@Brian – just to add to what Bradley has already stated – the First Amendment guarantee of Freedom of the Press was to ensure that the media had uninhibited access to watch over the government and report back to the people in an unbiased manner. The founding fathers understood the power of the press even then. The very foundation of journalism is supposed to be non-biased, non-opinionated reporting. ABC is not a private company. ABC happens to be a publicly traded company and has to report to a board and to the shareholders. ABC News has the obligation to report fairly and balanced. Such a farce as what is to take place on June 24th is a direct affront against our constitution.

@Bradley – spot on

@John – Seems to me that the Republicans should be pointing out the obvious with regards to the biased reporting and how it spits in the face of our constitution rather than bitching about who’s dime it is. Sure, I don’t like the fact that we’re paying for it – but – there is a bigger issue here other than who’s footing the bill. This to me is more proof that the GOP is out of touch. They really need to be pushing the issue about non-representation with the media.

@Sandee – pretty much sucks. I’m just waiting for Congress to sneak something in one of the bills that does away with Presidential term limits and elections.

This is nothing more than an Advertisement for the president. The white house should not be allowed to “Hire” a media source to do it’s bidding for it.

How much of our tax dollars does this little stunt cost us?

Money aside, this should be illegal not that it matters to this little Hitler.

Another thought, how will the DNC react when the next Non-Democrat president tries this? They’ll scream bloody murder you know it. No one else should be allowed to get away with this only the Obamessiah.

@Bob – Really? Bwahahaha. That is so laughable. I guess you never really watch Fox News then. You see, at least on the actual news programming they have it actually is very fair and balanced. If you’re referring to shows like Hannity, O’Reilly, and Beck – those are all opinion shows – they aren’t required to show any balance. ABC puts itself out there as part of the regular MSM – as such – they are obligated – just as is Fox News – to report on both sides of an issue without bias. If you want to see some real reporting – you should actually tune in to the news on Fox. In addition, even all the Fox opinion shows have people as guests from both sides of the aisle. You won’t see that anywhere on the regular MSM news broadcasts. You have become a slave to the Liberal media so much that you don’t even recognize fair and unbalanced journalism when it slaps you in the face.

I think what actually amazes me the most is that you actually support this. Not once did Bush EVER have Fox news shut out the opposition opinion in anything. The Fox News arm never had exclusive access to Bush like the MSM have with Obama. Do you not believe in personal liberties and freedom as the constitution provides? You’ve got yourself in a rut believing it’s us versus them, Liberals versus Conservatives, Democrats versus Republicans. Do you not understand that is we the people versus our government right now? Obama is the biggest statist this country has ever had – and it’s people like you who are willing to give up your constitutional rights just because it’s Obama and he’s a Democrat. Seriously, Bob – I’m asking you to wake up and just look at this situation with an unbiased eye. Nothing like this has EVER happened in the media before despite what you “believe.” This is the reason why this is a newsmaker right now – it is unprecedented and goes against the very core of our constitution.

And – as a last note – Go Penguins!!!! If you’ve been following this blog for a good period of time, you will know that I’m a huge Pittsburgh fan – all the way around. My family is from the Burg!

@Phuck – let me rephrase that – since I obviously lost the point on you guys. Those were all regular interviews – and – it wasn’t only Fox that did interviews with Bush (if you’d like I will post some links for you from NBC, CBS, and ABC where folks like Charlie Gibson and others interviewed him as well). Not once during the entire Bush administration did he use any one single media organization to the exclusion of all others where only “friends of the whitehouse” were invited to participate in an infomercial for a particular proposal. The Bush administration was always open to all the news organizations. However, since what Obama is doing is so unprecedented and the fact that only supporters of his healthcare proposals are invited to attend to the exclusion of the opposition – this is a very gross misuse and abuse of the press.

Let’s not turn this in to “well, Bush did it.” What we are seeing now from Obama is something that no other president in history has ever done with regards to all of the idiotic policies coming out and the way he has grabbed executive power like no other. Obama is Bush on steroids. If those guys on the left was so against the so-called Bush power grab – why is no one on the left up in arms now? The problem, as I stated before, is that too many people are still in the us versus them mode that the government wants. In the meantime – the government is slowly eroding our rights and chipping away at the constitution. Considering the watchdog approach you generally take with politicians – I’m surprised that you yourself haven’t been posting about these things. I thought you were more moderate than that to be a partisan hack for Obama.

@Phuck – okay – I’ll take back the political hack part. I can stand behind ya on the Senators who own stock in bailed out banks, (you might also want to check out Durbin who dumped tons of stock as the result of his personal meeting with Geithner, just a day before the bailouts were announced), the withholding of information, and the war on drug thing. However, I actually agree with everything else regarding the military that you oppose. Military defense funding is a necessity. Continued funding for our troops currently at war is necessary. Unless you’re ready to put all of the Dems, including Obama, Hillary & Bill Clinton, Erik Holder, and everyone else from the Clinton administration for “torture” it aint gonna happen. First – there was no torture. Second – the techniques used by the CIA under Bush were first designed and approved under the Clinton administration. This is a moot point as I’ve beaten this horse dead – waterboarding is not torture. Never has been, never will be. The Don’t Ask Don’t Tell should be rescinded back to before it was signed in to law by Clinton. The UCMJ states deviant behavior and homosexual relations are punishable by expulsion from the military. Unless that is what you are actually wanting – that is what repealing the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy actually means. It will not allow gays to openly serve in the military – which in my opinion – they should not be allowed.

But – I digress from the original topic – this isn’t MSNBC – this is ABC – one of the Big 3 networks. Bush did not use any news outlet to push agenda this way. Perhaps, if you recall, any time Bush was interviewed, immediately following all of his interviews that may have contained policy issues – there was some “pundit” or politician who opposed it giving a counter-point view. This is not going to be the case with this ABC broadcast next week. No one will be allowed to give any opposing views – and – the Bush administration never gave direction to any of the news outlets like Obama has with ABC. Obama controls this broadcast – not ABC.
