McCain will need to do a little better than that if he wants to win this thing (BoBo’s Post Debate Analysis)

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: Conservative, Democrats, Liberals, McCain, Obama, Politics, President, Republicans, Socialism, Taxes

Well – McCain certainly started of strong last night! But, once again he has proven that he just cannot close the deal on a debate.

Perhaps it’s just that he isn’t really a good debater at all.  Who knows.  But, he did make some really strong statements coming out of the shoot.  I was particularly impressed that he actually distanced himself from the “McSame” campaign rhetoric with his statement “I’m not President Bush.  If you wanted to run against President Bush you should have run four years ago.”

I was also pleased to see that he brought up the Ayers and ACORN connections – but – this is where he just does not follow through – he allowed Obama to skate and lie on the answer.  McCain should have immediately brought up the direct connections -  there are enough of them out there for pete’s sake!

Obama showed that he has no problem at all with spitting out the lies.  There is irrefutable evidence on his record showing that he has either voted against tax cuts or voted for tax increases a total of 94 times.  There is irrefutable evidence that he did indeed vote against the Born Alive bill – but – not for the reason he stated.  McCain was right to bring up the “health of the mother” issue in that it is indeed used as a blanket excuse with no clear definition of just what “health of the mother” means.  Obama has twisted it to also include “mental stress” if a mother chooses to keep the baby and raise it as part of that definition.

All one needs to do is go read the transcripts from those Illinois hearings and the testimony given by the nurses who held live born failed abortions until they died because they were not allowed to give live saving measures to these innocent children who were born.

Looks like Joe The Plumber is on the circuit thanks to McCain.  McCain hit strong on this issue as this was a clear cut moment that identified Obama as a socialist.  Obama clearly told Joe that he was “for spreading the wealth.”  This is further proof that Obama wants to raise taxes and give it to the poor.  Joe should be angry at Obama.  The media is out there lambasting Joe Wurzelbacher because they are saying he doesn’t currently make $250,000/year.

That’s not the point – and McCain should have hammered that home as well last night.  The point is, Joe wants to buy that plumbing business so that he CAN make $250,000+ a year.  He wants to grow that business and hire more employees and become successful.  Obama’s tax plan will punish Joe for his success.

Another thing that the McCain campaign needs to do – and he should have pointed out last night – is that it is factually incorrect for Obama to say that 98% of small businesses make less than $250,000.  The fact is that small businesses make up 50.9% of all businesses in this country with 25% of those reporting gross incomes above the $250,000 threshold according to the Small Business Association.  So – that means the actual number is 75% of small businesses make less than $250,000/year.  That means Obama will still be taxing about 65% of all businesses in this country.  His numbers are way off and McCain needs to come out stronger here.

But – the bottom line is – McCain is still pussyfooting around and needs to start hitting harder on Obama’s radical associations and really point out Obama’s lies rather than referring people back to “the record.”  McCain needs to put factual in-your-face numbers out there to the people.  I watched the Fox news post-debate focus group interview of independent voters.  They thought it was important to bring up Obama’s past associations as it shows judgement and character.  One guy was saying “guilt by association” doesn’t matter.  McCain needs to show it isn’t guilt by association – Obama was actively involved with all of these people.

The Independents will be the ones who decide this election and McCain needs to listen to what they want to hear.  The issues are important – but – so is Obama’s background and history.  The main stream media refuses to report and investigate – so – it will be up to McCain to make sure they hear it from him with some solid irrefutable facts.

And..if you think I’ve said something here – check out Angel – she has it all down: Presidential Debate: McCain vs. Hussein Obama

Last thing – Bob Schieffer was awesome.  This was by far the best moderated debate of all of them.  He stuck to the timelines and actually made both of them answer the questions.  WTG Bob!

And this is where America loses big time, in the realm of social justice. Sad to say that Americans are or should I say the Republican holdouts fails to see the benefits of social equity. America would be an even greater country if everyone is progressive. There lies there glitch in capitalism, it nurtures oligarchies.

Schumey – thanks for stopping in and commenting.  However, you will need to provide me with absolute proof that a socialist system works.  From what I’ve seen around the world, socialism has failed miserably.  It also appears that you have not read my previous articles on social justice.  The leading thinkers on social justice did not subscribe to a “share the wealth” attitude.  These marxist attributes were later adopted by Karl Marx and his followers.

The original intent of social justice and social equity is that those who do the work get to keep their property and earnings.  Karl Marx came along later and totally screwed that ideology all to hell.

Socialism breeds apathy.  When people become dependent on the government to provide them with a living, healthcare, a home, etc – the people have effectively given up their rights to the government.  This country was not founded on those principles at all.  This country was founded on the rights of an individual to achieve “Life, Liberty, and Happiness” through their own hard work and success – without government interference.

If you can show me a socialist system that works – I’ll give you credit.  But – there are none.  Thus far, any country or government that has adopted a socialist policy has failed the people.  The government has taken the rights from their people and the only one’s who benefit from a socialist government are those in the government – those in power over the people.

This country was founded on the principle that success is rewarded and failure is just a stumbling block to learn from on the road to success.  Those who do not work hard should not benefit from the successes of those who do.

Where is the justice in me working my butt off my entire life, paying for my own college education, working my way up the food chain to become successful, only to have the government punish my own self-made success by taking my money to give it to the slacker high school drop out who refuses to do anything to better himself?  That is not social equity – that is wealth redistribution.  Socialism punishes success.

Bobo, you really need to read this.  Remember how I said that Barack was a member of a socialist party?  I have all the evidence documented including three of the socialist party’s archived web pages stating that Barack Obama was a member.http://therightwing.net/index.php/2008/10/16/obamas-membership-in-the-socialist-new-party/

The mainstream media have given Obama a sweet time–not one has questioned Obama’s ethics on campaign finance. Obama said one thing and did another. How can anybody trust this guy? McCain really needed to hammer Obama on the economy and the whole “I’m going to give 95% of Americans a tax cut” crap.

None of this is changing my vote to McCain, BUT I was disappointed when McCain didn’t put 2 and 2 together about the “Plumber” and his business. The “Plumber” was worried about being taxed more under Obama and Obama told him he should spread his wealth. McCain says that once Joe owns a small business, Obama would tax him more. Obama said he wouldn’t. The fact is, if Joe is making enough money to be taxed higher as an individual, he certainly would be taxed more as the owner of the business he works for. McCain didn’t effectively say there that Obama doublespoke. He missed an opportunity to show that Obama only says what he thinks people want to hear.

Josie, so you would still vote for Obama knowing he is a socialist?

    Bobo,
Alas, I feel a McCain victory is not in the cards.  No matter how hard McCain works to show people what Obama is really all about, the media basically defends Obama.  Nothing McCain says seems to stick.
I have already cast my ballot in early voting here in South Carolina and you can put one in the books for McCain but unless Obama has an October surprise, I think it is over.
Hopefully I am wrong and McCain pulls this out, but in the event he doesn’t, with Obama in the White House and the Dems in control of both the House and Senate, I think we are in for a one term President and huge Republican gains in the next two to four years.  The only real lasting damage Obama can do in four years is if more than one Supreme Court justices retires.

@John – thanks for that link – that is indeed very interesting and a good follow-up to your previous post on the subject – I’ll link it back from here.  Also – regarding Josie – she’s very libertarian and hasn’t been a McCain supporter from the beginning – BUT – she’s definitely now Obama supporter.

@Josie – I too was left very disappointed by McCain in that debate.  He could have done much better on the follow-ups.

@Tapline – thanks again for dropping by and for the compliment.  I do what I can! :D

@Steve – I’m still the optimist here.  I won’t give in until the last vote is counted on November 4th.  However, I do believe you are correct in your assumptions should Obama actually win.  I too have said he would be a one-term president because he would do some serious damage to this country.  I don’t really believe those guys voting for Obama truly understand who they are voting for…but…once/if he gets in, they will find themselves questioning one another and wondering why or how they could have voted for him.

Bobo, it seems everyone missed something.  When Obama spoke about trade with Canada, he mentioned labor and the environment.  Much of our oil from Canada comes from their tar sands and the greens have been trying to stop that.  So Obama is going to allow limited drilling, while reducing imports from our #1 supplier.Great site!!PS, Howard Stern has a video on reverse racism in the election worth checking out.

@Life of Illusion – thanks for the compliment.  Another reader tipped me off to that Howard Stone video also.  I plan on putting it up over here as well when I get an opportunity.

Personally, I don’t think Obama is going to allow any drilling.  I think that should he win, and the Dems get the supermajority in Congress – they are going to reverse their position and reinstitute the ban on offshore drilling – and Obama will sign it.
