The BoBo Carnival of Politics – October 11, 2009 Edition

Welcome once again to another fine edition of The BoBo Carnival of Politics.  It’s another good day – not only for this edition  – but cuz the Steelers won yet another game!  Go Steelers!

Conservative

Scott Spiegel presents Why Are There No Lilting Sambas About the Junkie from Fuller Park? posted at Scott Spiegel, saying, “I submitted this on Wednesday but didn’t get a ‘receipt confirmed’ e-mail and then forgot about it. Oops!”

Ha ha.  Number 16 is reason enough!

Scott Spiegel presents Please, Sir, I Want Some More Troops posted at Scott Spiegel.
Actually, McChrystal did follow the chain of command.  It is not his fault that the CINC hadn’t responded to his request at the time he was interviewed – after all – his request had been sitting on P-BO’s desk for two months.  P-BO needs to fulfill this request immediately – unless he wants to turn Afghanistan in to Viet Nam.

lsm presents Obama Smiles all the way to China?s Bank. posted at awaken the elephants blog.

Scary stuff – I’ve been reading the same headlines and wondering when China will call in our markers.  It is only a matter of “when” we become Cino-America.

TSW presents Back To Work: How To Rejoin The Workforce After Retirement posted at The Smarter Wallet, saying, “One of the realities we face now, with savings and investments crippled by the economy and stock market value deflation, is a generation of seniors who need to return to work.”

Great advise.  I just read an article from the WSJ this past week regarding the huge losses in government pension funds (teachers, policemen, civil servants, etc.).  Many of these individuals who worked for the government for the last 20 years are now finding they have no pension fund (as are those who retired already and are now getting notice their pensions are being cancelled due to lack of funds).  This is a good post for anyone who finds them in this position.

Democrats

vjack presents Are Democrats as Incapable of Governing as it Appears? posted at Atheist Revolution.

Good God, VJack – while you are absolutely correct that Democrats are incapable of governing – your assertion that they have the better ideology is absolutely ludicrous….unless you believe the ideology of enslaving Americans is good.  You do make some valid points along the way here -but – blaming Republicans for all the woes of America and the world is ludicrous.  Liberal policies and RINO’s who go along with those idiotic socialist policies are to blame.

SVB presents Seeking A Mortgage Loan Modification To Save My Home posted at The Digerati Life, saying, “This article focuses on one person’s financial hardships and how she’s turned to the government (the HUD’s HOPE for Homeowner’s program, in particular), to help her with her challenges.”

Great post.  I’d also like to add one more piece of advise – for those who are just experiencing a very temporary setback and just a little time to get back on their feet – and if a loan modification is not in the books – most mortgage companies will allow you to do deferred principle payments for a short period of time (3 to 6 months) depending on the circumstances.  Essentially, for a short period of time you pay the interest only and defer the principle portion of the payment to the back end of the loan.  Many years ago I was able to avoid foreclosure by setting up an arrangement like this for six months.

Liberal

Madeleine Begun Kane presents Ode To Pro-Rape Republicans posted at Mad Kane’s Political Madness.

Okay – I wouldn’t go as far as saying those who voted against this bill are “pro-rape.”  However, I do believe they were wrong for not voting for this amendment.  Criminal activity should never be able to be arbitrated.  You’re right – they’re wrong – and I’m glad this ultimately passed.

Elisha Webster Emerson presents Healthcare: My Private Politic posted at My Inconvenient Body, saying, “My personal experiences with health care and why what we have to fear is already now.”

Elisha – sorry to hear of your woes.  However, you’re confusing health insurance with affordable access to health care.  One of the reasons the cost of health care is so high is because of government interference, over-the-top and excessive law suits, and health insurance.  The bill on “capital hill” as you put it, is to provide insurance.  It does absolutely nothing to bring down the costs of health care.  In fact, it will actually cause access to health care to become more expensive.  Don’t buy the hype.  Ask for real reform – ask the government to NOT support increasing the rolls of insurance companies.  Ask your representative to push for real reform through tort reform, free-market competition, interstate commerce, and tax breaks for technology.  This is a horrible bill for America. To use your analogy to K-Mart – if physicians were allowed to compete with one another – you could have shopped around until you found a physician willing to charge a reasonable and affordable price for an ear lavage.  If you don’t like what K-Mart is selling and if you don’t like the prices, you could go to another retailer.  The current government regulations do not allow this in health care.  Instead, the current government regulations give the power to the insurance companies to dictate the prices and put the physicians under exclusive agreements.

Libertarian

Archvillain presents Speaking of Domestic Enemies posted at A Dark and Sinister Force for Good, saying, “Police continue to treat the public as their enemies. Aren’t police supposed to be Public Servants?”

Good God almighty – I don’t even know how to respond to this.  My readers need to read this for themselves.  The fact the police got away with this is an absolute tragedy.

Miscellaneous

mrs laughton presents Top 10 Presidential Pets: The Nation’s First Dogs and Cats posted at Online Veterinary Technician Schools.

Okay – only somewhat related to politics.  I’ll leave this here for my interested pet lovers.

News

Baywords presents Collateral Damage in the War on Influenza posted at Swine Flu Shot Safety Program.

Great post.  The Nurembourg Trials and Roberts Commission specifically outline guidelines for utilizing human test subjects.  By forcing Americans to get vaccinated is essentially using human test subjects which is in violation of these guidelines.

Politics

Everett presents Inequality as Usual posted at Honest Inquiry.

Great post Everett.  I think the final point is the most accurate and probably a more reasonable cause – jobs requiring greater skills with higher education leaving those behind who don’t get an education to be in the service sector.  There are those out there who choose NOT to go to school.  Why should people like myself who pay for their own education and move up the food chain be responsible for paying for the likes of those with less ambition?  I don’t get it.

Kathy Wilson presents 10 U.S. Presidents Who Got Their Start in Teaching posted at Online Schools.

Very interesting.  I had no idea.  The one about Clinton in particular surprised me.

smrtas1 presents All Government Healthcare Plans Will Cover Illegals posted at Conservative Patriot HQ.

“You Lie” :) Thanks for those links.  I will promise to use them here as well (obviously crediting you).  Those idiot libbers already know illegals will be covered – they’re trying to lie to the rest of the public that haven’t educated themselves yet.  Keep up the great work over there.

Police may as well be walking tazer machines these days–they’re all too eager to taze Granny in her walker,  a pregnant woman, an old man with a pacemaker, and some smartass punk in a crowded room full of town hallers. The tazer has become a metaphoric replacement for bullets.  The people the police WISH they could shoot, can now be tazered at a whim.Where were the tazers in Chicago, where they’re obviously needed?  Where were the tazers in Philly during the G-20 summit, and why aren’t the tazers being used on the borders?  Questions, questions…oh, but we’re not supposed to challenge authority figures, are we…even if we the taxpayers are footing the tazer bill? The poolice have resorted to tazering because bullets have skyrocketed in price since Obama got elected.  Do they have to resort to tazering the most vulnerable of us to electric shock–people with pacemakers, pregnant women, and the elderly?  You’d think these tazers were a hardware metaphor for a penis, and crowd control now equaled rape and sodomy, providing the same pleasure.

Thanks for the mention, as always. I’m glad to find us in rare agreement. :) My use of the words “pro-rape,” was an exaggeration for effect of course.
