The BoBo Carnival of Politics – December 13, 2009 Edition

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: Politics

Well – submissions this week were pretty light.  I blame that on Blog Carnival.  They’ve had issues for the past few weeks and I guess it turned some people off.  In any case – at least with it being light on the submissions this week I can get through it quicker! :)   Hopefully, now that blogcarnival seems to have their problems fixed – next week we’ll see more submissions.

Conservative

Scott Spiegel presents Copenhagen or Bust (Hint: Bust) posted at Scott Spiegel.

I agree with ya on this one.  It will be a monumental failure.  Given that Sensenbrenner decided to go over there to remind the Copenhagen delegation that no matter what Obama promises to them, it will be up to Congress and the people to actually make that decision.  Great post!

Liberal

Madeleine Begun Kane presents “No-Man” Joe posted at Mad Kane’s Political Madness.

Odd – this didn’t show up in my e-mails.  Joe is right – the only response to this bill for anyone with any brains is “NO.”  This bill does nothing to reform our health CARE system.  Besides, it is unconstitutional since it forced everyone to BUY health insurance which is a consumer product.  The federal government cannot force anyone to buy anything.  If they really wanted to reform health care – they would work on making it more accessible and more affordable – which as absolutely nothing to do with insurance.  Also – a public option is unconstitutional as well.  Again – a public option violates the 10th Amendment.  The problem is that too many people in this country are ignorant and don’t understand what the government limits are and that Congress is overstepping that boundary.  Nice try though!

Susan Gaissert presents Obama and the World Where Nothing is Easy posted at My Political Side, saying, “I’m a progressive Democrat who is currently (still) giving President Obama the benefit of the doubt.”

This didn’t show up in my e-mails either.  Must be a conspiracy against the liberal submissions! :)   I read this post – and just shook my head.  I just hope one day you realize your mistake in your support of Obama.  His Afghanistan decision will result in being just as huge a blunder as was Carter’s decision to try and rescue the hostages in Iran.  His plan is going to get more soldiers and civilians killed unnecessarily.

Miscellaneous

Jennifer Kingsley presents 25 Most Influential People in Healthcare posted at Masters in Health Care.

News

DCTrader presents Financial Bloggers Traders Insights posted at DCTrader.

Very interesting…however, you mention a chart/graphic – but – I don’t see it there.  I’m not real sure what I’m looking at on your page as it doesn’t really look like a typical blog page.  Your point is kinda lost in the jumbled page.  I see where you’re going with the whole “uptick” point of view as it relates to the 2008 market crash – however – it is really hard to follow and your point may be lost because it is so jumbled up.  Sorry.

SVB presents How Our Consumer Debt Problems Got Out of Control posted at The Digerati Life, saying, “How we got into trouble with debt.”

Wow!  That graphic showing the difference between savings and debt is really eye opening.  I knew this country was in trouble – but – I didn’t realize it was that bad.  I hope to be one of those 1/4 households out of debt in 2010.  We had an emergency in August that required us to put $11,000 on one of our cards – we had to have an entire wall replaced in our house (don’t ask).  Other than that – we would have been debt free.  I really like this post and I have it bookmarked for future reference.  I suggest my readers to do the same.

Politics

Emily Moser presents Six Files the US Government Keeps on You, and How to Obtain a Copy posted at Forensic Science Technician.

Very informative, Emily.  I knew about these – but – never knew how to obtain them.  Thanks for this submission.  I’m sure my readers will learn something from it as well.

Ann Margrain presents Water, Oysters and Africa posted at Heroin and Cornflakes, saying, “Two-thirds of Africans whose livelihoods depend on agriculture, received as little as five percent of public resources. This effectively meant that too little was spent on research and development, accessing markets, storage facilities, handling and transport, marketing and trade. Instead the bulk of the money was recycled back to the financial institutions. How?”

I agree that is a problem in Africa.  However, what I noticed you did not point out in your article is the outright corruption in the various African governments.  Not only did most of that money get diverted to the banks – but – it also went in to the pockets of the political elite in those countries – most of whom are part of the U.N. – which further proves the U.N. is just as corrupt.  I think the problem is that many of the rest of the industrialized countries are now tired of having their donations and subsidies being wasted.  I for one don’t want to see another American tax payer dime going to Africa until their countries and governments are reformed.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of The BoBo Carnival of Politics using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.

THE FILIBUSTER MUST GO! It’s undemocratic. It was created to subvert democracy and the will of the people. The Constitution Of The United States only calls for a simple majority vote in the Senate (51 votes). The Senate should pass the strongest Public Option it can with 51 votes.

CRITICAL!! From jacksmith – Working Class

My Fellow Americans and People Of The World

A strong Government-run MEDICARE like Public Option is CRITICAL!!

A Medicare Buy-in at 55 is a GOOD! idea. But!, not a substitute for a strong Medicare like public option CHOICE for everyone. Nor is the (FEHBP). Without a strong public option on day one the Senate health-care bill is a disaster for the American People and the World. Therefore you must KILL!! it. Without a strong public option the health-care reform bill is MUCH WORSE! than what we have now, and what we have now is a catastrophe. SO YOU MUST KILL!! IT.

What is proposed in the Senate is the worst case scenario for health-care reform. It would shift trillions of taxpayer, public and private dollars into the hands of the private insurance industry (The single most costly, deadly and dangerous product sold in America). And it would compel by law millions of Americans to financially support this oxymoronic criminal enterprise. You cant have a MANDATE WITHOUT A STRONG PUBLIC OPTION CHOICE!

You will have NO! realistic way of controlling cost and quality. Cost will continue soaring through the roof bleeding the American people dry, and KILLing our economy. And our quality of healthcare will continue to decline below our current ranking of “WORST! quality of healthcare delivery in the developed World”.

H1N1 IS A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION!

I have to tell you now that the H1N1 virus is a man-made WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION! and TERROR! It is a WEAPONIZED version of a flu virus. It has swept the planet infecting millions. And causing a global pandemic that has killed tens of thousands, and injured millions.

The H1N1 virus is the product of the DISGRACEFUL, GREED DRIVEN PRIVATE FOR PROFIT MEDICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX! It was released in the U.S. in Texas in early January of this year, but not recognized until around April in California. The reason I know this is because when it came to America, it came to see me FIRST! How sweet…

This was around the time the MEDICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX! assaulted the Whitehouse with all their devils deals to cripple and weaken YOUR! healthcare reform. Especially your right to have a single payer system like HR676 (Medicare For All) which most of you wanted.

They don’t even want you to have your HUGE!!! compromise position of a strong government-run MEDICARE like Public Option CHOICE. To compete with their DISGRACEFUL, GREED DRIVEN, MURDEROUS, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT PRODUCT (The single most costly, deadly and dangerous product sold in America).

They also wanted to take away your rights to have your government meet it’s responsibility to use it’s full power to regulate, negotiate, and control drug cost, healthcare cost and quality. Something every other civilized country in the developed World has done for it’s people. Their Greed! moral degeneracy and lack of patriotism knows no bounds.

Many of you will remember that before we knew about H1N1. I posted a open message to the President and Congress warning them to be vigilant about their health, and cautious about any medical advice they received. As I said then “they will not hesitate to try and hurt you”.

The U.S. and the World have been under a BIOLOGICAL TERROR ATTACK! for over a year now. It is CRITICAL that We The People Of The United States take away control of our healthcare system from the GREED DRIVEN MEDICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX!

For our own National security, and the security of the world.

A Strong, government-run, MEDICARE like Public Option CHOICE. Available to everyone on day one, with the full unfettered power of the federal government to regulate, negotiate, and control cost and quality. Would be the most workable way to deal with this global crisis at this time. Including patent suspensions as needed for national security or the greater good.

As an American I invite the peoples of the World to help us fix our healthcare crisis. And bring pressure on our government to meet it’s responsibility to protect global security by controlling, and removing the corrupting influence of GREED and the PRIVATE FOR PROFIT motivations from healthcare in the U.S. and around the World.

I call on the governments of the World and the global intelligence community to track down these MASS MURDERERS, and bring them to justice. CONNECT THE DOTS! And be vigilant that they don’t slip in another viral strain on you under the cloak of H1N1 sequestration.

Further, the proposed patent protection on biologic’s must be stripped from the US bill. And greatly shorten/restricted, or abolished completely. This is a grave danger to humanity and global security.

I think President Obama is doing the best he can at playing the disastrous deck of cards he inherited from the previous administration. And I think he is doing an excellent job. But the wolves and devils of the medical industrial complex! are trying to exploit, and take advantage of his good heart, and desperate desire to help suffering Americans. But we must be strong and insist that healthcare reform be done right for the American people. Or everyone loose’s.

This is all I can say in a message post. I’ll try to find a way to tell you more later.

God Bless You My Fellow Human Beings

    jacksmith – Working Class

p.s. The so-called nominal H1N1 virus is designed in such a way as to make it more lethal to children and young adults. The medical community must be more vigilant of secondary bacterial infections in the young caused by H1N1. And remember, a viral infection is also a transfer of genetic code to you. Think about it, and be vigilant. :-(

Is there any way you can delete my post from your carnival? Nowt because you disagree with me, but because I find the Obama Socialist Joker on your sidebar very offensive. The description of your Carnival on Blog Carnival led me to believe your site was “fair and balanced.” I admit, I should have checked myself. But, the end result is: can you please delete my post? Thank you.

Susan – I’ll remove the post for you. However, how offended were you when the exact same picture using President Bush was published in The New Yorker? Seriously, what exactly is offensive about the picture? As for fair and balanced – I am indeed just that. You obviously haven’t followed my blog otherwise you would see that sometimes I do agree with positions from the other side and I will give credit where credit is due. For you to not participate in the carnival because you find a picture of Obama as the joker offensive is proof that you yourself are not fair or balanced. This same picture was recreated by several people several times and published by various liberal publications over the last couple years of Bush’s presidency – but – no one ever said those pictures were offensive. Sheesh.

Hi, sorry for the problems with the site.  It’s only been up for a couple weeks and I seem to be having some cross browser/Flash issues I wasn’t aware of.  Your right though, it would be kind of hard to follow without the chart.  I’ll send you a jpeg of the chart if you like.  Also if you don’t mind, could you tell me your OS / browser and Flash player version info?  That might help me focus in on those issues.   Thanks.

Well, the government already forces us to be a consumer product — auto insurance. In Arkansas, you can’t tag your car if you don’t have insurance. Of course, the argument is that you’re not forced to buy auto insurance because you could choose to simply park your card in the yard and not register it — the practical impact, however, is that the state is forcing us to purchase auto insurance. That’s rather how the government works, isn’t it? Who could object to making sure all citizens carry auto insurance so that there will be some money to pay off victims of car wrecks? That all sounds like solid public policy, but look at the precedent set there. And, yes, I do realize that we’re talking about state action compared to federal action, but the mechanics are pretty well the same and the same restrictions (thanks to the 14th Amendment) should prohibit a state in engaging in such an activity. It’s not too much of a leap, however, from  forcing us to buy auto insurance to forcing us to buy health insurance.

The Hawg – thanks for the reply – however – you are confusing a right with a privilege. You do not have the right to drive an automobile. Getting a driver’s license and having the ability to drive is a privilege. If you want to exercise that privilege – you need to purchase auto insurance as part of that privilege. Access to health care is not a right and neither is access to health insurance. There is no constitutionally guaranteed right to a healthy life. Maintaining a healthy life is a personal responsibility and therefore purchasing health insurance as part of maintaining a healthy life also is a personal responsibility. They can’t find anything within the constitution that would allow the federal government to force individuals to buy health insurance whether private or federal…which leads to the follow up – yes – Medicare is unconstitutional as well since our contributions are involuntary at this point.
