White House to release Obama’s speech to students on Monday.
Posted by: The BoBo // Category: Children, Obama, Politics, SchoolIt is the VERY LAST sentence of this article:
Gibbs: Furor over school speech is “silly season.” – but nevertheless here is what it says:
The White House plans to release the speech online Monday so parents can read it. Obama will deliver the speech at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Va.
I’ll make sure to post and link it here on Monday. Turns out, its not only the public schools that have to worry. I have my kid in a private school and they intend on showing it as well. Depending on what I read on Monday, it is possible my son won’t be in school on Tuesday.
We’ll see!

And, just in case you can’t get enough of The One… he’s going to be on TV again on Wednesday.
Thank God! It’s been almost a week since I’ve seen his jug-eared face.

The county in which I live is sending home slips for parents to sign giving permission as to whether or not their child can view this speech. If I really wanted to know what he thought about my child’s civic and community responsibility, I would have voted for him.
The government is slowly but surely taking away parental rights and replacing them with their own. Pretty soon there won’t even be minimal conversation in homes for fear of children reporting parents for voicing their opinions. I know this sounds 1984ish, but when i read the news and watch these “Representatives” and I use that term loosely, spouting off their rhetoric, I can’t help but look over my shoulder for Big Brother.

Did you see the Special on Fox about “What are Your Kids Reading” in text books? It’s bad enough that our public schools are introducing our children to homosexual and socialist behavior, but now we have Muslim schools teaching their beliefs of hatred of the “Infedels” right under our noses! The Society begins with the children and the values they learn. Something is BROKEN and needs to be FIXED!

As a conservative, I still want my daughters to see the president’s speech. I do not agree with most of his positions, but he is still the president and the office, if nothing else, deserves respect.
I look at the speech as an opportunity to discuss his views and my views with my kids. I cannot shelter my kids from all of the left’s messages, it is impossible and they get to them. I can only give my children another way of looking at the issues and use real world examples to aid me.
Here is an idea to explain tax policy…tax your kids allowance and see how much they like it. Then do a graduated increasing tax scale so the more they earn, the more they are taxed, while reducing their benefits.

@Jan – I did see that special. Actually, I already knew about some of them having had children go through the public school system already. Its for that reason I have my little ones in a private Catholic school.
@Michael – If he were only addressing the middle school and high school kids – I wouldn’t have a problem with it either for the same reason you mentioned. However, since he is addressing kindergarteners and elementary aged school children – I want to see the speech first beforehand. The really little ones may not understand what they are hearing, but, they are impressionable.
