Yes – Another Award for The BoBo

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: Uncategorized, awards

I know they call these things awards – and yes, I do get it, they aren’t “REAL” awards – but – nevertheless, it’s pretty cool to get these things. I received this latest one from Nelson of Liberal Journal. You may remember, he was one of my guest bloggers way back when. (as an aside, I do plan on starting that up again – ever since this move, I’m still getting used to the details that is WordPress). So, this latest award is called The Sharing The Love Award

This award was created by Memoirs of a Mommy in honor of the organ donor who saved her son’s life. The idea behind this award is to pass it on to other bloggers and to help raise awareness of the importance of Organ Donation. As an organ donor myself (well – once The BoBo passes on – I’m not crazy enough to donate any organs while I’m still around to perform!) I am very pleased to receive this award and am more than welcome to be able to pass this on to other bloggers. Here are the “official” rules:

The rules of this award are: SHARE THE LOVE!!! Share this award with all those blogs out there that you love. All the people who make you smile. All those that make you laugh. All those that make your day. All those that leave uplifting comments on your blog. **All I ask, is that you include a link to this post with the award and ask your recipient to do the same**

This also is very timely since it gives me the opportunity to show those other bloggers that would have been named as an Honorable Mention for the other Arte y Pico award that I received. Funny, I was going to name Nelson as one of them. So, without further adieu – here are the bloggers (there’s no limits) that I have selected to receive this (in no particular order).

Holly Ord from Menstrual Poetry – She was a guest blogger here once as well. She is the feminist who came here to set us all straight! In addition, she’s also the one responsible for this cool upgraded design.

Bradley Hankins from Kayloo.com - He’s still a yung’n but he posts up some really good stuff on his blog – and he likes to come over here and comment as well. It’s a good thing I moved my blog to WordPress – I think the limitations for comments on haloscan was driving him nuts! While he’s supporting Bob Barr now, I won’t hold it against him – like I said – he’s still young! :) But – I do have a question for him – what the heck is Kayloo and Kakura?

Wil Cruz from Vulcan’s Hammer – This guy always has some really good stuff posted up over at his site. He also just suffered through those out of control forest fires in Northern California because of the eco-terrorists obstructionist views about underbrush clearing.

Will Conway from Regarding Liberty – He’s the first blogger to introduce me to community blogging. We post together over at Big Boom Bloggers. I haven’t really posted up there in a while because things have gotten so busy over here lately. But – I will make it over there again soon. He’s another yung’n with his head on straight – considering he’s up in Connecticut. He must be the only other Conservative up there other than Glenn Beck.

Couchmouse’s Corner – He say’s he’s a Republican just fed up with the Bush administration and posts about it – but I sense some liberal undertones in many of his posts. In any case, he always has great stuff on his blog and is always willing to engage in discussions without stooping low.

DD2 from Our World as We See It – What more can I say about this guy’s blog? It started off as a blog to stop Hillary – well, since Hillary is no longer a contender – he has moved on to Obama. He’s a conservative blogger and will be voting for McCain come November – and he lets us conservatives who despise McCain for the way he kicks us around know his point of view on that one! Always good discussions over there as well.

Angel from Woman Honor Thyself – Another conservative blog. She has some excellent discussions and will drop by here every once in a while and leave a few tidbits. She recently went through a difficult time – and I just wanted to Share the Love with her to let her know we’re thinking of her.

Stay at Home Mom & Military Wife – This is a SAHM Mommy blog. I frequent her blog. She always has great and creative ideas for marketing blogs. She started the EntreCard surfring and the new Drop on Top club. Since I grew up as an Army brat and then served in the Air Force myself – I always try to support our troops and their dependents as much as possible. This is my way to show her some support. Oh – and if you’ve never been there before – you have to go there just to see her header. It’s really cool!

Crista from The Domestic Goddess – Another SAHM Mommy blog who is also the wife of a soldier. She posts up stuff about her husband frequently as well as a day in the life of a soldier’s wife. Again – just another way for me to show support!

The Historian from The Real World – Another Independent Conservative blogger. This guy really makes sense at all levels. He considers himself a moderate – but – whether or not he realizes it, most of what he posts up leans more to conservative values versus middle of the road stuff.

Greg from 454monte.com – This is actually a blog about cars – but – he posts up political discussions every once in a while. I met him over at another blog that he and I both frequent. He’s been a loyal follower of this blog since I started it – even when he’s overseas in Q8. This is my way of saying thanks to him.

Blake from Law of Politics – Another conservative leaning blog. I just recently discovered this guy – but – he made quite an impression on this old clown.

Len from First Door on The Left – A very liberal leaning blog. I rarely find anything to agree with him on when he posts up – but – I have developed a cordial relationship with him. I realize that he’s just supporting his liberal causes (as misguided as he is) – but, we can always have decent conversations on his blog. I invited him to be a guest blogger at one point. He wanted to do it but had to decline because he is on a deadline with his publisher – I guess he has two books coming out soon.

SoapBoxGod from The SoapBox Blog – I have to give it to this guy. He’s stuck up in the heartland of Liberaltopia in Minnesota. He’s surrounded by them! I don’t know how he can continue living in the middle of all the political correctness and appeasement without wanting to put a gun to his head and end the misery. But – he keeps plugging away up there and furthering the conservative cause! Just for putting up with those people up that way – I have to pass this on to him.

and finally -

Hans Gruen from WesternFront America and USA Partisan. He has two excellent conservative blogs out there. The former is a collection of posts from regular contributors and the latter is a compilation of posts from conservative blogs from around the sphere. There are always great posts on both blogs.

So – that is my list. The good part about this award is that I get to keep giving it out. So, if I find more worthy bloggers out there – or – if I’ve forgotten someone here – I can redeem myself later! Again, this is for a worthy cause – Organ Donation awareness. I hope these folks will pick this up and pass it on (NO PRESSURE!)

UPDATE! 7/1/08 – Adding two more to the mix here!

Mark from Tampa Pirate – being a hometown blogger, I gotta share the love with him.  You need to check his blog out.  Not everything he posts about has to do with the Tampa Bay area.  His current project is on awareness of pedophiles and protecting the children.  He also puts up some pretty good political stuff every once in a while.

Jason Buckley from Washington Interns Gone Bad - you may remember Jason – he was a guest blogger over here and is an admitted Progressive Leftist.  He posted up a great discussion about bipartisanship and trying to get everyone from both sides to work together – which got quite a lot of comments!  While the spirit was there and there were some great intentions – I think he proved a point that we have become so divided – it is hard to meet in the middle these days.  We all seem to want the same things – but have different ideas about how to get there.  His blog is named after a short video he created that is posted up on his blog.  When you get an opportunity – you need to watch it – it’s pretty good.

Couldn’t have said it any better!

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: America, Conservative, Democrats, Idiots, Illegal immigrants, Islamofascists, Liberals, Mexicans, Politics, President, Rant, Republicans, Retard, Soldiers, Terrorists, Troops, war on terror

Rather than post my own rant about GWB, the GOP, Libtards, and GWOT, I will let my friend Greg from 454monte.com do it!  Actually, he’s already done it.  Here’s an exerpt regarding GWB.

I also was furious to have given him another 4 years and have him propose that amnesty for illegals was somehow good for the United States, that was the breaking point for my support of the GOP and Bush. They sided with the multi-culture and Big business crowd and tried to cram something a vast majority of honest hard working Americans DID NOT want down the country’s throat.

So – run – don’t walk – over to here:  Thoughts on Bush and the GWOT.

My Honorable Mentions

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: awards

I know, I said I was going to post this up yesterday – but – even The BoBo has a “bobo-do” list.  My better half had me painting our circus tent yesterday.  In addition, there has been a new development.  I’ve been given another award!  Go figure!  Time is limited at this moment, so, I will be back later to post up the award and to pass it on to 5 others.  This helps to alleviate that burden and I really won’t need to post up an honorable mentions now will I?  The funny thing is, I got it from someone that I was going to list in my HM’s!  Looks like I might have to create another page just to put them on.

Iranian Nuke Program to be “dismantled” within a year!

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: America, Democrats, Iran, Israel, Liberals, Obama, war on terror

Well – it won’t exactly be shut down voluntarily by the Iranians! Bwahahaha! Apparently, “a former head of Mossad has warned that Israel has 12 months in which to destroy Iran’s nuclear programme or risk coming under nuclear attack itself. He also hinted that Israel might have to act sooner if Barack Obama wins the US presidential election.”

I really like that last line – looks like our Israeli friends have no confidence in the Obamessiah either!

Here’s the article:

Israel has a year to stop Iran bomb, warns ex-spy

By Carolynne Wheeler in Tel Aviv and Tim Shipman in Washington

Shabtai Shavit, an influential adviser to the Israeli parliament’s defence and foreign affairs committee, told The Sunday Telegraph that time was running out to prevent Iran’s leaders getting the bomb.

Mr Shavit, who retired from the Israeli intelligence agency in 1996, warned that he had no doubt Iran intended to use a nuclear weapon once it had the capability, and that Israel must conduct itself accordingly.

“The time that is left to be ready is getting shorter all the time,” he said in an interview

Mr Shavit, 69, who was deputy director of Mossad when Israel bombed the Osirak nuclear facility in Iraq in 1981, added: “As an intelligence officer working with the worst-case scenario, I can tell you we should be prepared. We should do whatever necessary on the defensive side, on the offensive side, on the public opinion side for the West, in case sanctions don’t work. What’s left is a military action.”

The “worst-case scenario, he said, is that Iran may have a nuclear weapon within “somewhere around a year”.

As speculation grew that Israel was contemplating its own air strikes, Iran’s military said it might hit the Jewish state with missiles and stop Gulf oil exports if it came under attack. Israel “is completely within the range of the Islamic republic’s missiles,” said Mohammed Ali Jafari, head of the feared Revolutionary Guard. “Our missile power and capability are such that the Zionist regime cannot confront it.”

More than 40 per cent of all globally traded oil passes through the 35-mile-wide Strait of Hormuz, putting tankers entering or leaving the Gulf at risk from Iranian mines, rockets and artillery, and Mr Jafari’s comments were the clearest signal yet that Iran intends to use this leverage in the nuclear dispute.

Despite offering incentives, the West has failed to persuade Iran to stop enriching uranium. Israeli officials believe the diplomatic process is useless and have been pressing President Bush to launch air strikes before he leaves office on January 20 next year.

They apparently fear that the chances of winning American approval for an air attack will be drastically reduced if the Democratic nominee wins the election. Mr Obama advocates talks with the regime in Tehran rather than military action.

That view was echoed by Mr Shavit, who said: “If [Republican candidate John] McCain gets elected, he could really easily make a decision to go for it. If it’s Obama: no. My prediction is that he won’t go for it, at least not in his first term in the White House.”

He warned that while it would be preferable to have American support and participation in a strike on Iran, Israel will not be afraid to go it alone.

“When it comes to decisions that have to do with our national security and our own survival, at best we may update the Americans that we are intending or planning or going to do something. It’s not a precondition, [getting] an American agreement,” he said.

Our liberal friends must be pissed to see that last sentence – Our Israeli friends get it. We should not, never, ever, be required to get approval from ANYONE to defend ourselves. Do you think they will go to the U.N. Security Council to announce their intentions when they decide to go? I think that is a resounding NO!! And…neither should we…ever.

I see some serious Global Warming coming Iran’s way in the near future!  That’s enough to bring a tear to this old clown’s eyes!

Wow! The BoBo has been given another award!?!

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: Blog Award

This is The Arte y Pico Award

It was awarded to me by Seeking Things Above. The Arte y Pico award was created and to be given to bloggers who inspire others with their creativity and their talents, also for contributing to the blogging world in whatever medium. When you receive this award it is considered a “special honor”. Once you have received this award, you are to pass it on to 5 others.”

The rules for passing this honor on:

1) Pick 5 blogs that you would like to award this honor to.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4) Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award. http://arteypico.blogspot.com.

Since I do accept this as a special honor – especially because someone out there feels I have inspired them (heck, I can’t inspire my kids to finish high school!) I need to find 5 others whom I feel have inspired me as well. I have been to so many other blogs out there, many of them inspirational. It will be difficult to choose just 5. Given this limitation, I am going to wait until tomorrow to post those 5 blogs on here. I would like to take some time to think seriously about who I want to give these to.

I will update and post them here tomorrow evening. I’m also considering doing a separate post of my honorable mentions which will serve two purposes: 1.) To show them some serious “link love” and 2.) to let them know that I had considered them and to not feel bad for not being selected.

See ya tomorrow!

UPDATE!

Well, I thought about it, and I picked my 5. I first thought about what it was that inspired me and how I perceived creativity and talent. Essentially, anyone who has posted anything that I commented on would be considered to be inspiring. I generally don’t comment unless I really see something that makes me think “man, I just have to put my 2 cents in on this one.” Other than that, inspiration, for me, is also anything that made me stop, read, and reflect even if I did not leave a comment. As for creativity and talent, I was looking at those blogs that I’ve always thought either had a great design or the discussion posts were always amusing or different in some way. So these are in no particular order:

Blind Faith – This blog is actually a compilation of weekly postings from a book written by a deceased Army Chaplain that was never published. His family has been holding on to his book which contains stories from Viet Nam. This is excellent reading.

Matt-Speak – If you’ve ever been to Matt’s blog you know why I’m passing this on to him. He always has excellent articles and some very thoughtful responses to any comments on his blog.

Blanca DeBree Blog – When I first found EntreCard – hers was also one of the first blogs I came across. She’s very witty and most definitely very creative in all of her posts. She pokes fun of politicians and politics one and all.

Scramories - Okay – this is going to seem odd for the rest of you political junkies that I would choose a scrap-booking blog for this award. However, if you’ve ever visited Ada’s blog – she always has some very inspirational quotes, thoughts, and musings in addition to have a creative design for her blog – and her scrapbooking.

amy oops! - Yes – another one outside of the political realm – although she does on occasion post her opinions on issues of the day – which often times seem to lean conservative. For that alone I like her! In any case, she has a really cool logo and her pictures and posts are always amusing or creative in some manner.

So – there you have it. There are a lot of blogs out there that I frequent and that I really like. I hate it when I’m forced to make choices like these. It’s kind of like making a choice between $100,000 or $99,000. In any case – tomorrow I’m going to post up links of my “honorable mentions.” These are others that I frequent regularly and really like – and just felt I need to let them know that they were not forgotten!

We have the right to bear arms? Duh!

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: A Nation at Risk, Civil Rights, Constitution, Liberals, Second Amendment, Socialism, US Constitution

The Second Amendment says, “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

This is just my thoughts about today’s decision by the SCOTUS regarding the Second Amendment. This will probably be one of the shortest posts I’ve ever written since I think it was absolutely ludicrous that SCOTUS even had to address a very CLEARLY written amendment. Who do you think the Militia is? It is WE THE PEOPLE! In order to create a Militia, we need to have the right to keep and bear arms – that is exactly what it means and that is exactly how it was interpreted today.

This whole case was not about Heller vs. D.C., it was about socialist liberals, over-reaching governments with over-reaching laws, and radical judges trying to tell WE THE PEOPLE how to live our lives. Gun bans don’t prevent gun crimes, in fact, gun crimes increase when law abiding citizens cannot protect themselves – Just for instance – since we are talking about D.C., let’s use D.C. as an example – in 2007 – there were 143 murders gun-related murders. That must mean since the ban has been in effect since 1976 (more than 30 years) – the gun-related murder rate at that time must have been astronomical – since gun bans reduce crime right? Wrong – In 1976 there were 135 gun-related murders. Wow – that gun ban worked out well there didn’t it? (Source) Here’s how I feel:

1. NO SHIT!

2. WTF? DUH!

3. There were actually 4 Justices who voted against the 2d Amendment? That’s scary!

4. Based on #3 – We really need to be careful who we put on the bench! We were just 1 vote away from losing one of the most fundamental rights given to us in the constitution.

5. See Picture! The constitution would have given me the right to take up arms against the government using this baby had the Supreme Court tried to wield its judicial authority to usurp my rights and try to take it away from me!
