The BoBo Awards – August 22, 2008

BoBo of The Week AwardThat’s right!!!! It’s back! For those of you who may have come in later – this is an award that I give out to the looniest of the leftard loonies that I find while surfin’ this web.  After my migration from Blogger to WP – I took some time to just get used to this new platform.  Now – it’s time to bring it back!  I have found someone who is just so angry, bitter, and just freakin loony.  I’m almost sure we’re going to get some response from this idiot!

This Week’s BoBo Award goes to Jolly Roger from Reconstitution 2.0 for this most brilliant use of vocabulary that only a libtard such as himself could come up with in a single post about the benefits of a universal health care system – Weathering the Storm All Right? Get Sick Just ONCE oh, and in case you’re not really sure of what he’s talking about – this guy even has a Thesaurus for being able to interpret his hate-speech!

So – let’s see what Mr. Jolly Roger has to say (BTW – this guy is far from Jolly.  Perhaps he’s one of those Butt-Pirates?):

I should confess before I begin this post that I am on a warpath against wingtards and their talking points. I no longer even try to restrain myself when I hear GOP-maunfactured stupidity, whether I like you or I despise you. Since I have several wingtard relatives, my increasing unwillingness to just sit and eat it is making me less than a popular figure at gatherings. I don’t give a damn, nor am I likely to start giving a damn. Wingtards are, by default, the enemies of my family and my country.

This is going to be great!  I sure hope this guy comes over here so we can have a little “chat” about those “talking points” he thinks we all have.  I don’t know – I guess our logic just doesn’t get through to their emotional reactions since they have nothing factual to present!

They are downright giddy about destroying any chance my little girls will have for a decent future in this society, and most of the time their willingness to sacrifice the prosperity of my children is for entirely selfish reasons. “TAXES BAD!!!” is the only mantra these wingtards ever seem to be able to come up with, even AFTER you explain to them that Chimpy’s fiscal and economic policies are directly responsible for the death of the dollar and the subsequent inflation that’s caused in America.

Dude!  Really?  Why don’t you freakin’ take care of your own children yourself MORON!  It is not up to this country or this government to take care of you or your little children!!!  It’s called – personal responsibility.  Teach it to your children!  Send them to school and give them an education so they can take care of themselves.

“Chimpy’s” fiscal policies are the cause of our woes?  Really – please provide some solid hard evidence of this that we can source it back to!  Up until your libtard friends in Congress took control – we were doing EXTREMELY well economically!  The dollar was up, gas prices were down, the housing market was flourishing, the IRS was taking in more revenue every single quarter than in the history of the country (as a direct result of Bush’s fiscal policies), inflation rates were lower , average hourly wages were at their highest ever, and unemployment was at it’s lowest ever.  So – dude – you tell me who’s fault it is?  Please provide supporting evidence.  We “wingtards” use our heads to actually think things through versus your emotion based drivvle of pie-in-the-sky, smoke-up-your-butt falsehoods with no evidence to support your baseless rants.

Somehow, a balanced Federal budget and reasonable inflation are worse than runaway inflation that makes the taxation policies of any liberal you can think of look downright frugal in comparison, insofar as what it’d cost you and me. I would much rather pay the tax and NOT face a doubling or tripling of prices for things like food, gas, and medical care. Wingtards seem to be all right with having Monopoly money in their pockets.

See previous comments!  If you want someone to blame – blame your own inept Dem congressmen that you idiots elected based on false promises, hope, and change (gee where have I heard that one?)  You can’t tax your way out of anything.  Apparently, you did not take economics 101 in college (or did you even go to college?)  When you lower taxes, you increase production, employment, and personal income!  When you increase taxes, unemployment goes up, inflation goes up, and production goes down!  If you really want me to source you to a Economics book – I will – but – all you have to do is google it yourself or pick up an economics book!

Medical care…. that’s where I was going with this. If you tell a wingtard that the time has come for universal healthcare in America, the inevitable response you’ll get is that we “can’t afford” it. Putting aside for a minute that we ALSO can’t afford Chimpy’s war on Iraq, or Chimpy’s failure in Afghanistan, or Chimpy’s wealth transfers to the rich (after all, we’re borrowing around 5 BILLION DOLLARS every single day,) the wingtard mantra makes absolutely no sense at all. Somehow we can’t afford universal healthcare coverage, but the system we have now we CAN afford?!?

Yup – revert to your old libtard mantra of blaming it on an “illegal war in Iraq.”  You guys just keep beating that drum!  One has nothing to do with the other.  I’m not even going to argue the Iraq/Afghanistan thing since you dimwits still don’t get it. Besides, could you please point me to a reputable source where someone from the Right in the government has actually said we can’t afford it?  It seems to me what we are saying is that it is not our responsibility to provide you with your healthcare.  This system of government set up by our forefathers was intended to keep government small and limited in size so that we as individuals could fail or prosper on our own merits or lack of achievement.  If you can’t afford the healthcare yourself – do something about it – you know – like get an education and a real job that pays something and has benefits – or start your own business and build your own personal wealth.  Stop depending on the government to take care of your sorry ass!  Stop blaming the government for your own failures to provide for yourself and your family.

Don’t get me wrong here Mr. Jolly Rogers – I’m in the healthcare profession and currently studying for an advanced degree in Public Health.  I know how both public and private healthcare works in this country.  Private healthcare is a far better cry than public!  I know what a boondoggle and clusterf*ck public health is and trying to get funding.  There is more bureaucracy in public health causing costs to rise and keeps services slow and to a minimum for those who need it.  Private health care costs are lower than public health care costs.

Then he goes on to quote something from the Washington Post that is surely NOT biased!  Right!  Go read that article yourself – you’ll see what I mean.  It’s more boo-hooing about how the low income can’t afford insurance – Well – gee – don’t we already have Medicaid and SCHIP for that?  It also goes on about how costs for Medicare recipients have gone up – oh, wouldn’t that be a case AGAINST universal healthcare Mr. Jolly Rogers?

Welcome to greed-driven healthcare. The reason that the cost of healthcare skyrockets in recessionary times is dirt-simple to understand. In flush times, health insurers will invest in other sectors, and use the profits that they see from those other sectors as part of the overall profit of the insurer, which means that when it comes time to give the CEO of United Healthcare that billion-dollar bonus, he’ll collect some of that from sources other than insurance premiums. But in a downturn, health insurers not only don’t see those investment profits, they are quite likely to see some losses. In this particular downturn, we can assume that some of those losses will be heavy ones.

Guess how health insurers continue to generate those big profits? Yep. They jack up premiums because they can, and they deny claims because they can, and the healthcare system becomes prohibitively expensive for even people who are making a decent amount of money.

Okay – here’s more proof you don’t understand economics, capitalism, and market-driven systems.  Any businessman who increases prices of their goods in an economic downturn is sure to lose their business!  It’s called the law of supply and demand.  You have to find that cost-point equilibrium where you don’t price yourself out of business.  If the cost of healthcare goes up to the point where people can no longer afford it – then those private healthcare insurers will be out of business!  These are PRIVATE profit driven organizations.  You don’t make a profit if people refuse to purchase your services because the cost is too high.  Insurers will begin to lower their prices again, physicians will lower their rates, etc etc etc., in order to attract customers.  When the rates are lower, they will need to attract more customers in order to boost those profits again.  As each insurer drops their rates to attract more customers, it will start a price-lowering competition to attract the customers.  This is what market-driven means.  In public health – the costs are fixed and local and state public health agencies are subsidized by the Federal government (we the taxpayers) to make up for their losses.

I know – that’s over your head.  You would rather rant and complain about the government not helping you. Again, think things through with logic rather than from the emotions.

A “market” driven healthcare system is by its very design destined to collapse as the stock market did in 1929. Across America, Hospitals are closing, people are waiting for HOURS for emergency procedures (wingtards, tell me about those terrible waits in Canada again please,) ambulances are idled because there isn’t enough money available to fuel them, and people are forced out of Hospitals not because they are well enough to leave, but because the insurance company says they have to go. I will quote myself here again; health insurers make a killing by killing people. Let no one forget the story of Nataline Sarkisyan, and understand that what happened to Nataline HAS TO BE HAPPENING MORE OFTEN NOW. It defies common sense and logic to believe otherwise.

Okay – more generalizations up there.  It would have been nice if you had sourced those outrageous statements up there.  I have children and have been to the ER here more times than I would like – and, in each case, we were seen as soon as we walked in and immediately put in treatment rooms.  You’re probably talking about county taxpayer funded hospitals.  Privately owned hospitals don’t operate that way.

With regards to Nataline Sarkisyan up there – yes – that’s tragic.  But, here’s the big difference – her family has recourse – they are suing the insurance company – and no doubt – will probably get redress.  Sure, it won’t bring that young lady back to them – but – it will certainly change the way that private health insurance companies will do business.  Let me give you this one in exchange – Barbara Wagner – Oregon is currently the only state in this country that has Universal Health coverage – this type of rationing is what you can expect at a national level.  You do know that UHC is ENTIRELY based on service rationing, right?  I’m sure you’ve been taking all those public health classes as well and have studied UHC as I have and understand that UHC ONLY covers and pays for the healthy to stay healthy..right?

Oregon has enacted an assisted suicide law where it makes it legal.  Additionally, the Oregon Health Plan covers assisted suicide.  Barbara Wagner has cancer and requires a medication that costs $4000/month.  Instead, the OHP denied her cancer medication and approved drugs to assist her death.  Gee, I want that kind of universal health coverage..don’t you?  Nope..sorry…you’re too old now.  We won’t cover the costs to help you live.  Instead, since you’re so old, we’re going to help you die quicker.  So – to use your phrase – Universal Health Care “makes a killing by killing people” literally!  At least in Nataline’s case, CIGNA did decide to cover her transplant – unfortunately, it was too late.  They weren’t actually trying to kill her like the state of Oregon is with Mrs. Wagner!

In addition to being murderously cruel and prohibitively expensive, healthcare as constituted in the US is the single biggest cost-component of any American-made product or American-offered service. In the best of economic times, the healthcare cost-component is a severe drag on our competitiveness in the world marketplace; in times like these, it’s an absolutely suffocating one. There is absolutely no reason for retaining the “market” driven healthcare system, and every reason to jettison it as soon as possible. If we don’t, just about all of us are destined to become its victims, either financially or physically.

Dude – you really don’t like sourcing anything do you?  Here’s that actual “single biggest cost-component of any American-made product or American-offered service”…It’s the COST of GOODS which is about 50% of the total cost!  Health care is included in “Employee Benefit Programs” which also includes 401k’s, vacation time, sick time, tuition reimbursement, etc.  Total cost of the benefit programs are approximately 1 – 2% of the total costs.  That link I provided is broken out by business sector – in each case the amounts are relatively the same.  Health care costs are some of the smallest of the cost-components of American-made products and services.  The next largest components are Salary and Wages – approximately 10%, Interest – approximately 10%, and Amortization – approximately 10%. You really need to do better research!

So – for putting out such an emotion laden unsupported rant supporting Universal Health Care (and just because you’re a wingnut) – you get this week’s BoBo Award!  Wear it proudly my friend!  If you do decide to respond to this over here – and if you really need me to – I will give you enough peer reviewed journal documentation regarding Universal Health Care and rationing of care to the point that countries like England, Cuba, and Canada have let people die without receiving treatment at all that it will overwhelm you.

Not for necessary commodities. Health care is a necessary industry with necessary commodities. What you state is true for luxury items or industries with competition, but not for all industries.
Private health care costs are lower than public health care costs.
Again, not true. Not in the US economy, not with regards to private, single payer VS group rates, and not with regards to how the National health care plan is being proposed.

I didn’t expect anything less from you guys!  Oh – and tried at the Hague? Puhleeze.  Could you have come up with an even more ignorant response to this post than that?  Completely dodging the issue is what you do best.  Oh well, at least I tried.

Jeff – Bush didn’t get us to where we are at now – and – no – I don’t believe we are doing extremely well economically.  We are doing a helluva better than the economy Bush took over from the Clintons though.  We’re still doing better than the 6 months post 9/11.  Gas prices and consumer goods costs might be up – but – all the economic indicators are still up.  CPE, GDP, and GNP are still making advances.  However, where it hits us all in the wallet is at the pump and grocery stores.  This you can blame on the Dems in Congress.  Everything was doing well prior to 2006 when they took over.

No – actually they drowned because, while Bush called both Nagin and Blanco THREE days in advance of the hurricane and pleaded with them to evacuate the city – those idiots did nothing.  Additionally, it’s up to the Governor of the state to activate the national guard and to make a request from the Federal government for assistance.  The federal government is NOT allowed to provide any type of assistance to a state unless specifically requested.  You did study American Government in school – or – did you sleep through that along with that economics class?  Who said they hid the buses?  Everyone saw very clearly that they remained in the city parking lot in clear sight.  The problem is that Nagin was too stupid to activate disaster protocols to have those buses ready.

The blame lies solely on the governor of LA and the mayor of NO.  Bush did what any good President does and accepts responsibility.  However, there really was nothing else the Feds could have done until they got that call from Blanco making the request.  You can’t blame FEMA or anybody else for a “slow” response.

The rebuttal only seems stupid to you because you don’t have anything to actually refute it.  Again, you resort to trying to change the subject by bringing up a totally unrelated issue.  Stick to the issue at point Mr. Roger.  Again – what talking points?  I am an independent thinker having done my own research (reference previous links) and I don’t rely on resorting to gutter rhetoric and slight of hand as you guys do.

Most people (and all Liberals/Progressives) believe that our health care system operates in a complete free-market because they can go out and buy private insurance. Nothing could be further from the truth. The health care market is dominated by federal and state governments (Medicare, Medical in California, SCHIP) and their mandates which is why there are so many market distortions that adversely affect access to health care and quality. The faster we get the government out of our health care system, the better we will all be. Dear Liberals, if you want more poor quality and less innovative health care—then keep pushing the mantra of “universal” health care. Once Americans figure out the sham that it is, Liberalism will be a dead political philosophy for decades.

@Anok – okay – I finally got a chance to get around and answer you -

For personal matters yes, unfortunately since we have a government that affects the country – and land/world we must live in, they bear responsibility too. Legislation passed today will affect those tomorrow.

Actually – that’s the whole point with regards to personal responsibility and the government – they need to get the hell out of our personal lives and stop passing legislation that affects us all in a manner that prevents us from making our own choices. Those libs rely too much on the government to tell them what to do – I say – f*ck that! Make your own decisions and take responsibility for your own actions and your own destiny. We don’t want the government passing entitlement legislation.

Not for necessary commodities. Health care is a necessary industry with necessary commodities. What you state is true for luxury items or industries with competition, but not for all industries.

Health care may be a necessary industry and commodity, but insurance is not. Health insurance is a luxury item. Health care services are not. Medical expense/Health insurance policies were not even issued until the 1950′s after the New Deal. Up until that point, all health care and medical expenses were paid directly out of pocket. The only types of insurance available prior to that were either accident and injury policies or life insurance policies. It was the advent of Medicare that prompted the idea of issuing health insurance policies. So – no – I don’t believe that everyone is ENTITLED to health insurance. What I do believe in is that everyone should have access to affordable health care – mostly preventive medicine. A preventive medicine approach would keep people healthier and out of the hospitals and emergency rooms.

That is a slant on the actual story. She and others in her position, are given the choice, but are not forced.

Seriously, Anok? Are you sure you wanted to phrase this statement in that way? Gee, she wasn’t forced to take the medicine to kill herself instead of the medicine to heal her, she was given a choice to either take the medicine that would kill her or not. She still did not receive the medicine to help heal her. What the hell kind of choice is that? Die slowly or die sooner?

Are you sure you aren’t confusing stories with the ones you’ve heard about here? Like the woman who died in the waiting room at the ER in NY?

Nope – like I said – that was a county funded county funded (government controlled) facility (Kings County Hospital Center). It was a government run psychiatric facility. It was not a privately owned hospital. This is why I don’t want government controlled healthcare – they watch people die or they help people die – they don’t take care of you.

@Tasha – glad to know you got my back out there!  We evil clowns need all the support we can get! ;)

@Larry – I tried to read Marx once – but when I started speaking Russian in my sleep I figured it was time to give it up!

@BiW – nice to see ya here!  I found the Jolly Roger through another blog – he was calling me all kinds of names like – racist and neocon and other stuff like that.  So, I followed him over to his blog.  When I started reading the hate and vitriol filled posts over there…I just knew I had to call him out!  He brought his lacky friend Mateo over here with him.  These guys are just out there!  I’m surprised they can function on a day-to-day basis without going out on a murder spree!

Well, you can keep them, Bobo.  I’m a little busy with work right now, and I’d hate to have to spend the time schooling them on the myth of international law.  From what I’ve seen in the comments here, they are like children who learned that if they mouth off, people will pay attention to them.  Ill-informed, clue-deficient, and eager for the attention.  Less time in Mommie’s basement and more time with a job might bring them into the real “Reality Based Community”.

Well I must say that’s a deserved award.. LOL
When Professors are teaching our kids not with facts but emotion, when our laws become more guidelines than rules, and when wrong is “Reasoned” into right we as a society are on the verge of ending.
We as a nation have become dependent on Government, as is evident by those pushing for Universal Health Care, and More Government handouts. The reason for that starts in the Grade schools these days where competition is frowned upon, and everyone wins is standard. As folks grow up they are given cross communications. Everyone is a winner no matter what, meets Work hard and do your best and play to win.
I love how the lefty’s blame everything on GWB, they love to say IRAQ this and that.. If it wasn’t for Iraq there would be money for this handout or that handout…sad really sad. Do you honestly think the money would go where you want it?
The Demorats have been in charge of the power house for 2 years and have accomplished……yeah I am drawing a blank too. can’t wait to see more of that.
