CIRCLE FLIES
A cowboy from Texas attends a social function where Barack Obama is trying to gather more support for his Health Plan. Once he discovers the cowboy is from President Bush’s home area, he starts to belittle him by talking in a southern drawl and single syllable words.
As he was doing that, he kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around his head. The cowboy says, “Y’all havin’ some problem with them circle flies?”
Obama stopped talking and said, “Well, yes, if that’s what they’re called, but I’ve never heard of circle flies.”
“Well Sir,” the cowboy replies, “circle flies hang around ranches. They’re called circle flies because they’re almost always found circling around the back end of a horse.”
“Oh,” Obama replies as he goes back to rambling. But, a moment later he stops and bluntly asks, “Are you calling me a horse’s ass?”
“No, Sir,” the cowboy replies, “I have too much respect for the citizens of this country to call their President a horse’s ass.”
“That’s a good thing,” Obama responds and begins rambling on once more.
After a long pause, the cowboy, in his best Texas drawl says, “Hard to fool them flies, though.”

And h/t to Stop The Presses2 - He left this in my comments:

Some say with surprise
Obama how’d he
get a Peace Prize?
They say how could he have won?
With all his accomplishments
he aint done
Some say the Nobel committee gave him a present
For voting in the U.S. Senate
130 times present
But just in case you missed it
All his accomplishments

Teaching inner city kids
being chased by gangs how to run
The Liberal Nobel committee Obama they did choose
Look at Bush

@Jan – you’re welcome! I trust Mickey more also
@Jana – LOL. I wish I had those mad photo-shop skills
@TFT – really? Okay – so the heads were photo-shopped on – but – the picture is of real people. How on earth is that racist? The heads of the Prez and the first lady are photoshopped on to the bodies of two other black people – and that’s racist? No – it’s satire.
@TexasFred – Personally, I don’t think he thinks its racist – I think he’s just trying to get a rise out of me.

BoBo, using racial stereotypes as you did in your silly picture is racist. Portraying the Obamas (currently POTUS and FLOTUS) as a pimp and his whore, dressed as they are in stereotypiucal fashion is pure racism. If you don’t see that you don’t know what racism is. I assume your argument will be something like, “Well I didn’t mean anything racist by it…” but what you may have meant and how it is perceived are 2 different things, and are mutually exclusive, though not necessarily so. If I am wrong about your potential defense, sorry. What is your defense? That the fake bodies are of real people? How is that a defense? That is so lame. You are smarter than that (I thought)!
Hey EunuchFred from Texas! How’s your latent homosexuality? Maybe we could get together and I could help you come to terms with it?

And ya know, the pic of Obooboo and his pet Wookie in full pimp gear may BE racist, but it doesn’t bother me one bit, I AM a racist, and have NO problem with saying so…

@TFT – I guess if I would have put a picture of one of my black friends on here – that would be racist too simply because a white blogger put a picture of a black man on his blog – then referred to him as black instead of african-american? I don’t need to defend myself – the problem is you don’t recognize satire.
@Harrison – exactly which one? If it were tasteful it wouldn’t be funny!

BoBo, I spelled it out pretty clearly; the racism is in your portrayal of them as a stereotypical “pimp and whore”. It is not a picture of one of your black friends (as if you have any). And even if you and your imaginary black friends decided to get all dressed up and take pictures to post on your blogs, if the pictures were furthering a negative stereotype, that would be racism, like the one we are discussing. I knew you would have a lame excuse!
Calling people “white” or “black” is not racist. Depicting someone as a stereotypical pimp and another as a stereotypical whore in his employ (blacksploitation films come to mind) is nothing but racism. That you find it amusing is the problem, not the excuse.
And if I may speak for Harrison, it is the one I am talking about. The picture is a humorless piece of overt racism that you should be able to see. I am making it my job to help you see it–not so much for you, but for humanity.
At least Texas(lesbian?)Fred/Wilma admits s/he is a racist! And Fred/Freida, I did not call you a homosexual. I merely referred to our last interaction where you made it clear your penchant for balls and eunuchs. You now deny your penchant claiming lesbianism. You are very confused, sexually. There is help for your issues. Send me a note and I can put you in touch with some mental health professionals who can assist you in coming to terms with whatever sexuality issues you are having trouble with.
You see Texas??, by not being a homophobe I am willing to help even with your incredibly confusing, racist, nasty statements. They concern me, Fred/Freida. Get counseling.

@TFT – stereotyping does not equal racism:
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/stereotype
I don’t buy in to your oversensitive definition of racism. I know who
I am and what I believe. Placing a satirical picture of P-BO and the
First P-BO does not make one a racist. If that were the case then
every cartoonist, comedian, or satirist who makes fun of P-BO would be
a racist in your opinion.
@StopThe Presses – good one. I’ll move it up top.

When you say a “satirical” picture, what are you satirizing? You are satirizing their blackness by framing them as a stereotypical black pimp and black whore. Sorry, but satire is reserved to discredit vice or folly. I didn’t know being black was a negative, or a vice, or folly.
Seriously, your inability to see this is frightening. Your defense is so vapid.
Remember the New Yorker cover with the cartoon of the Obamas as terrorists? That was a satire of the “fist bump” they gave each other that made the rounds (and Fox decided to name “The Terrorist Fist-Bump?”).Your “satire” is of what? The time Barack pimped Michelle? You need to use your brain, dude.

@TFT – again – negative stereotyping is not racism – it is just that – negative stereotyping. If I had a picture of a trailor with a pick-up truck on the blocks and titled it “redneck hilton” that would be a stereotype – but – would it also be racist? I think not. Just because I put a picture of our black President in a stereotype of a pimp and a whore does not make it racist. You’re being an overly sensitive libber.
Also – Steve did not admit it is racist – it was a question to you – not an admission. If I were to ask you “So, is your father a cross-dresser?” does that mean that I’m making an admission that I believe your father is a cross-dresser?

I never said stereotype=racism. I said your racial stereotype was racist, and it is. Remember the picture of the Whitehouse that mayor put up with the watermelon patch? That was racist due to the stereotype that black people eat watermelon. No, watermelons aren’t racist, nor is a picture of the Whitehouse. But when the stereotype is used as a racial slur–watermelons and pimps–it’s racist.
About your redneck Hilton, yeah, that might be considered racist, but considering many rural folks have yard cars, black folks included, it would be more accurately categorized as classist. Either way the pictures would be meant to degrade someone purely because of an outward appearance. That smacks of racism.
And Steve’s question was more a question of agreement, not pure interrogation. And I knew Steve was trying to be funny after he made his statement because of the lol he put there. The fact that Steve could so accurately discern the possible racism in the picture, and then make a joke that required the knowledge that it may be racist, shows he knows it’s racist.
I am NOT calling you a racist. I don’t know you. You have been descent to me, more descent than some of your commenters. But you must realize that no matter your views, what you have on this site can be considered racist by many. You just don’t see it, don’t care, or are proud of your posts regardless.

@TFT – I tried to comment over at your blog – but for some reason it’s not allowing comments – here’s what I tried to put up over there
Hey, TFT – something just dawned on me last night – if you are an atheist Jew and you aspire to have your son be one as well – why are you having him go through the Bar Mitzvah? After all, that is a religious coming of age ceremony. As you are quite aware – he will be required to read passages from the Torah. I don’t get it. If you’re an atheist – why would you continue to put your child through religious education and ceremony? If I’m not mistaken, he’s required to go through extensive training (D’var Torah, Haftorah chanting, and the Shima).
As for the answer to your question – why are you so hellbent on trying to call me a racist? I’m with Steve – did you ever see that Wayans movie? Absolutely hysterical – it was nothing but black stereotypes. Are the Wayans brothers and sisters racist also?
Reply to The BoBo

TFT, I did not admit to the photo as being racist. I was just making a joke based on reality.
Would you consider the Wayans Brothers (they are black) film “I am gonna get ya sucker” a racist film? The film is all about these exact stereotypes and is considered very funny satire/comedy?
Look, the truth is, if you want to look for racism, you can make anything racist. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have made careers out of doing just that. The problem is, they and what you have done here, actually take away from acts of real racism.

October 14th, 2009 at 2:30 pm I am not the only parent. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices to please the mother. Besides, the reform temple he goes to is more of a cultural thing, as are the bar and bat mitzvahs they perform. But yes, I am not thrilled with it! As for the movie you reference, I don’t know it. Some people think hurting others is funny, but that doesn’t make it funny. Your picture is not funny, it’s racist. You do realize that self-parody is different? If you were a black pimp maybe then your picture would not be racist. But considering you are a white dude from the south, it comes off as racist.

@TFT – Who’s doing the stereotyping now? So, because I’m a white guy in the south I must be a racist? Florida just happens to be where I moved to and decided to settle. FYI – In my lifetime thus far I have lived, traveled, visited, and toured many more states, cities, and countries than most people only read about in geography books and tour guide maps. When most of you teachers are reading about places in your books to your students, I have actually been to most of those places and I know the language and the history. In fact, I lived in California for a year and I bet I know more about your state and have visited more places in your state than you have. In fact, I bet you I know more about your Jewish history, culture, and language than you do. I learned Hebrew from native Israelis for a year. I have actually been to Israel. You know nothing about me other than I’m a very hard-core conservative with a blog that believe liberals and progressives are set out to destroy the greatest country on Earth.
Now – on the other point – and a lighter note – I get the idea of pleasing mom/wife. I’m just wondering how you will handle it when your son decides that he believes in God and starts telling you that you’re wrong.

October 20th, 2009 at 6:03 pm So I see another of your southern representatives just made a joke about shooting democrats, a couple more do not understand comparing one of their own to a cheap, penny-pinching jew is ‘awkward’ to say the least… the list goes on. I finally stopped scrolling past this piece of shit post and looked closely at it.You are correct sir – we have nothing to say to each other; we have no language in common and seem to barely live in the same world.
