Well – what does it say when Rio beats out Chicago for the Olympics? Personally, I thought of all the cities – Madrid was the more viable location.
Tokyo is overcrowded
Chicago is wrought with crime and fraud
Rio is even worse than Chicago when it comes to crime and fraud
Seriously – when a city known for its kidnapping of foreigners wins over the most corrupt city in America one has to wonder why?
Personally, I think everyone is just plain sick and tired of seeing P-BO on the TV 24/7 and the rest of the world has had it with his out of control spending and tanking of our economy and the dollar.
Can’t say it surprised me that Chicago lost.
h/t to Edisto Joe for this:
UPDATE!! This has got to be the funniest thing I have ever read:
Senator Rowland Burris of Illinois, the Senator who was appointed to fill President Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat, blames George Bush for Chicago not getting the Olympics in 2016. Burris stated in an interview, shortly after the announcement, that the image of the U. S. has been so tarnished in the last 8 years that, even Barack Obama making an unprecedented pitch for the games could not overcome the hatred the world has for us as a result of George Bush.
And as the author of this blog points out:
Of course, it should be noted that Chicago was selected as a finalist in June, 2008. You know, when the guy the whole world is supposed to hate was President. Oh, those crafty foreigners. Consider this an Open Thread.
Will the loony left EVER stop blaming Bush? Their arguments are old, their ideas are old, and their guy in the WH is a failure.

Can we claim that the IOC was racist?

I am going to quote balloon-juice here:
This is the kind of mind-numbingly stupid wankery that we get when people have nothing to say but feel the need to say something anyway. The President went, like every other head of state, to try to get the Olympics for his country. It was awarded to Rio. Nothing else happened,
and anyone who states otherwise is simply sniffing glue. And no matter
what happened, the Republicans would be claiming that it is bad for
Obama.

@Harrison – good one
@VH – Indeed, the IOC is racist – all 95 of the members!
@Grumpy – I know – I didn’t expect any other response from you on this one. The fact is, in the history of the Olympics – no American president has ever used taxpayer money to schill for one American city. This is a gross misuse of our money. If the bill was footed by either Chicago or the state of Illinois, I wouldn’t have had a problem. But, in the long run, what this proves is that Obama no longer is that shining international beacon – he has absolutely no clout whatsoever in the international community. Sending both AF1 and AF2 to Copenhagen was a waste. This would not have benefit America as a whole and therefore was not and should not ever be the concern for any American president.

BoBo:
Thanks for posting the new logo.
Not only was it a waste of taxpayer money, it was a waste of presidential PR. Obama’s advisors put him in a world wide spotlight that at best had a 50-50 chance of success.
They lost, and his stock as a world leader tanks. You can bet there’s a lot of finger pointing inside the White House.
The negatives of failure were never considered. This kind of decision making shows what we can expect in future foriegn policy. God help us!

@Edisto Joe – n/p. I like that logo. You should check out my latest post – it goes to your point regarding his failure in foreign policy.

BoBo I did not expect any more than mind-numbingly stupid wankery from you and yours. There is no failure in foreign policy except for that traitorous DeMint.

Huh..well, I’m a grumpy old woman and a Conservative! Isn’t it a blessing that some of us have not had our brain cells washed with the followers of the ObamaNation.. you know, the Tides Foundation, ACORN, APOLLO, the SEIU.. & on and on.. Bobo is correct when he says the President should have stayed away from Denmark. He should have been meeting with the General for the day, not for the 25 mins. he allowed! I give more time to my dogs!
