Where is the justice in this?

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: Immigrants, Troops, veterans

As it has become very apparent – I am so AGAINST illegal aliens invading this country.  What I am FOR is LEGAL immigration.  I just came across something this is just so absolutely outrageous I have no choice but to put up a blog post about this in order to help get the word out there.

h/t to Agrippa Hull for sending this to me.  Agrippa sent me a link via facebook to be a fan of this page

Rohan Coombs, Banished vet

Please become a  fan and then pass it on to others.  From there, I found his story at Democracy Now – yes, I know – it is generally a loony left radio broadcast – but – here is the story and the radio transcript.

Here is the story in a nutshell – This man, Rohan Coombs, was born in Jamaica and his family emigrated here when he was 13.  At age 20 he joined the Marine Corp.  He served for six years and even did a tour in the Persian gulf during the first Gulf War.  He was discharged after his service in 1993.  In 2002 he was picked up on drug possession charges and served 8 months prison time.  Immediately upon release from prison he was picked up by DHS and ICE and is currently in the process of being deported.  The reason he is being deported is because he is not a U.S. Citizen and he committed a drug crime.  This generally is immediate cause for deportation of non-citizens.

Under normal circumstances – I would agree with this.  However, this man is a veteran, served in our military for 6 years, and even fought for our country in the Gulf War.  Forget that he had drug charges 9 years after his discharge.    The military and government do have a streamlined process for those non-citizens who are serving in the military.  It appears he filed his application for citizenship in 1988 (and the government has record of it).  However, as our government red tape is ever so present – they screwed up and it never got processed.  He never heard back so he assumed his application was accepted and that he was a citizen.

At the time Rohan and his family emigrated to the U.S. Jamaica and the U.S. had a relationship in that prior to 1989 – Green Cards were issued that had no expiration date.  Rohan was and is here legally.  The problem he is having is that when he cut the deal with the prosecutors in his case – he was not informed that if he does jail time for the crime – it would mean automatic deportation.  Follow the link to the transcript and read the story – apparently – there is already a SCOTUS decision that states that all immigrants are required to be informed at the time of arrest that should they go to jail they will be deported.  The prosecutors obviously knew had legal immigrant status at the time they made the deal.  They should have informed him of the consequences.

I don’t condone his actions and he should have gone to jail for what he did.  However, the man served his time and he also fought for this country.  Doesn’t that mean something?  I know this might seem like an unusual position for me to take – but – think of the overall picture here – regardless of the fact that this man went to jail for drug related charges – what about all those other non-citizens who serve and fight for this country?  Why should it be necessary for them to HAVE to apply for citizenship.  We are a country of immigrants.  Those legal immigrants who put themselves in harms way and put on the uniform of our American military should be automatically granted citizenship.

Anyway – read his story.  He is not the only one in this situation.

Just whose interest is being served in Afghanistan?

Guest Post for The Bobo Files

By Rich Duncombe from AskCherlock

Since the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan by U.S. and NATO military forces, many Americans have requested a clear definition of the U.S. government’s objectives concerning this distant, mountainous, and poverty-stricken country.  Like the nation of Afghanistan itself, the answer is often confusing, convoluted and illogical.  This should come as no surprise after almost ten years of intense military and diplomatic involvement in a fiercely independent country, where foreign invasions are a frequent occurrence, and governments are considered to be universally corrupt.  Suspicious by nature, the Afghani people have never learned to accept that the U.S. military is making war in Afghanistan to

eradicate the threat of terrorism and make the world safe for democracy.  The subsistence farmers, occupying the majority of Afghanistan’s real estate, have seen only that their livelihoods are being threatened by yet another group of foreign invaders, who have their own set of self-serving objectives.  There is little doubt that if the U.S. government’s objective in Afghanistan is to eliminate the influence of the Taliban, it can only be done by convincing the Afghan people that it is in their “economic” best interests to do so.

Recognizing that fact that up to seventy percent of the farmers in Marjah (which was taken from the Taliban rebels last month) depend on opium production for their livelihoods, General Stanley McChrystal has ordered that American occupation forces are to leave the poppy crops alone.  For at least the time being, opium production is to be allowed to continue. According to McChrystal, the U.S. military does not intend to “trample over the livelihoods of those we are trying to win over”. The General has a good point.  The eradication of the poppy crops would only embitter the local population, thereby driving them back into the hands of the Taliban once U.S. forces move on.  If the objective is to win over the people, then opium growing must be tolerated.

So it is in Afghanistan.  The scourge of opium production, which is directly responsible for the ruination of millions of lives around the globe, is tolerated by the U.S. military to ensure that Afghan farmers are not driven to supporting the Taliban.  The U.S. government’s objective of driving terrorist factions out of the region has been corrupted, much like the Afghan government itself, so that U.S. interests may be served.  The truth of the matter is that the interests of the U.S. government and that of the Afghan people will probably never mesh together.

I thought P-BO was supposed to tell us his Afghanistan strategy?!?!

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: America, Idiots, Islamofascists, P-BO, Politics, President, Soldiers, Terrorists, Troops

I decided I would sit through this half-hour speech tonight to see just what P-BO’s strategy for Afghanistan was other than just sending the extra 30,000 troops that we already knew about for months now.  He literally spent only 6 minutes out of 30 discussing this so-called “strategy.”

How do I know this?  Well, my three-year-old daughter told me she need to go potty – that was at 8:06pm.  I figured – okay – he’s still in the monologue section of his speech right now – I have time.  I might miss a little, but I would be back in time to hear the meat of it.  I got back to the T.V. at 8:12 pm and he was talking about how he had just outlined his strategy then proceeded to blather on with more apologies and blaming Bush and the previous administration for everything.

I actually had to go out and find the speech here to read what the strategy actually is.  So..to sum it up – he’s sending 30,000 troops and setting a deadline for withdrawal of those troops and calling on our allies to increase their presence in Afghanistan as well.  What the hell kind of strategy is that?  Why the hell did he need to pre-empt A Charlie Brown Christmas to give a 6 minute speech on this bullshit strategy?  This is a strategy for failure.

Oh – I know why he’s using this strategy – check out his security council:

afghanistan_sitroom_meeting_112309

Do you notice something?  Count how many people are on that security council – I count 10 – not including P-BO.  Something is very very wrong with this picture.  Of 10 people developing a MILITARY strategy on Afghanistan – there is actually only ONE member of the military there – a marine seated at the bottom right of the picture here.

If any president wants to develop a WAR strategy – that president’s security council should consist of the generals on the ground, all of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of Defense, the CIA Director, the NSA Director, and just maybe the Secretary of State.  In other words – everyone who is giving you MILITARY advice actually HAS some military and espionage experience.  What we have in this room is a boat load of freakin’ politicians.

I hope for the sake of  our soldiers and for this country that this plan works.  However, I won’t hold my breath.  This is nothing more than a political strategy – it does nothing to guarantee victory in Afghanistan.  I’ll say it again – if P-BO really wanted to win this war – he would send in a couple hundreds of thousands of troops, every bit of heavy artillery we can muster up, and the full force and might of our air force fighters and bombers and just start leveling EVERY known area where the Taliban and Al-Qaeda hole themselves up.  This will send a VERY clear message to terrorists around the world – we aren’t taking this shit any more.  When we go in to war – we go in to win it.

This is nothing more than more bullshit pussy footing diplomacy that is going to get our soldiers killed.  He obviously is not serious about winning this war and bringing our troops home successfully.  As such – let’s just bring them home now and save some family out there the grief of receiving news their son, daughter, mother, father, brother, sister has been killed.

Guess what P-BO – you own it now.  Every life lost now is on your hands.  You boldly announced to our enemy the exact date when we will be leaving.  Guess what – they planned and waited years to attack us on 9-11.  You don’t think they will let things cool off and just sit it out now?  You’re are a freakin’ moron.  Our enemies think years, and sometimes decades, ahead when the time is right for them.  This is no different.  They will develop their own counter-strategy now based on your deadline.  They will trick you and your idiotic security council in to believing you succeeded in curbing the violence there to ensure we leave based on your deadline.  Guess what happens after that?  You’re an idiot.

Looks like Socrates at Red State is on the same page: Obama’s Afghanistan Policy Is The Worst One Possible

UPDATE – Let’s hope those soldiers shoot to kill this time.  If not – this is what you can expect – thanks alot for nothing P-BO

Obama’s GITMO Circus:  Muslim Terrorist Asks for Dismissal Based on “Constitutional Rights”

You have to read that – since P-BO insists on these islamofascists being tried in our court system – this is a legitimate request and he has a legitimate case for dismissal.

A reminder – Obama is not comfortable with “victory” in Afghanistan

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: America, Iraq, Islamofascists, P-BO, Politics, Soldiers, Terrorists, Troops

h/t to Roger who provided a link to this in response to a comment I left on Breitbart.  I had completely forgotten about this.  If you want to understand why P-BO still can’t make a decision regarding Afghanistan – or why it took three months to respond to General McChrystal’s request – this says  it all.

P-BO isn’t interested in winning this war in Afghanistan. If he were, he wouldn’t be sending over JUST 34,000 troops over a year’s period. If he were serious about winning either war in Afghanistan or Iraq – he would send everything we have and put the full force of American military might on those terrorists. We could be completely done with both countries and both wars if he would just unleash the American war machine. We have the most technologically advanced weaponry in the world – yet – our soldiers are left wondering from house-to-house searching for these islamofascist scumbags. This is war for crying out loud. Send in the freakin’ heavy artillery and just wipe them out. Nope – instead – we have three honorable Navy Seals being sent to court martial because a terrorist scumbag got a bloody lip (well, not just any terrorist scumbag – a high priority Al-Qaeda leader scumbag).

Grow some balls P-BO and quit playing politics with our soldiers.  Even Britain is now calling you a dithering idiot for waiting too long.  Finish this damned war the right way, with VICTORY, or bring them home already.  This could be ended by Christmas for sure if you just went all in.

Hey, P-BO- make a damned decision already!

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: America, P-BO, Politics, President, Soldiers, Terrorists, Troops

I saw this on The Drudge Report:

Grieving Family Sends Message to Obama – go check out the video

Then there is this report:

Army says morale down among troops in Afghanistan

Last year I put up this post:

Support Our Troop! BRING THEM HOME!

That post was about the idiocy of those left-wing nutjobs using that slogan.  It was about how such slogans actually are detrimental to our service members and to the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. When these wars in Iraq and Afghanistan broke out, I fully supported them – 100%.  I am still in support of the mission – to kill the damned terrorists and pay retribution for the thousands of lives lost on 9/11.  However, my patience has worn very thin over the past few months.

It was reported that in August General McCrystal sent a request to Obama for an additional 40,000 troops in Afghanistan.  That extra 40,000 troops would be needed in order to complete a successful mission – one that would mean victory in Afghanistan.  One that would help to re-stabilize the region again so that the Afghanistan government could take over security as we did in Iraq.

Instead – P-BO has sat on that report for 3 months now.  He only just this week sat down with his security council on Afghanistan – and – he rejected every single proposal out there – including sending more troops.  Let’s face it – P-BO is indecisive.  He can’t make the tough decisions.  In the time that the request was first made 43 American soldiers have died in Afghanistan waiting for Obama to make a freakin’ decision. That is almost 15 per month.

I am now at a point myself where I am ready to say – Bring Them Home!  Damn it – either give the generals – who actually know how to fight and win a war – all the troops, equipment, and support necessary to win this war and bring our soldiers home in victory – or – just call it quits and bring them all home before more of them die senseless deaths because Obama refuses to make a decision – a hard decision.

The bullshit response coming from the White House and Obama is “Obama won’t be rushed on Afghanistan war.“  What the fuck man?  You campaigned on changing the strategy to focus the efforts from Iraq to Afghanistan.  You’ve been in office for 10 months now.  You hand-picked and placed McCrystal in there yourself about 5 months ago.  What the fuck does this even mean – you won’t be rushed?  How much longer do you need in order to make a decision – one that every day you wait – more Americans are being killed on the battlefield because you won’t follow the advise of the man you chose to assess the situation and make a recommendation?  He gave you that recommendation 3 months ago!!!!

Do you not understand what kind of message this indecisiveness is sending to the rest of the world?  That message is – America is weak – and the President is even weaker.

For crying out loud man, either give the general what he needs to win – or Bring Our Troops Home. Quit playing politics with the lives of our service members.  You alone are turning the Afghanistan war in to another Viet Nam debacle.

The BoBo Carnival of Politics – July 5th, 2009 Edition

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: A Nation at Risk, America, Carnival, Civil Rights, Congress, Conservative, Democrats, Fascism, Freedom, Global warmongering, Harry Reid, Iraq, Liberals, Media Bias, Obama, Politics, President, Socialism, Soldiers, Taxes, Troops, blogs, energy, government, libertarian

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday reflecting on and celebrating the independence of this country! Well – not its time to get back to business! You’ll notice we have some new contributors, regular contributors, and contributors from the past posting up again. Thanks to you all for making this the Carnival that it is!

Conservative

David Lamb presents When Treasuries Crowd Out Lending posted at Killer Buffalo.

David – welcome back!  Haven’t seen you around in a while.  I take it you’re getting prepared for your college years now! LOL…enjoy them!  In this article, I found it interesting that you attributed the recession to “skyrocketing interest rates.”  Actually, I’m still waiting for them to increase.  In 1990 when I bought my first home, it was at an 11% interest rate – and that was normal back then.  My car loan was at 14% – again, normal in 1990.  I would hardly say our interest rates have “skyrocketed.”  With the prime lending rate still floating around 4% – I would say the cause of this recession has been the lack of the fed to stabilize the markets by actually, and truly, increasing interest rates.  If you want people to invest – you need to raise the interest rates.  The best I can get on my CD’s right now is 3.5% if I go out 3 years.  My Money Market is only earning 1% interest.  I remember in 1990 when I could get 10 – 12% on my short-term CD’s.  The best way for this economy to stabilize and to bring investors back in to the market is to raise interest rates.  So – if you want to attribute this recession to interest rates – I would actually attribute it to the falsely deflated interest rates.

Jared Rhoads presents The Lucidicus Project posted at The Lucidicus Project, saying, “If the proposed public option for health insurance becomes law, then we may as well have Fannie Mae run it.”

“Fannie-Mae Healthcare” – sounds about right for this proposed monstronsity!  Let’s hope we garner enough support in the house to kill it right away.  The real solution is not “affordable health INSURANCE” – it’s affordable HEALTH CARE – Lower the cost of access to health care – i.e, through tort reform, and you open health care back up to free-market capitalism which is good for all.  Just providing insurance to everyone does nothing to lower the actual costs of healthcare. If anything – having this public option health insurance will just drive the costs up further.  Healthcare providers will increase their rates in order to cover the losses from that idiotic public plan.

Scott Spiegel presents Global Warming Killed Michael Jackson posted at Scott Spiegel.

Bwahaha!  Great title!  However, this is probably one of the best detailed posts regarding the “global warming” issue.  I’m with you – let’s hope there actually is an American Senator out there that is willing to ask the same questions as the Australian Senator and actually look at the facts rather than the myths before they vote on that economy killer of a bill.

Steve Parry presents This Explains A Lot posted at The Axis of Stevil, saying, “Sarcastic, but true.”

Michelle Obama hates kids!!!!!!  LOL – you’re right – this does actually explain a lot.

Silicon Valley Blogger presents Commodity Market Index: An Inflation Indicator posted at The Digerati Life, saying, “Let’s talk inflation for a moment. I discuss various ways to predict inflation. I’m surprised nobody’s commented on this post yet (all other posts get comments) — are people just intimidated by this subject?”

Me – I say inflation is another necessary evil in a free-market capitalist system.  Inflation helps to stabilize the economy.  When you don’t allow inflation to occur and if you falsely keep interest rates down to try to curb inflation – you get what we have now – a serious recession leading towards a depression.  We could have avoided this had the Fed just allowed inflation to occur and run it’s natural course.  We wouldn’t be seeing the possibility of hyperinflation now.  In addition, when all these idiotic policies start hitting our economy – the price of everything will increase.  You are right though – If you follow your local prices at your local stores – you can see inflation creeping.  We should have seen this coming years ago.

The Smarter Wallet presents The Credit Crisis Explained Video posted at The Smarter Wallet, saying, “I’m going for a video this time, to display how the credit crisis evolved. Thanks!”

Excellent video.  Who’s Jonathon Jarvis?  I’ve seen similar illustrations -but – this was by far one of the more simplistic and easiest to understand.  Highly recommended.

Democrats

DWSUWF presents Under My Thumb. posted at Divided We Stand United We Fall, saying, “The damage is already done. Senator Al Franken will not make a meaningful difference. This single party Democratic government has already committed to trillions of new spending while quadrupling the deficit. They’ve dug a financial hole that can only be filled by imposing new economy-throttling taxes and unleashing the inflationary and currency devaluing monetary printing presses. These are the simple facts. Before Senator Al Franken, or after Senator Al Franken, the only thing that can restrain the Democrats now are the Democrats.”

Yup – but – considering all the crap they’ve been able to force through without Franken – I don’t think it really matters that they actually seated him.  We’ll see how many Senators up for re-election in 2010 would rather side with the people rather than the party of Franken and Obama.

Liberal

SpkTruth2Pwr presents Iraq: Roll ‘Em Up! Move ‘Em Out! posted at The Apathy Remedy, saying, “Why is it that there has been sparse coverage of the U.S. troops in Iraq lately? Maybe it is because things are actually on the right track with U.S. Foreign Policy in the Middle East.”

You do realize that by the MSM acknowledging the success – they would have to actually give credit to Bush, Cheney, and the entire Bush administration!  Since they can’t say this is a Democrat or Obama success – there’s no reason for them to report on it.  This withdrawal has nothing to do with Obama’s foreign policy as you have stated.  This withdrawal was agreed upon by Bush and Malaki last year.  So – why is there no reporting?  Because this is a conservative, republican, and Bush success. We know how Liberals and the liberal media hate to give credit to conservatives for anything.  Hell, Harry Reid and Obama both said last year that this war was lost.  Maybe that’s why the MSM doesn’t want to report on this success – it makes their Obamessiah look bad.

Rick Foreman presents Ice Cream and the Freedom of Dessert posted at Waiting for the Singularity.

OH…this has nothing to do with ice cream does it? ;) But, I am in agreement with you on this one, being the Libertarian Conservative that I am.  Our forefathers did not intend for my favorite, Moosetracks, to be forced upon those who prefer vanilla. I believe you have the right to believe that your favorite is better than my favorite and we both have the right to disagree with each other without the government forcing us to choose one, such as what the Obama administration is doing with all of their policies.

Miscellaneous

BH presents 7 Out of Top 10 Failed States are Muslim States posted at Bangladeshi Hindu.

Interesting!  What I also find interesting is that two countries currently at war (Iraq and Afghanistan) are actually ranked 6 and 7, respectively.  Those other countries 1 – 5 must be in REALLY bad shape then!

Kenny Silveira presents Is this what we have become? posted at Black Holes And Revelations, saying, “An article about the recent violence in Iran after the 2009 elections.”
Nice tribute to Neda and an eye-opening post to those that are sleeping.  It’s too bad our own President sides more with the Mullah’s than with the people.

Madeleine Begun Kane presents De-Moralized? posted at Mad Kane’s Political Madness.

Hmmm…that’s just as crazy as libtards blaming Glenn Beck and O’Reilly for Tiller The Baby-Killer’s death. Neither of them compute.

Bob Brooks presents Dazed and Confused – The Weapon of the Politicians posted at Bob Brooks – Prudent Money Blog.

Just keep reporting on this kind of stuff.  With enough of us bloggers out here pointing out the truth – eventually someone is going to come across it.  I have people that I work with that didn’t even know this thing passed last week.  I spoke to as many colleagues as possible leading up to the vote – but – I guess I wasn’t talking to the right people.  Keep up the great work, Bob.

News

nickel presents $15,000 Homebuyer’s Tax Credit is Back on the Table posted at fivecentnickel.com.

Personally, I think that’s a load of crap.  The tax credit – not your article! :)   We don’t need any more freakin’ tax credits.  What we need is more permanent tax cuts.  The tax credit is not going to incentive anyone to buy a home in this market unless they can also come up with the 20% downpayment.  Many banks are actually going back to using solid business decisions and lending practices – that includes money down and income and employment verification.  The smart home-buyers are staying in the homes the are already in rather than risk the values of their homes going down further.  The market still hasn’t bottomed out.  Using my money to incentivize people to buy homes they may not really want or can’t afford is just another bad idea.  Kinda sounds like what caused the financial meltdown in the first place.

Politics

Allen Scott presents With Malice Toward None posted at Journey Across the Sky, saying, “Something to think about as we celebrate our Freedom.”

Hey Allen – sorry this didn’t appear before July 4th.  I guess that’s just one of the hazards of posting this regularly on Sundays – sometimes the posts come a little later.  In any case – whether this comes before or after 4th of July – your discussion is still relevant for every day.  Long – but well worth the read.

Wenchypoo presents About That Climate Change Bill Voted On Last Friday… posted at Wisdom From Wenchypoo’s Mental Wastebasket.

Hey Wenchypoo – perhaps you might want to resubmit?  For whatever reason – this doesn’t link to anything – blogger says this link doesn’t exist.

Gal Josefsberg presents An Open Letter To Our Elected Officials posted at Gal Josefsberg, saying, “I want someone to inspire me, someone who will give us a cause to rally behind. With so many issues facing us, we need more than a manager, we need a leader.”

Good letter.  Hey, did you hear that Steve “Air” McNair was shot and killed?  Seriously, this country needs to focus on what is right rather than what the media wants us to look at.  We have far too many issues that effect all of individually that are before Congress that needs to be looked at.  I too am so tired of all the idiots in this country tied to the “boob tube” that they can’t even think critically any longer – nor do they care about the real issues.  Great post.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of The BoBo Carnival of Politics using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
