He won what? Yeah, right! The Peace Prize? What’s the punch line?
Posted by: The BoBo // Category: America, Obama, P-BO, Politics, President, awardsYou have got to be fucking kidding me! When I first heard this morning, I thought it was a joke. I thought there was going to be a punchline. What in the hell has P-BO done to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize?
All you loons on the left, I want you to really think this through – here is a short list of past Nobel Peace Prize recipients:
- 2007 – Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Al Gore – Global warming debunked
- 2006 – Muhammad Yunus, Grameen Bank Gives money to the poor
- 2005 – International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei – Let third worlds get the nuke
- 2004 – Wangari Maathai Eco-terrorist and activist
- 2003 – Shirin Ebadi – Iranian feminist
- 2002 – Jimmy Carter – The worst American president in history
- 2001 – United Nations, Kofi Annan – The worst and most corrupt U.N. President in history
- 2000 – Kim Dae-jung – South Korean president who appeased dictators (sound familiar?)
- 1994 – Yasser Arafat, Shimon Peres, Yitzhak Rabin Yassir Arafat – Palestinian terrorist leader
- 1990 – Mikhail Gorbachev – Shouldn’t this award have gone to Reagan for forcing Gorbachev to “tear down the wall?”
In the nine months that P-BO came in office, North Korea has moved closer to nuclear weapons, Iran has moved closer to nuclear weapons, we are still at war in Afghanistan, we are still at war in Iraq, Gitmo is still open, we are still at war with terrorists in our country and around the world, Russia still occupies Georgie..and on and on and on. It seems to me that the world has become more dangerous because of P-BO.
All P-BO has done so far is gone around the entire world apologizing and telling the world that America sucks. To give him the Nobel Peace Prize – the most prestigious award known to man – is an absolute joke. Giving this prize to him has completely devalued the award. But, then again, when I look at this list – what I have provided shows that out of the last 20 years, 10 awards were obviously given out as jokes.
The citation on his award states:
“for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”
What? So, I guess if you go around telling the world that America sucks you can get this award? Guess what – after seeing him and the others I listed – who would want to be a recipient of this award knowing it has become an absolute joke since the 1990′s.

It is pathetic that the Nobel committee chose to give the Peace price to someone who has done nothing to deserve it. There are far more worthy candidates for the Peace Prize.

I read this and didn’t think much of it. The Nobel prize is much like the Oscars: I don’t think anyone really takes it seriously. And how can you, after Yassir Arafat won one? I remember well the SNL skit of Arafat winning this, featuring John Denver and Kermit the Frog. That illustrated perfectly how there’s no credibility to this award.

Like I mentioned in another post – actually having a job means that time has to be saved somewhere and this is one of the places most likely to lose the joy of my presence but that being said:Derangement Syndrome being what it is we know you would never have any thing good to say about Obama and/or liberals so it is no surprise that there is nothing but crap available here. People would take you more seriously if you approached topics with a more open POV. I do not necessarily hold myself up as an example of open POV but then when I post here it is almost always in response to something that gets under my skin. I am looking into the project wonderful ads thingy – now that I have some money coming in I might advertise here but it would be something along the lines of “congratulations to President Obama on winning the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009″ – would you be okay with that?
d’Oh! Of course you wold because someone would surely bid up the price to remove the ad – If I posted on some liberal sites about the ‘ad war’ and you posted on conservatives sites – consider the possibilities!
Oh, yeah – I, for one, do not believe that Beck killed and raped that girl in 1999 but I am surprised that he has not denied it.

The Nobel Peace Prize just became the most worthless award in world history…
BUT, maybe they are just trying to counteract my giving Obama The Douchebag of the Week award for 3 weeks in a row!

@VH – I agree – thanks for that link
@Rob – there is no doubt given the recipients these past 2 years especially – the Nobel will fall to the wayside along with the Oscars.
@Grumpy – your comments are always welcome here. However, there is no way anybody who puts any serious thought in to it can come to any other conclusion other than the fact that this award to P-BO is nothing more than a political statement – something that the NPP is not intended to be. P-BO has done absolutely NOTHING to deserve this. He has been very ineffective as a President at this point and has accomplished absolutely nothing towards peace at all. See above.
As for the project wonderful thing – if that doesn’t work for you – check out the CMF ads. Once you pay – you go in rotation and you get the slot all to yourself when it opens up. You can’t be outbid. Likewise, I also have the performancing ads that you pay for a slot and that is your slot for the amount of time you pay for it.
As for the Glenn Beck bit on the rape and murder of a girl in 1990 – good one. You libs really know how to keep a good rumor going – great astroturf stuff.
@TexasFred – I think you’re right. Not only has the NPP been devalued and diminished now because of politics – I think those guys in Norway have been reading your blog!

Okay, I have been away a while but I cannot believe this. I would like to respond to Grumpy Old Man. Sir, with all due respect, there is no way possible Obama could have earned this award. He has not had time to earn it. Bobo was wrong, it does not include Obama’s nine months in office. The nominations for the award are due on Feb. 1 of each year. Obama took office on Jan. 20. Sir, that is only 12 DAYS in office when he was nominated!! Again, with all due respect, please tell me what Obama or anyone could have done in 12 DAYS to even earn a nomination? I ask you to have an open mind about Obama and answer honestly what could have been done in 12 DAYS.
I think you have to come to the conclusion that no one on the face of the earth could have done anything in 12 DAYS to earn a nomination. Therefore, if you don’t earn the nomination, how on God’s green earth can you win the prize??

The Nobel Peace Prize has been degenerating into a farce for quite some time. Too bad, I’m sure it’s not the original intent.

@raider Steve: I am sorry that you are so clueless but please it is not my fault or problem. The fact that you do not understand the Nobel Prize process is not something to be proud of. Please do yourself a favor and try to understand what you write about before you write.@Bobo – you also – I understand your problem, anything that Obama is involved with is tainted schools, puppies, community organizing, doctors, farming, beer, smoking — there is nothing left (heh, heh) that you can enjoy or participate in because Obama has ruined it for you. The depths to which your ODS drags you will give you the bends when you try to surface. The horror – how will America survive a popular president. The very least that Obama did to earn the prize was NOT BE BUSH. Like I said, I no longer have the time to do your research for you. Heck they may have given him the prize just because they knew just how much you guys would hate it.Just so you know – all of the living (and probably most of the dead) recipients of the Peace Prize believe he deserved it.
I especially like Rushbo admitting he would rather side with terrorists than say something nice about the president of the US. Rush has thrown in with Hamas and the Taliban in denouncing the United States President. This is treasonous behavior that you righty-tighty wingnuts would not tolerate on the left.

Grumpy Old Man, please explain the process to all of us and also explain how 12 DAYS even deserves a nomination. For me it has nothing to do with Obama. I don’t think there is a person alive now or ever who deserves a nomination after only 12 DAYS. It is not whether I like Obama or not, but tell me how it is possibly right for the other nominees who have spent years and sometimes lifetimes in the struggle for peace. It was a slap in the face to the other nominees. Those are who I feel the worst for.

I also see you have a problem with respect sir. I have been nothing but respectful to you and I have not even disrepected president Obama. Sir, you know nothing about me and I ask for the same respect I have shown you.

@Grumpy – you pretty much said it – the only reason he got it is because he’s not Bush. As Steve rightfully pointed out, that greatly diminishes the award for those who worked their entire lives at peace who received the award previously.

Bobo – Have you read any of what was said when Lec Lewensa (crap, I am on my way to bed and can’t spell Polish for the life of me). The Nobel Peace Prize is ‘aspirational’ – heck, the entire Nobel enterprise is a process is pretty well misunderstood. Einstein did not get his prize for Relativity etc. There were in the neighborhood of 250 nominees for the Peace prize; but you see NOT BUSH as a negative whereas what many see is all the positive qualities that were not possessed by Bush. @Raider – agreed, I came on too strong – will moderate my ‘outside’ voice a bit – sorry.
I stopped in my office to log this computer off and look where it got me (I forget about this one since I spend most of my time in the living area – my wife and I have his and hers laptops)(I am going to try to log into this site using a ‘naked’ browser tab that does not have all the souped up protections and script blocking enabled).

@Grumpy – the award was not meant to be “aspirational.” I had a whole discussion intended for you, until I read the link that Steve provided. I suggest you take a look at it also.
@Steve – excellent review of the process and how or why they decided to pick P-BO. Having lived in Europe (Germany & Greece) for a combined period of 10 years – I lived in Frankfurt in the 70′s when the Bader-Meinhoff Gang was bombing U.S. military installations, and I lived in Berlin behind the wall - before it came down, and with you in Greece – we know what that was like. I can totally related to the analysis of the Europeans towards America.

To Grumpy Old Man, my comment about this award is not based on any personally like or dislike of Obama. It comes after weighing many factors including analysis such at the one I provided a like. You see, I don’t get information from just CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, FoxNews. I actually go out and look for real analysis. I still say Obama did nothing to deserve the award and feel really disappointed for all the other nominees this year.
