The BoBo Carnival of Politics – October 18, 2009 Edition

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: BoBo, Carnival, Congress, Conservative, Democrats, Liberals, P-BO, Politics, blogs, government, libertarian

Hey all – before we get started with this week’s edition – I just wanted to inform everyone that I will be taking off next weekend from this carnival.  I’ll be out of town – taking the kids to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween.  However, I will be setting up the carnival for November 1 at this time.  You will have two weeks to get submissions in.

Now – on to the fun!

Conservative

Ashok presents A Quick Guide to Right-Wing Extremism on the Web posted at Rethink..

Hmm..guess I have issues given some of the names on your list.  I think some of these people you have listed here aren’t right-wing extremists.  I think you probably have issue with them because they are the only one’s speaking the truth about this administration.

danny1961 presents War solves everything posted at Samson BLinded.

Great piece.  One example you forgot to mention was Japan – particularly Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  Since then, Japan has been peaceful and prosperous.

Scott Spiegel presents Health Care Bill Gains Bipartisan Support from Career Gals of Maine Party posted at Scott Spiegel.

I heard a great line on SNL last night – saying having one Republican is bipartisanship is like saying you’re bilingual if you say “Hola” to your maid.

Democrats

SVB presents The Pros and Cons of Going Into Foreclosure posted at The Digerati Life, saying, “The issues of going into foreclosure.”

While going in to foreclosure could be very damaging to one’s credit – I think you’ve posted some great arguments as to why someone should give serious consideration to it.

Liberal

Madeleine Begun Kane presents Ode To Party-First Republicans posted at Mad Kane’s Political Madness.

I don’t like party-first Republicans either (or Democrats for that matter – they should ALL be America first regardless of party).  However, I’m not sure I see your point on this one.  It wasn’t only Republicans that had things to say about the Nobel win or the loss of the Olympic bid.  There was a 50% split in Chicago alone with the residents there that didn’t want the Olympics – and I’m sure they weren’t split by party.

Glowing Face Man presents Why the United States should implement Basic Income posted at Glowing Face Man, saying, “In this argue, I argue why current economic models over-emphasize human labor, making them more and more obsolete as technology replaces humans in the workplace; and I argue why the solution is a universal Basic Income.”

Wow – talk about a socialist utopian fantasy!  I don’t even know how to respond to this in a brief, succinct manner. My readers will just have to come by there themselves to see this one.

Libertarian

Tim King presents You Wanna Win a Nobel Peace Prize, Too? posted at J. Timothy King’s Freedom Blog, saying, “To promote my new libertarian political blog, I’m mirroring the current Nobel Peace Prize selection process with a just-as-meaningful contest, complete with its own self-serving giveaway prize!”

Pretty cool.  I’ve added my submission!  For all my blogger readers – go check this out and join this contest.  Ultimately, you could win yourself a free autographed copy of his Mr. King’s book. (No, not Stephen King!)

Len Penzo presents Yes, Al Gore, There Is Such A Thing as Global Warming posted at Len Penzo . Com.

As I commented on your blog – this is brilliant!

News

Aetius Romulous presents Give Iran “The Bomb” posted at ScreamBucket.

Hmm..not entirely sure I agree with your reasoning there for giving Iran “the bomb.”  I don’t think it will restore any sort of parity there.  Iran is full of some serious religious nutjobs that are bent on the destruction of Israel and America.  They truly believe the 12th Imam will appear if they start the next holocaust.  This won’t restore parity – it will ensure the destruction of many western countries.

Politics

Lisa Taylor presents 100 Sites Every Civil Liberties Advocate Should Have Bookmarked posted at Online Paralegal Degree, saying, “Don’t get your news on an important issue like civil liberties from just one source. Below are the best 100 civil liberty sites ranging from left to right and everywhere in between.”

A good list for my liberal friends out there.  I don’t think they would agree with you that any of the GOP or conservative sites should be on there though. :)

smrtas1 presents Accounting Tricks in the Baucus Health Care Bill posted at Conservative Patriot HQ.

These are all great points.  However, the biggest trick is that the CBO even scored this bill given the fact there hasn’t been any legislative language written.

smrtas1 presents Do You Have a Cadillac Insurance Plan? posted at Conservative Patriot HQ.

I heard about this as well.  Just another tax on the middle-class that P-BO said would never happen.  So, I guess now if you can afford to have the best insurance possible – you are  penalized.  Just another tax on success by these idiot libbers.  Why should they even care?  This doesn’t apply to them.  They all have cadillac plans at taxpayer expense.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of The BoBo Carnival of Politics using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.

Thanks for publishing the link and hosting the carnival; it’s great to see such a diversity of opinions about politics.I’m not sure that I’m just hammering people for opposition to the administration – my own opposition to the administration is well documented, I link to plenty of resources showing how problematic health care “reform” is and that getting serious about Afghanistan is a priority. I’ve also been going out of my way recently to emphasize my discomfort with abortion and I don’t shy away from writing about religious themes in a sympathetic light. While I’ve linked to a few leftist blogs for the sake of convenience, the arguments I’ve put forth can be confirmed independently. In short: there are some very ugly movements that took advantage of the right’s anti-Bush/anti-gov’t tendencies and entrenched themselves in the Bush years, and now they speak on behalf of those of us who don’t want to get hysterical about everything. The most pressing problem facing the Right isn’t health care; it’s how we say with a straight face Michele Bachmann is qualified to be an elected representative.
