obama is the candidate of change!

Yes! He IS the candidate of change! He changes his mind on everything! Remember the Kerry “flip-flop?” Isn’t it so appropriate that I found a picture of Obama with Kerry – holding a flip-flop, nevertheless! I had to flip-flop that picture!

Well – because Barack HUSSEIN Obama (oops..forgot…we can’t us his middle name) is running no this whole platform of “Change” I figured I would chronicle his changes here. It seems like the only “change” he is for is changing his mind, his stance, and his beliefs all just to become the President. That does not sound like different politics to me. This is most definitely NOT the politics of change. In fact, he has proven that he is a politician through and through. There is nothing any different from him than any of those other scumbags up on Capital Hill. So…lets’ get this thing started: (I apologize – this post is going to be pretty long!)

From the Washington Post

Top Obama Flip-Flops

1. Special interests In January, the Obama campaign described union contributions to the campaigns of Clinton and John Edwards as “special interest” money. Obama changed his tune as he began gathering his own union endorsements. He now refers respectfully to unions as the representatives of “working people” and says he is “thrilled” by their support.

2. Public financing Obama replied “yes” in September 2007 when asked if he would agree to public financing of the presidential election if his GOP opponent did the same. Obama has now attached several conditions to such an agreement, including regulating spending by outside groups. His spokesman says the candidate never committed himself on the matter.

3. The Cuba embargo In January 2004, Obama said it was time “to end the embargo with Cuba” because it had “utterly failed in the effort to overthrow Castro.” Speaking to a Cuban American audience in Miami in August 2007, he said he would not “take off the embargo” as president because it is “an important inducement for change.”

4. Illegal immigration In a March 2004 questionnaire, Obama was asked if the government should “crack down on businesses that hire illegal immigrants.” He replied “Oppose.” In a Jan. 31, 2008, televised debate, he said that “we do have to crack down on those employers that are taking advantage of the situation.”

5. Decriminalization of marijuana While running for the U.S. Senate in January 2004, Obama told Illinois college students that he supported eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana use. In the Oct. 30, 2007, presidential debate, he joined other Democratic candidates in opposing the decriminalization of marijuana.

This is a good one – From the Arabist – an interview with a Palestinian American named Ali Abunimah:

Illinois swept Barack Obama, a rising star in the Democratic party, into the United States Senate with a stunning 70 percent of the vote – a rare Democratic gain. Obama, whom I’ve met many times, has served as my local state senator in the Illinois legislature. I found him to be an inspiring politician, not least because he appeared to understand Middle East issues and take progressive views supporting Palestinian rights and opposing militarism. He participated in many events in the Chicago-area Arab community including a 1998 fundraiser with Edward Said as the keynote speaker. I even made contributions to his campaigns.(emphasis mine)

But following Obama’s nationally-televised address at the Democratic National Convention everything seemed to change. In the campaign’s final weeks, Obama proclaimed his support for tough sanctions and military strikes against Iran if it refused U.S. demands to give up its nuclear programs. According to the Chicago Tribune, Obama now says that the onus of peace in the Middle East “is on the Palestinian leadership, which … must cease violence against Israelis and work ‘to end the incitement against Israel in the Arab world.” The unique fact about Obama’s campaign is that he did not need to parrot the pro-Israel lobby’s standard line to get elected. He ran effectively unopposed. Such a capable and ambitious man must have calculated that any hope of higher office requires that he not offend when it comes to Israel and its interests. This begs the question: If a man like Obama will not speak frankly when it comes to Israel, what hope is there for a change in U.S. policy coming from within the establishment?

So – this guy is saying Barack was FOR the paleoswinian terrorists before he was AGAINST them!

From Dirty Harry’s Place regarding the Iraq War and Timetables:

Well, last night on 60 Minutes Obama stepped in it, flip-flopping on his Iraq position.:

“At a time when American casualties are down, at a time when the violence is down, particularly affecting the Iraqi population, is that the right time to try and set time tables for withdrawing all American troops? I mean you talked about…the end of 2009,” Kroft remarked.

“Yeah, absolutely. I think now is precisely the time. I think that it is very important for us to send a clear signal to the Iraqis that we are not gonna be here permanently. We’re not gonna set up permanent bases. That they are going to have to resolve their differences and get their country functioning,” Obama said.

“And you pull out according to that time table, regardless of the situation? Even if there’s serious sectarian violence?” Kroft asked.

No, I always reserve as commander in chief, (emphasis mine) the right to assess the situation,” Obama replied.

Okay Mr. Obama – which is it? Either you are FOR timetables or AGAINST them..you can’t have it both ways!!! So, if he were the CINC it would be okay for him to make a judgement based on the situation on the ground, but, since he’s not – right now there needs to be a definite timetable for withdrawal?

Candidates flip-flop all over the place

Obama, a longtime advocate for public financing, just announced that he would opt out of the public financing system for the general election. …Obama blamed his decision on Republicans. Meanwhile, he’s the one with the fund-raising advantage, including pivotal backing from MoveOn.org, which isn’t bound by public spending limits and already is running an anti-McCain ad.

Obama did it most famously with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. He was against cutting the controversial minister loose until he was for it. He was also against wearing a flag pin as a knee-jerk symbol of patriotism until he put one on as a knee-jerk symbol of patriotism.

Striking at the heart of Obama’s message of inclusion, campaign volunteers last week barred two Muslim women from sitting behind the podium at an Obama rally in Detroit. They apparently wanted to prevent the women’s headscarves from appearing in photographs with the candidate.

On foreign policy, Obama went from stating that he would meet, without preconditions, with the president of Iran, to saying he would meet “with the appropriate Iranian leaders at a time and place of my choosing — if and only if — it can advance the interests of the United States.”

On personnel, Obama put James A. Johnson, chairman of the Federal National Mortgage Association, in charge of vetting potential running mates. Then he quickly dropped him in the aftermath of news reports that Johnson received favorable deals on loans from the same mortgage lender that Obama criticized.

Wow! This is really fun! Sorry this post is going on so long..but..man, I really did not know just how much flip-flopping and backtracking this guy did until I started to do the research!! How can we trust a man who runs on the platform of “Change” saying he is the politics of new when in fact he is just the same old shit that we’re all used to? Don’t his supporters see any of this?

From The Weekly Standard regarding his position on Iran:

On May 18, 2008 Obama said this:

I mean think about it. Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don’t pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us….You know, Iran, they spend one-one hundredth of what we spend on the military. If Iran ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn’t stand a chance. And we should use that position of strength that we have to be bold enough to go ahead and listen. That doesn’t mean we agree with them on everything. We might not compromise on any issues, but at least we should find out other areas of potential common interest, and we can reduce some of the tensions that has caused us so many problems around the world.

Then on May 19, 2008 (the very next day) he said this:

Iran is a grave threat. It has an illicit nuclear program. It supports terrorism across the region and militias in Iraq. It threatens Israel’s existence. It denies the Holocaust…

He didn’t even wait 24 hours to change his position! But, then again, you saw earlier that he had two different positions in the discussion!

From HotAir.com regarding Jerusalem:

Facing criticism from Palestinians, Sen. Barack Obama acknowledged today that the status of Jerusalem will need to be negotiated in future peace talks, amending a statement earlier in the week that Jerusalem “must remain undivided.”

Obama, during a speech Wednesday to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-israel lobbying group, had called for Jerusalem to become the site of the U.S. embassy, a frequent pledge for U.S. presidential candidates. (It is now in Tel Aviv.) But his statement that Jerusalem should be the undivided capital of Israel drew a swift rebuke from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

From World Net Daily regarding NAFTA:

Just last October, however, Obama announced he would vote for a Peruvian trade agreement that would expand NAFTA into that country.

…In fact, he was the first presidential candidate to declare support for the NAFTA expansion. He was also the keynote speaker at a luncheon of the Hamilton Project – a Wall Street group working to drive a wedge between Democrats and organized labor on globalization issues.

BUT!!! In the Past —-

Obama said he opposed NAFTA from the start and U.S. workers were not the only ones to suffer from its effects. Wages and benefits in Mexico had not been improved by the treaty, he said.

From The Partisan Report on FISA:

Obama’s earlier statement

I strongly oppose retroactive immunity in the FISA bill…. No one should get a free pass to violate the basic civil liberties of the American people – not the President of the United States, and not the telecommunications companies that fell in line with his warrantless surveillance program. [My favorite part here —–>] We have to make clear the lines that cannot be crossed.

According to Obama the line has only been moved back some…not crossed. As can be seen below.Obama on the FISA ‘Compromise’ …

“Given the grave threats that we face, our national security agencies must have the capability to gather intelligence and track down terrorists before they strike, while respecting the rule of law and the privacy and civil liberties of the American people. There is also little doubt that the Bush Administration, with the cooperation of major telecommunications companies, has abused that authority and undermined the Constitution by intercepting the communications of innocent Americans without their knowledge or the required court orders.”That is why last year I opposed the so-called Protect America Act, which expanded the surveillance powers of the government without sufficient independent oversight to protect the privacy and civil liberties of innocent Americans. I have also opposed the granting of retroactive immunity to those who were allegedly complicit in acts of illegal spying in the past.”After months of negotiation, the House today passed a compromise that, while far from perfect, is a marked improvement over last year’s Protect America Act.”Under this compromise legislation, an important tool in the fight against terrorism will continue, but the President’s illegal program of warrantless surveillance will be over. It restores FISA and existing criminal wiretap statutes as the exclusive means to conduct surveillance – making it clear that the President cannot circumvent the law and disregard the civil liberties of the American people. It also firmly re-establishes basic judicial oversight over all domestic surveillance in the future. It does, however, grant retroactive immunity, and I will work in the Senate to remove this provision so that we can seek full accountability for past offenses. But this compromise guarantees a thorough review by the Inspectors General of our national security agencies to determine what took place in the past, and ensures that there will be accountability going forward. By demanding oversight and accountability, a grassroots movement of Americans has helped yield a bill that is far better than the Protect America Act.”It is not all that I would want. But given the legitimate threats we face, providing effective intelligence collection tools with appropriate safeguards is too important to delay. So I support the compromise, but do so with a firm pledge that as President, I will carefully monitor the program, review the report by the Inspectors General, and work with the Congress to take any additional steps I deem necessary to protect the lives – and the liberty – of the American people.”

Here’s a great one from the Official McCain website on Gun Control:

Posted at 11:47 AM on 6/14/2008 by Michael Goldfarb

Obama Flip-Flop on Gun Control? Or New Politics? Or Both?

Barack Obama appeared at a fundraiser in Philadelphia last night where he delivered the following remark:

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”

A couple thoughts from McCain HQ on this. First, Barack Obama has a long track record as a proponent of stringent gun-control regulations–to the point that a questionnaire filled out by his staff, and with the candidate’s handwriting on it, stated that Obama favored a ban on the manufacture, sale, and distribution of handguns. Can we assume that Senator Obama now opposes efforts to ban the possession of handguns?

Second, would Obama be carrying a concealed weapon to this fight? Will he have a permit?

And finally, we’re having second thoughts about our proposed series of town halls.

That last line is pretty funny stuff – even from the McCain camp! Bwahahahaha

From the New York Post on Nuclear Energy:

Yesterday, after signaling opposition to nuclear power, he told Democratic governors he’s open to expanding it.

From the L.A. Times and Carbon Coalition on coal-liquid fuel:

With pressure mounting on Democratic presidential candidates to adopt hard-line positions on curbing global warming, Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday backtracked from his long-held support for a controversial plan to promote the use of coal as an alternative fuel to power motor vehicles.

On Tuesday Obama, whose support for coal-to-liquid has been widely criticized by environmentalists, sent out a press release clarifying his position on liquid coal:

Senator Obama supports research into all technologies to help solve our climate change and energy dependence problems, including shifting our energy use to renewable fuels and investing in technology that could make coal a clean-burning source of energy…However, unless and until this technology is perfected, Senator Obama will not support the development of any coal-to-liquid fuels unless they emit at least 20% less life-cycle carbon than conventional fuels.

I think I’m going to have to end this post here! The more I research – the more I find. This guy makes John Kerry look like an amateur. Let’s put it this way – If I continued with this post – I would lose the readers’ interest. If you do a google search using the parameters “Obama flip flop” you will find 337,000 entries!

Anyway – I think you get the point. This man can’t be trusted. Yes – he truly is the “Candidate of Change!”

He will be the next President of the USA if enough of us don’t start explaining the issues, the real problem with Obama is not his half “Blackness” it’s his Communist whiteness we are concerned with.

McCain is not my ideal candidate, and I am thinking this is the first time I can remember that a NONE OF THE ABOVE vote is actually valid.

He ( Obama) definitely has fascist tendencies where no criticism is allowed, he has a scapegoat to blame for all of his failures, he believes in a government controlled solution to every problem, and he uses demagogy to win over the support of the masses.. Obama is a pompous, arrogant, unqualified, Marxist, elitist, liar.
Lets face it any true American would never sit in a church pew along with his wife and kids for over 20 years and listen to the bigoted sermons and rants of that nut job Rev. Wright.
Folks you better pray for a miracle, because between this moonbat and the likes of Bob Barr running in a 3rd party, we gots trouble right here in the US of A. Lots of trouble, and thats spelled T R O U B L E!

Well BoBo, you changed my mind. I’m just not going to vote this year. Oh wait, I forgot that voting in this country is like, to quote Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, “choosing which pile of vomit to lick first.” But given the choice between a moderate flip flopping politician offering less of the same old bullshit and a right wing flip floppinp politician offering more of the same old bullshit, it’s a no brainer for me. As long as we have politicians running the show, there’s going to be bullshit, but I’ll take less please.

Bob o, Great post and right on………Reading one of the comments. Something to vote for is the SCOTUS nominee….We must get conservative justices in to rightfully, interpret the constitution like Roberts Alito Thomas and Scalia. The others are internationalist and would rather ask what the foreigners would think about this or that issue……..”When in the course of human events…….” Are we there yet!!!!! stay well……

Hi Jason – well – if you keep coming back – I just might change your mind! LOL! I plan on voting as well – It just won’t be for either of these two guys right now! There are other options – Bob (blech) Barr or a write-in. I will fully exercise my right to vote! While reading scary shit like these last few posts definitely has me leaning towards McCain because neither Barr nor a write-in candidate have a shot in hell to keep Obama out – I’m still not that committed yet. McCain just rubs me the wrong way. He’s nothing like Bush though – don’t fall for that same old “Bush’s 3d term” crap the Obama campaign is pushing. McCain is FAR more liberal than Bush ever was.

Tapline – I agree regarding the judges – look at these last 2 major cases – split 5-4 on each – with Roberts, Scalia, Thomas, and Alito as the dissenting votes. The liberal majority supreme court (yes – I consider Kennedy more liberal than conservative) voted to give terrorists access to our courts – and, now they are saying that our children don’t matter – that pedophile rapists due not deserve the harshest punishment this country can deal out.

I still don’t know what the answer is – but I’m looking!

More liberal than Bush ain’t sayin’ much! McCain is still wrong on every issue that’s important to me, and I learned my lesson about throwing away my vote on third party candidates. I really like the idea of third parties, but they need nationwide grassroots infrastructure, not to mention members in lower elected offices to viably run a presidential candidate. If I were choosing based on best mustache, I’d have to go with Barr.

Like Obama followers will see this, I mean, this is a conservative blog yea? But anyways, excellent post I say. The flip-flopping on issues is on both sides, but this year it seems the media isn’t even covering the differences on the Obama side, proving once again that the media has chosen sides even though they should produce independent findings. But also, many of Barack Obama’s supporters support him from ignorance, which is not the way to choose who you want to be president.

If a candidate is making this many changes in what he believes in this late in the game, why can we trust him to make decisions that will effect this country and it’s people?

Bradley, don’t sell our host short. He has more liberal readers than you might think. I don’t speak for all of them, but I personally enjoy reading blogs where I might disagree as long as they are intelligent, non-dogmatic and have a sense of humor.

Perhaps if you actually asked people why they’re voting for Obama, you wouldn’t make such silly generalizations like that it’s out of ignorance. Ask us. We don’t bite. At least not most of us.

Bradley – unfortunately ;) I have to agree (phtt) with Jason the self-professed progressive in that I do indeed have quite a few liberal readers here.

But – I have to agree with you in that there have been some serious flip-flopping on both sides of the aisle – but – unfortunately as you have pointed out – they (the MSM) are completely ignoring Obama’s. It’s up to the conservative talk radio and bloggers to make sure that information gets out there and circulated otherwise people may never hear or see it! The MSM is very liberal biased as has been reported in a UCLA study. The funny thing is – those on the really far left believe that the MSM is too conservative and is taking orders from the Bush administration.

and to follow up on what DD2 said above – not only does he believe he is the messiah – so do his sheep!

I think you might of misunderstood me, or maybe I came across a little bit off than what I was thinking.

The majority of the people I know and that I have seen (most of these people not on blogs like this) support Obama out of ignorance. This is meaning this: A. Because he is a Democrat and they are told they are Democrat too, and B. Because they are black (not a racist remark in and sense). I know this because I have talked to many Obama supporters around my myself, and I have asked them all the same question, “Why do you like Obama?”. The usual answer would be the A and B from above, but sometimes I run into people who know what they are talking about, and seem to be passionate in what they believe, just like I am passionate in what I believe.

I understand how from a political side you can support Obama, but I say he is un-American, as most Democrats are turning out to be. But I also think this of many politicies, no matter what party they come from, because personally I don’t look at what party you are in, I look at what you believe in, and what you think is right for this country.

Bradley, most people are not political junkies like those of us who waste our time on political blogs. I would venture a guess that a good 75% of the electorate couldn’t give you a better answer for why they support the candidate of their choice.

As for the whole un-American thing, I for one think it’s about time we elect an un-American president! Look at the world of shit that American presidents have put us into.

You guys are too funny! Bradley – you’re a racist! You know we white folk can’t call dem black people “black!”

I would have to agree with both of you in that there are a LOT of people out there supporting Obama out of ignorance – and just toeing the party line. We are political junkies and are informed – so – we have no excuses for the decisions we make!!

My cousin is hard-far left to the point he’s almost an anarchist. I had a conversation with him this morning. He’s planning on voting for Obama because he “doesn’t want a third Bush term.” He’s believing that crap. We all know McCain is more Liberal than Bush and there would be no resemblance at all! But – he’s believing the hype. He also said that Obama’s associations have nothing to do with this election – it’s about “restoring power to the people and taking it back from the corporations because the corporations run our country and Obama is separating himself from those corporations” to which I replied – well then why did he back away from public funding? He’s taking money in from those very corporations you so hate. His response “Well, Obama promised that he wasn’t taking any individual donations larger than $200!” I just laughed and then told him to come read this blog and to get better informed!

He won’t do it though – there is no hope for him! But, he’s typical of the majority of our electorate on both sides – they will vote Democrat or Republican without a care of the issues. I couldn’t press him any further – have to keep it cordial. He has Steeler season tickets on the 30yd line 6 rows up fron the bench. I can’t let my source go sour on that one!!!! If there is one thing he and I agree on – It’s that the Steelers are the best team in the NFL (which I remind him is a large corporation!).

    Reply to The BoBo

  16. JasonNo Gravatar Says:

BoBo, I agree that no politician is ever going to bring the power to the people so long as the corporations are paying the bills. While folks on the conservative side see McCain’s differences from Bush as huge, us on the left see fairly minor hair splitting. I don’t think you could possibly make a case that a McCain presidency would not be a whole lot more like a Bush presidency than an Obama presidency would. None of us political junkie types will ever be 100% satisfied with any candidate since it’s a whole lot easier to have ideological purity from behind a keyboard, and I think many times we’re harder on our own guys than the other side.

Every time there’s an election, people like us pull the hairs out of our heads at the stupidity of the masses who are voting for the wrong guy because if they only knew what we know then they’d vote for our guy. This is probably the first time in my life I’m really seeing the futility in all that. Elections are like sports. People pick a team and root for them. And sometimes it’s because of something as dumb as thinking their team has a better looking uniform.

And speaking of sports, if you really don’t want to risk those killer seats, be sure not to tell your cousin about all the evil corporations involved in the sports industrial complex.

    Reply to Jason

  17. Bradley HankinsNo Gravatar Says:

Well, I believe that we the informed should inform the others to the best of our knowledge. No matter what we believe we need to tell the truth about anyone who is running for office. We need to put responsibility back into politics. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Flip-flopping is not as bad as it sounds, as situations do change, and at one point in time something sounds good, and sound good for a long time coming. But once the good comes, you see a chance to make it better, you might have to change what you said a bit. As long as it is for the good of the country, and follow the guide of the Constitution. The United States is unique it in own way (redundant sounding I know), and we must keep it that way. We are still at the top of of the best countries overall, and we can put ourselves back at number one.

Power is power though, some people love power, and will do anything to get it, and do whatever it takes to expand that power. One someone can control people, it can go to their head – which is what I think the media has come to. The media makes everything a entertainment thing. Politics can be quite entertaining, but there should be no “teams”, everyone should be on the same team. And so what if they have different views, good! Not one person can be right on everything unless they first they contrast and compare, and then compromise, or take out, etc.

Even though this sounds like this all be dream thing, we the inform could change the way politics have come to. The power of the internet, TV, radio, etc., we could do wonders. The problem though is that we know that there could be an issue with the people just “follow” others, instead of wanting to change the whole thing. (To not start a major debate, but I have to throw this out there) Obama has done wonders with his word “change”. He’s turn his little political experience (less that many of those around him) into a great thing. The idea of change makes people automatically go over to his side, as the current administrations, and those of the past have gotten the United States off the right road for a bit, and he makes it seems he can get us back to the right road, well, at least to a better one (a different one I say). McCain is no different. He calls himself a Maverick, and says he is nothing like Bush (with some aspects the same of course, they are both Republicans after all). Bush is sort of the label “neocon”, while McCain is a bit left of what a “normal” conservative Republican is. Just like these two, Obama is a bit left of what the Democrats “are” (not to say that it seems they have gone left with him).

Anyways, politics is a trend in a way, and it seems many people pick a side because their friends, family, community, etc says they like the party to. No matter what the candidate of that party is, they will vote and root for that person. They also make it of what the person looks like. For example, JFK and Nixon – many people say because of the televised debate, and because JFK looked so much better (look wise, not policy.. well maybe both, but in this case looks), that many people voted for him. Obama looks fresh, new, and good looking (so the ladies say). McCain is old, and not that good looking (he is old after all), which could throw the outside political groups (those who think this is a silly reality TV show) away from him. Not to just talk about them two, Barr has a snazzy look to him too. But yea, looks are in it too (Just like Glenn Beck saying that Mitt Romney looks like a president, you know, from the movies and such).

I think though, if the media was independent, and not left or right, or chooses sides, then politics, and this country, would be much better. But because some people have gained control of some viewers, and people have been told to choose sides, this country has fallen down the hill, and will keep tumbling until people wake up and notice that this isn’t just a really interesting reality TV show, but real life, and these decisions effect everyone in the world, and it could determine in the end if you will survive, or die out like civilizations of before.

Also, on our way back are going to stay in Sydney for a couple of days. I didn’t want the teachers to go crazy if I wasn’t at school for a month.
