April Fools Day Reveal!

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: A Nation at Risk, Obama, Open Thread, Politics, Socialism, government

Okay everyone – you need to make sure you come back tomorrow for an April Fool’s day reveal.  I had actually intended on keeping this thing going until NEXT year (which I will go in to more detail tomorrow) – but – due to some changes at EntreCard – it kinda put the kibosh on the whole thing.

If you aren’t currently subscribed to my feed – make sure you do so on the right over there in my sidebar so you won’t miss it or you can follow me on twitter or on facebook (see those links further down on the sidebar) since I will be updating over there tomorrow as well.

In the meantime – I’ll leave this as an open thread.  My topic of discussion would be around the socialism of this nation by Teh One considering our government has nationalized our financial institutions, and essentially by order the resignation of one of the Big 3 automakers – has made an attempt now at nationalizing our auto industry.  Since when does the President of the U.S. have the authority to tell any CEO of ANY private organization they have to resign?  Considering GM is a publicly traded company – doesn’t that mean that decision is up to the elected Board of Directors?

Are all those people who voted for Obama still supporting him?  Do you think they are now beginning to realize that we were right about him and that he is a true socialist?  For crying out loud – we’ve now become more socialist than Europe – even England, German, France, and Switzerland are telling Obama to stop it.

You can opine and continue with my discussion – or feel free to add your own here.

They went from General Motors to Government Motors. What a shame. I’m so afraid for this country. So very afraid.

    Have a terrific day. :)

Spouse works at an advertising agency in downtown Chicago. A blue industry in a very blue city.

He’s saying that a *lot* of Obama supporters are starting to develop a pretty severe case of buyer’s remorse. I guess seeing their 401(k) statements jolted a little sense into them.

Also, his ex-wife and her current spouse are starting to ask him for advice on what type of firearm they should buy. After years of liberal whinging about “gun control” and “fair tax rates”, they seem to be having a come to Jesus moment about their Messiah. They are both professionals and fall into that “ultra-rich” $250,000 per family slot…. Oh, yes. Their tunes are changing quickly.

And, lastly, I work at the restaurant with a guy who builds custom violins as his day job. Needless to say, the custom violin industry is a little *slow* right now, so he’s complaining about having to work more restaurant shifts. He hasn’t actually come out and said it yet (he’s a hard-core Kool-aid drinker), but he’s been dancing around the statement that maybe Socialism isn’t going to work out so well for him, after all.

Spouse and I just smile and revel in the Schadenfraud… it’s petty pleasure, but it’s all we’ve got right now….

    @Jana,
The other day I was feeling a little down about where this country was headed when an Obama administration could basically fire the CEO of a corporation like GM. But your stories have lifted my spirirts. Knowing that some of the knuckleheads who voted for this guy are starting to realize just how badly they were taken is music to my ears. I hope more and more realize this and I hope it continues for the next four years and we have a one and out for Obama.
Thank you for lifting my spirits!!

Glad I could help. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing these twits figure out first hand what their uninformed vote is going to cost *them*. They figured the only ones who would suffer would be *others*.

Unfortunately, their idiotic actions are dragging the rest of us down with them. One can only hope that enough people wake up in enough time to do something about it.

This is going to far. I am so glad these Tea Parties started a while back, as now they will be even bigger!

The government is now being filled with even more law breakers, people who cannot even keep up with their own selves. We are being ran by Socialist who see no end to their power grab, and who will continue to use and abuse powers that is looking like they are making it up.

To add to it, the government as is didn’t come about because some guy had a military and took it over. No, the majority of America voted for him! What were they thinking? A bunch of ignorant people voted for someone who they really had no idea about, or for that matter probably have no idea what America is about, and now we are all being screwed.

I am still saying that if things get even worse, the President and his friends will have more than a recession to worry about, he will have millions of people at his doorstep demanding their money back or else. Succession seems to be in the thoughts of some. Hopefully though we will not have to resort to that.

At least some people are seeing the evil coming from the government, and they are changing their minds on how they will vote next time around. The next elections will be 2010, and that is our chance to retake Congress so we can at least get something done. Obama will still be head of office, but if we can get enough his made of power will cease to exist. If that fails to happen, then we will just be stuck for the full four years of his term.

I believe in the American people, and I believe that they will get their heads straight and vote right in the next presidential election. Hopefully Obama and his team won’t totally ruin this great country, and the hard work that our forefathers put into making this country the best in the history of the world.

Just think, we were Number 1, now we have took a dive in the polls… It’s easy to fall, it is harder to stand back up.

    @Bradley,
I love your excitement!! But, I just want to caution you. I don’t think the Republicans will retake either the senate or the house in 2010 for two main reasons. 1) If the Repbulicans do not adopt a realistic conservative message, then they are in trouble. 2) While I think Repbulicans will pick up seats, I just don’t think they can pick up enough to retake either. I think there will be enough kool-aide drinkers still hanging on in 2010 to keep it from happening.

Conservatives need some great candidates, whether they be Republicans or not. And, we need those candidates to craft and get out a true conservative message.

Unfortunately I see any buyers remorse as only temporary. If they were that easily fooled in the first place they will be fooled again. I still believe half of this country is made of pure and utter morons. It’s not that they are necessarily socialists or statists at heart, its that they are too lazy and find it too inconvenient to challenge the easy way out form of thinking. People don’t understand what liberty is or why you have to vigilantly guard it because they assume it will always be there and don’t want to be bothered with the effort it takes to cut through all the bullshit in order to recognize our founding principles are under attack.

I know it is a long shot, but I think like you said, we can get some. I’m not labeling us by party names, I don’t like that. I like using terms liberals and conservatives, as it seems more fitting as long as we use the words in their meanings. I just think that everyone, especially politicians, have realized we all think differently, and we all cannot be described as Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, we are all Americans, despite the fact if your Socialist. But, I think the country was based on common sense, and the country has succeeded on common sense, yet in recent years we have thrown common sense out the window.

I know all this stuff can be broken down into a science, but we have messed he whole system up that no one notices it even more – it is different. 2010 will just be a preview. This country, even though I hope it does not happen, will fall so hard that by 2012 we will once again call for change we can believe in, as this change is in the wrong direction. There is not always one path to take. We’ve been criss-crossing so much, we’ve confused ourselves so much that we cannot even identify who we are voting for.

We’ve been sucked in to voting on popularity, on looks, or where people are from, and not on the issues – the morals that they stand upon. No one listens anymore, they just look. No one cares. The people who voted for Barack Obama (not all, but some) don’t care at all, they just voted because they liked the way he looked. They sure wouldn’t have voted if it was Joe Biden who was at the top. Many Democrat’s argument to not vote for John McCain was because he was to old. What? That’s not even a good argument. Watch the man like to be 99. Then what? Will that point ever be brought up?

People need to gain common sense. We’ve lost it, and it is still out there as some of us still have it. But until then we will remain screwed, and all we can do is continue to protest.

I’m not here to defend big government, but I do have something to say about the firing of GM’s CEO. We have been funding GM and most American automakers for a while now.

Have you realized that just about every state and federal vehicles (Police, Fire Dept., etc.) are from American automakers? In other words, the state and federal governments make deals with GM, Ford, Chevy, etc. Basically, we fund these car companies in a public-private deal. The government gets its means of transportation while supporting the American auto industry at the same time.

My point is that whether you like it or not, we’ve been helping keep these companies afloat with our tax dollars, thus we should have a say in their future, especially after the bailout(s). That’s my view of it. I don’t see it as a dictator picking and choosing who stays and goes; it’s a result of America’s support and GM’s failure to live up to its expectations with our support.

    Bradley,
Like you, I would consider myself a conservative long before a Republican. I vote Republican because most Republican candidates (excludiing RINOs like McCain) are closer to my beliefs than anyone else. I just wish we had a conservative party with real conservative values and party platform.
Having said all that, if Repbulicans want to gain seats and eventually the White House again, they need to move back towards us on the conservative side. They need to develop a clear, honest, conservative message. Once they have the right message, they need to take a page out of the democrat play book, and develop a great public relations campaign with heavy internet influence.
Once they have the message and the marketing campaign, they need real, honest candidates who truly believe in the message. It is only when all of these come together that Republicans have any hope of taking anything. I think it can happen. If it does happen, then the biggest issue comes into play. Those Republicans elected must maintain their conservatism and NOT move left towards the center thinking they will sway hardcore liberals. That is what got conservatives in the mess we are in now.

    Good night, Happy Fool’s Day!

A man was in a bar. Hoping to strike up a conversation with a distinguished looking fellow sitting nearby, he said, “May I buy you a drink?”
“No,” said the man coolly, “Don’t drink. Tried it once and I didn’t like it.”
    “Would you like a cigar?”
“No. Don’t smoke. Tried tobacco once and I didn’t like it.”
“Would you like to join me in a game of gin rummy?”
“No. Don’t like card games. Tried it once, and I didn’t like it.
However, my son will be dropping in after a bit. Perhaps he will join you.”
The first man settled back in his chair and said, “Your only son, I presume?”

    Happy April Fool’s Day!
