even think critically any longer – nor do they care about the real issues.  Great post.

    That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of The BoBo Carnival of Politics using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.

    Turncoats!

    Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: A Nation at Risk, America, Congress, Democrats, Global warmongering, Politics, RINO, Republicans, Socialism, Taxes, government

    After the people resoundingly let Congress know we were totally against that crap and tax bill – they were able to pass it anyway – with the help of 8 turncoat RINO’s.  Had they all voted NO this thing would not have passed.  UPDATE – found a better picture – I stole this from The Conservative Cloakroom

    But – we would not have been as close as we were without these 44 sane Democrats

    * Altmire-Pennsylvania
    * Arcuri-New York
    * Barrow-Georgia
    * Berry-Arkansas
    * Boren-Oklahoma

    Make sure you let those RINO’s know you will be actively campaigning against them when their time comes up. This will be their last term. Also – make sure you thank those Dems that are on the side of sanity and Freedom. This bill, if passed in the Senate, will strip a lot of our rights and choices from us and will increase taxes like crazy while redistributing the wealth to “low-income consumers” directly in to their bank accounts.

    Next we need to focus on the Senators – hopefully we can kill it there.
