Election Eve – or – More reasons why NOT to vote for That One!
Posted by: The BoBo // Category: A Nation at Risk, ACORN, African-Americans, America, Conservative, Democrats, Elections, Liberals, McCain, Obama, Politics, President, Republicans, Socialism, communism, government, marxismOkay – one last effort to educate the masses here – There was a helluva lot more dirt that came out this weekend regarding The Obamessiah – so – in case you didn’t hear any of it – I’m just going to direct you to those stories – and I got other stuff for those 8% who remain undecided!
First up – You know I don’t generally subscribe to conspiracy theories – however – there have been some real solid arguments regarding Obama’s citizenship and whether or not he is qualified to serve as President according to our constitution – Reference previous post here and here.
Phil Berg filed a lawsuit challenging Obama’s citizenship. It was tossed out 10/27/08 by Judge Surrick in PA saying Berg did not have standing and subsequently appealed to the Supreme Court – well – guess what – there has been a new lawsuit filed – and there is no way you can say these guys don’t have standing – A Vice Presidential Candidate and 24 Electoral College Electors. Read that here.
If that isn’t enough – Obama has promised to bankrupt the coal industry. Is he really trying to sabotage his chances in PA, VA, WV, and OH? Actually, this is a tape that the SF Chronicle has been holding on to since January. Kinda makes you wonder why this wasn’t released during the primaries! Watch and listen closely – even if you are not a union worker or have anything to do with the coal industry – the fact is that 49% of our energy in the U.S. comes from coal – he promises that under his plan – our electric bills will “skyrocket.”
h/t to Vulcan Hammer for alerting us to this over at Shaving Leviathan – Obama Contra Coal, Contra Industrial Power – probably one of the best commentaries with pretty little pictures and graphs that you will find out there regarding Obama’s disdain for both coal and nuclear power.
Next up – Our great friend to the south – Hugo Chavez – has come out and endorsed “the black man” in the white house. Chavez is the one who openly called Bush the Great Satan while speaking at the U.N. and then derided our country.
This made the rounds in Miami – but – for whatever reason never really circulated through the rest of the country. Apparently, Castro aided many of Ayers’ Weather Underground “friends” that were on the lam. In fact – it has been reported by UniVision that there is a very recent connection between Obama, Castro, and FARC (the pro-communist terrorists in Columbia).
And – finally – if you haven’t seen the video yet – there are people out there that really believe that Obama is going to pay for their gas and mortgages.
If you think my take has been partisan here – WHICH OF COURSE IT HAS BEEN – here is a very non-partisan voting guide for you to use and figure it out for yourself. 20 issues, side-by-side and the positions each candidate has – you decide which one you are closer to.
NOW – Get out there tomorrow and VOTE! If you’re pro-McCain – don’t let the early polls worry you – don’t let them discourage you from getting out there and casting your vote. Every vote counts this time around! Remember – in 2004 they called the election for Kerry in the early afternoon based on exit polls. The polls can be wrong and have been proven consistently to be wrong. The media machine will keep drilling it all day long that Obama is on his way to a blow-out. That is the furthest thing from the truth. This race is so close it could be a repeat of 2000 in which a difference of only 527 votes gave the presidency to Bush.
So – don’t listen to the pollsters – go with your own guts and VOTE!

As Obama derides the coal industry–which supplies about 50% of our energy–he also doesn’t think very highly of nuclear power; Better get ready for higher energy prices, folks.

I tend not to believe polls, matter of fact I tend to have more faith in conspiracy theories than polls. At least in some of those I can see some truth in it. Just the other day in Government class my teacher described to me a job she had in college, a polling job, in which she surveyed the surrounding areas. Turns out you have to interpret people’s thoughts, guess what they actually mean, which in the end can turn out to be wrong.
The polls have it close, and I have this feeling that John McCain will come out on top, or at least there will be a long drawn out battle in some state about some ballots that didn’t get counted.
And with this latest Obama video coming out, I can’t see why anyone would want to vote for him! Indeed, the best move in a time of economic crises is to force bankruptcy on an industry. Yea, just go ahead and end thousands of jobs, possibly millions, and it will effect our economy even worse that the troubles in which we have now. With this latest nonsense, added on to the fact that the Obama campaign can’t decided what Middle Class is, I can say those who are voting on him are voting out of ignorance, and if not so, they must be getting money someway out of this.

@VH – I’ve linked to you and to Shaving Leviathan – that is indeed a great post he has up there regarding the latest finding on Obama and the coal industry.
@Bradley – as I’ve said before – you’ve got a good head on your shoulders there. I don’t quite get why people are voting for him either. As a matter of fact – Mrs. BoBo had a discussion with the in-laws this morning – they’re pro-Obama which is so odd – considering they are very religious (Catholic) – anti-abortion, and anti-gay marriage. I don’t see how they can sale out their values.
The other thing that I would love to have seen is that Khalidi video. Right now Obama has 69% of the Jewish vote – I’m sure if they saw that video coupled with the fact that Jessie Jackson announced to the world an Obama presidency would no longer be friendly with Israel they would ALL shift to McCain.

Vulcan – Energy has been my biggest issue with Obama since his nomination. While I don’t think he is hell-bent on causing a complete energy meltdown in our nation, his positions weaken our ability to continue to expand our energy production in a reasonable manner. You are right, he is “for” nuclear power production, but only if it meets his higher standards of safety and waste management (so in other words, he wants to make it next to impossible to build a new plant and still be profitable). Now the news about him wanting to make it too expensive to build new coal plants (which coal is our national equivalent to Middle East oil). He has also joined up with the leftist position regarding off-shore and domestic oil production, meaning we will remain dependent upon foreight oil for the time being.
When it comes to alternative energy development, I have no problems with it. I have been calling for a “Manhattan Project” for hydrogen energy before Bush stepped into office 8 years ago. I was glad that he supported (and funded) a huge R&D program in his budget, but the funding has been trickling out of Congress, with the Dept of Energy making a half-hearted coordinated attempt to develop and bring to market the technology that will possibly bring about a new economic and technological boom for us. As it is, we are years behind Japan and Germany in this area. Wind and solar are nice green technologies, but they currently lack the cost effectiveness to make them viable solutions on a large scale. Wind is getting closer but in the coastal areas where we would truly benefit from steady year-round wind, the environmentalists and Obama are blocking us.
No, I don’t think Obama is intentionally driving us to an energy meltdown, but the side effects of his proposals will do just that.

Obama did not say that he will bankrupt the coal industry. To the contrary, he said, “this notion of no coal, I think, is an illusion.” He then explained that he believed in setting emission limits, and letting industry — including coal — figure out how to operate within those limits. And: “So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can, it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.”
Let me add, Obama had made similar statements in other venues. In a January debate, “We’re going to cap greenhouse gases. We’re going to say to every polluter that’s sending greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, ‘We’re going to charge you a dollar — we’re going to charge you money for every unit of greenhouse gas that you send out there.’ That will create a market. It will generate billions of dollars that we can invest in clean technology.”
But, hey, far be it from me to convince you that coal also is acid rain, global warming, black lung and cancer wrapped in an attractive domestic energy wrapper. But this is no surprise since most of the entire McCain-Palin campaign has been “bankrupt with the facts.” I thought the Rove-led Bush campaign was bad, but McCain’s has set a new low.

@Mark – first – thanks for stopping by and commenting – now – let’s get down to what he ACTUALLY said – far be it from me to convince you guys to stop parsing, picking, and choosing which words you want to hear! Here is the part you left off:
“Let me sort of describe my overall policy.
What I’ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there.”
This is his POLICY – he will indeed attempt to bankrupt the coal industry with this aggressive plan. Sorry you decided not to listen to that part. The coal industry represents 49% of the energy in this country. He would do away with it by imposing these stiff cap and trade penalties.
As for the global warming thing – I’m really tired of arguing that point right now. There is absolutely no proof that global warming is actually happening or that it is even man made. Any warming of the earth is cyclical. We are currently in a global cooling phase if you would actually listen to the REAL scientists instead of Al Gore. This whole global warming crap is just that – crap! It’s a hoax and you sheeple are buying in to it.
While I am all for any alternative energy sources that will reduce my electric bill – I’m not for imposing barriers to business unnecessarily. In fact, I have solar panels on my home now. But, it’s not because of “global warming” or being “green.” It’s because it saves me close to $100/month on my electric bill, plus I get a tax rebate of 30% of the purchase price from the government, plus I get a $450 rebate from my state, plus I get a 15% reduction on my property taxes.
Besides – the only so-called “greenhouse” gas they want to reduce is CO2 – which is a VITAL necessity for plant life on this planet. Without CO2 plants won’t grow – which reduce the O2. CO2 is not the problem here! It is a manufactured hoax in order to redistribute wealth from industrialized nations and pass it on to developing or non-industrialized nations via the U.N.
There were only 2700 signatories on the IPCC report most of whom are bureaucrats and not actual scientists. There are currently 32,000 actual scientists, including 9,000 Ph.D.’s who have signed on to a petition denouncing this whole global warming hoax. I would listen to those people before I would listen to Al Gore and the U.N.

BoBo, thanks for the welcome.
But listen, I don’t think you actually read what I posted: The point Obama is making is that we need to transition from coal-burning power plants built with old technology to plants built with advanced technologies — and that is exactly the action that will be incentivized under a cap-and-trade program. That’s all.

@Mark – I did read what you posted. I do get what he is saying. But – imposing an unfair tax based on junk science is not the way to incentivize any industry in to changing. Besides, we already have the technology for clean energy – but he opposes that as well – it’s called Nuclear – or as GWB puts it – Nookyuler.
He states we don’t have a safe way of storing the by-products – when in fact we do. He, as well as many Dems in Congress (especially Reid), have been on the opposite side of the Yucca Mountain project.

Mark – The problem with that notion is you are already charging existing coal plants a lot of money on necessary plant upgrades where, under current rules, it would be more cost effective to build a new clean coal plant. Under Obama’s proposal, it would no longer be cost effective for the company to do either – essentially castrating our major source of electricity in the nation. The alternative energy programs will not be able to carry 50% of our current electrical demand, let alone more into the future. Under Obama’s plan:
- Increase alternative energy to 25% of total power generation by 2025
- Have 1 Million plug-in hybrid electric cars on the road by 2015
Even he sees that alternative energy cannot replace the current power generation from coal, not even taking into account the increased demand from plug-in hybrids. So, if he makes it cost ineffective for coal, we could potentially lose the whole market before 2025. And if by some miracle he is able to pull off 25% of the current load, how are we going to make up the remaining 25%? You can’t expect the consumer to pay twice as much in electricity (which I’m sure would end up with more tax credits for “the poor”) just to achieve some political goal. We’ve already seen how doubling the prices of gas depressed our economy. Imagine with double the electricity prices would do.
The government (irregardless of what party is in power) needs to work with the industries, not against them. Instead of penalizing current forms of power, give them a positive incentive to develop the new technologies. If you want power generators using coal to decrease their pollution, subsidize 25% of the cost for a new plant in exchange for them designing it to burn both coal and biomass/wood/waste. The new plants would be built with stack scrubbers that would recycle unburnt material into a second-stage furnace. The heat from that furnace can be used for steam generation or preheating of the fuel entering the main chamber. The second stage furnace would have stack scrubbers that collect the remaining particulate and store it for reprocessing or storage. In this format, you now have paid the cost upfront for future power generation without increasing the costs on the consumer while sharing the government burden with the market.
See, you don’t have to tax/penalize our way into changing the economy. The government needs to think like a business. The market will always respond to a “good deal,” so structure government policies around what would be a good investment that has positive returns, such as the example above. Penalizing typically does more harm than good, and you don’t end up with the desired results.
