First – just wanted to say thanks to the many of you who dropped by yesterday looking for new material, commentary, etc…and for posting comments on existing discussions. You obviously noted that I did not post anything yesterday. Well – that is one of two days that is really difficult for me. I purposely chose not to post anything and just took the day to veg and chill out.
This year, 9/11 kind of crept up on me. I wasn’t really prepared for it. I’ve been so busy with everything else that when it arrived – it came about slowly. I woke up yesterday morning like any other day, but, I was in an unusual funk..couldn’t quite put my finger on it. It wasn’t until I was driving in to work and at 8:43am the DJ on the radio announced that this is now the exact time 7 years ago when the first plane struck the WTC – then it all hit me. Now I understood why I was in the mood I was in. Even though I didn’t openly recognize the date, my subconscious knew.
I purposely chose not to post anything yesterday because I knew it would be nothing but an incoherent rant and babble on for pages. Each year when 9/11 comes around, I remember that day vividly and everything that happened on that day for me physically and emotionally. Don’t get me wrong here – I don’t have any personal story of tragedy surrounding that day. For me, growing up in a military family and having served my country myself – that day was an emotionally charged day as we learned that our country was under attack by a sinister enemy. The images of those islamofascist bastards dancing in the streets as our fellow Americans are jumping out of the windows of the burning towers hundreds of stories up has been burned in to my brain.
Yesterday’s post would have just been one hate filled rant after another – and – that is not what I want to put out here on a day like that. That is a day of remembrance. A solemn day. But, it should also be a day that we as Americans SHOULD be able to come together again and remember who the real enemy is and why our soldiers do what they do. Instead, for me, I just get angrier each year. Angrier because that bastard Bin Laden still has not paid for his crime either behind bars or in a pool of blood. I get angrier because we still have not rebuilt the towers – and – it is a testament to the terrorists and each day that pit remains empty is another victorious day for THEM. I get angrier because we are still playing footsies over in Iraq and Afghanistan rather than just send all of our military might in there to take care of those islamofascists once and for all. I get even angrier when I see these 9/11-deniers out there protesting at the empty WTC site – blaming our country and President Bush for the attacks. But, what really pisses me off on that day is that too many people have forgotten. The media refuses to play the video images of that day in fear that it would offend muslims in this country and be a bad reminder. I don’t really give a shit! The reason why so many people have forgotten and so many people continue to insist that it’s an inside job is because we don’t get to see the pictures and footage any more unless we search for them on the Internet.
This is a horrible tragedy and a direct attack on our country and our people. EVERYONE needs to be reminded of this day and remember what it felt like 7 years ago. Those images need to be played over and over again. Perhaps if the people remember how they felt, we might be able to get things accomplished. Perhaps the memorials might actually get built. Perhaps the towers would be replaced if we are motivated to prove to those bastards they didn’t win. Perhaps those deniers wouldn’t be so quick to jump on that idiotic bandwagon if they saw the actual footage rather than some cropped, slowed down, and manipulated images. Perhaps Washington might actually get behind our troops and give them the full support they need and let the generals run the show.
But – we will never know – because that loony left liberal media doesn’t want to offend the muslims. For those of us who actually remember it every day, whether consciously or internally, and continue to seek out the images and video footage to remind yourself and others – Thanks!

UPDATE: One of my fellow Tampa Bay blogger buddies (The Tampa Pirate) – posts this up – He has a lot of the footage and stills from that day: Today Isn’t A Day For Politics
After you’ve read and seen that one – here’s why we do it – I bet you completely missed this in the mainstream media outlets. From American Infidel: Iraqi President to President Bush: “We in Iraq are looking to you as a hero of liberation of Iraqis”
and great minds think alike – My good buddy, Greg, over at 454monte.com apparently didn’t blog up anything on Thursday either: Never Forget

Bobo, Thanks for the 9/11 post. I think all Americans should see these images everyday. It should be a constant reminder of what happened. A constant reminder of how we need to keep pressing the fight against the terrorists responsible and those who have or might support them. I truly believe in this case either you are with us or against us.

Bobo, excellent post. I really appreciate your opinions (as a veteran) about that day because I did not serve in the military, and I can only imagine how that day must have affected veterans differently than civilians. Your poignant statement that the footage should be shown on a regular basis got me thinking, because I have to turn away every time I see those towers getting hit, and especially any photos or footage of innocent people jumping to their deaths (it’s not the carnage that bothers me. It is, as you said, the idea of who did it and also the idiots dancing in the streets over it). But, I agree with you that the liberal media purposely does not show the footage because it WOULD keep the anger fresh in people’s hearts and they would not be so quick to bash Bush over it. So you are probably right – the footage should be shown regularly!!

@Steve & Matt – thanks for the back-up on that. I know the images can be hard to swallow – but – I hate to say it – I still live with them. There are some days where little reminders pop up like a song I was listening to on the radio on the way in to work that morning, or something that someone says, or even watching a movie with similar images. Every time I fly – I get pissed. In fact, I was on one of the very first flights out of Tampa the day the FAA allowed the birds back in the air. I have no fear of flying because I know it’s a lot safer these days. Every time I fly American or United, or when I fly through Logan on other airlines – these are all reminders for me.
Every thought and emotion I felt that day comes rushing back. This country has become complacent again because too many people have forgotten what they felt that day. They have forgotten how we all came together the day after. They all forgot how we felt a couple days later when G.W.B. was on top of the rubble with his bullhorn telling those terrorists we will hunt them down no matter where they hide. We had a common enemy and we were all Americans on that day – there was no division. Then, we turned on the TV’s and we no longer saw the images any longer. No one was allowed to talk about it.
Just look at what Keith Olberman said during the RNC when the campaign showed the footage from 9/11. He chastised the McCain camp for showing it. Since when is it wrong for us to be reminded of that horrible day? If Pearl Harbor was the day that shall live in infamy, then 9/11 has become the day that shall live in obscurity.
Sorry – got on that rant again! But, this is an emotional issue for me..and that’s why I didn’t blog on that day.
Monica – I’m with ya!

BoBo,
I was of the same mind set, there simply weren’t many words to be had.
I finally put some up this morning but for me, there really still isn’t much to say.

Am I going to be the voice of dissent on this otherwise worth reading blog?
“I get angrier because we are still playing footsies over in Iraq and Afghanistan rather than just send all of our military might in there to take care of those islamofascists once and for all.”
Wrote The Bobo. Some will agree, some won’t. That’s beside the point which is will/would it work? That is where you have to think hard, very hard and even harder… and you will remember all the lost wars and show of force of the mighy US. You will remember Vietnam, Somalia and Cuba. And beyond you will remember all those who thought that military strenght equal success. You will remember Japan, the USSR, and you will also remember the Mighty Brittish Empire that is no more but in recession. Then you might have your answer.
@Steve
“A constant reminder of how we need to keep pressing the fight against the terrorists responsible and those who have or might support them. I truly believe in this case either you are with us or against us. “
Shouldn’t it something you should have done before? In the days where you where funding Bin Laden and shaking hands with Saddam? It is the past, but maybe you should ask yourself who are the terrorists you are currently supporting and that one day will turn on you. Because when this will happen, it will be to late to say that “you should press against them”.
It is not really about dissent, but about perspective. And as much as I agree that it was a terrible day, I don’t think the Liberals wants to forget it or be nice with terrorists.

Roger,The problem with liberals like you is you always take what you know today and attempt to apply that knowledge to decisions made 20 or more years ago. In the case of Bin Laden, he was leading a group fighting the Soviets in Afghanistan. It was at the height of the Cold War and we were helping those who were fighting the invasion but also trying to stop the spread of communism (along with many other things). When a decision is made to support a group who is fighting your enemy, sometimes you have to give support to a group you most likely would not support otherwise. If you wait to find an ally who most certainly not be your enemy in the future, then you may never find that ally. The support of Saddam has to be put into context as well. Our support of Saddam came on the heels of the Iranian revolution and 444 days of captivity for Americans held hostage by what is really the start of Islamofacism with the Khomeini takeover of Iran. The support of Saddam also served the purpose of trying to contain the spread of ultra Islamist governments throughout the Middle East. The decision to support these individuals has to remain in those contexts and cannot be second guessed with what we know today. If you wait to see what will happen, then you will never make a decision. And in the adult world in which liberals seem to be unable to live in, events force decisions and actions must be taken. Another thing liberals seem to forget, military action is a result of the failure of diplomacy. I seem to remember a bunch of talking and diplomacy in the UN over the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. True, diplomacy is the first thing that must be tried in any international dispute, but one has to recognize when diplomacy fails and action must be taken. In Iran, I am sure Jimmy Carter would say he tried diplomacy but it wasn’t until the threat of Ronald Reagan using all the military force the US could bring to bare on the Iranians did the Khomeini regime decided to let the hostages go. Now we have a presidential candidate who wants to take us back to the days of all talk, no action. Obama says he wants to talk to Ahmadinejad without pre-conditions. That is crazy. He would talk right up to the point that the Iranians develop nuclear weapons just as Clinton did with the North Koreans. That is why the Ahmadinejad government and its religious council overseer want Obama to win. They know they will get their nuclear weapons. At least McCain understands Iran obtaining nuclear weapons is just not an option. Here is how the diplomacy should go with the Iranian government; Stop developing nuclear weapons or we will destroy your weapons capabilities and your nuclear power stations. You have one week!. You see you give them a choice. If they choose not to stop, one week later you bomb their nuclear power facilities and their weapons development program. Once that is done, you move on to Syria. How many times do you think this will happen before countries like Iran will say, hey, those guys are serious!! Crisis solved. Talk without action to back it up is doomed to fail.

BoBo,
Thanks for the props. Great post on 9-11. I just couldn’t blog either. The day snuck up on me really quickly and then I realized, I am starting to forget too. I had to ground myself again in what I believe and what that day means to us. With this election coming up I need to get back to work exposing the lies of the left and sometimes the right.
Thanks again.

I posted, just because it had been a while since I posted, and I just felt the need to. Every time I re-watch the footage, every time I see the pictures, I just get a rush of patriotism, and that feeling that we need to crush those who did this on our own soil, and crush those who support those same people. Even in this politically correct world which has taken over the common sense of society, I have to believe that those people who say they have common sense would agree with me that if we are attacked on our own soil, then we shall attack back. There is no talk about that. They attacked first, and we are attacking back to destroy them.
I personally would be fine if these images where shown everyday on television. Propaganda always works, and 9/11 had an effect on every American, and many others throughout the world. It showed us that there are people who hate us, and do not believe in the ideals in which we believe in: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We must stick behind in what believe in, and pursue those same goals for the whole world, and just not hold it for ourselves.
9/11 will be a day we will all always remember, and we will always have the same feelings, even when we complete the job of destroying the enemies, and creating a much more peacful world. But until then, we must also fight at home, and show Americans again what it means to be free, and remind each and every one of this the horrors in which the world has, the evil which the world is, and the goodness in which it could be.

Hey Bradley – thanks for your comment! It’s always great to hear the perspective on this whole thing from our younger generation. You guys have to live with the mistakes we’vemade and the world that was created without your input. Its always good to know there are yung’ns out there with good heads on their shoulders (as you do). Nice seein ya again.
