The election is over – now what? BoBo’s Election after-thoughts.
Posted by: The BoBo // Category: PoliticsYES! Finally – I can watch TV again without seeing all those damned political ads. I don’t have to worry about having a pile an inch high of political flyers in my mailbox every day. I will no longer have to turn my phone off because of the stupid political phone calls. <sigh of relief>
As regards to my thoughts regarding the election – I feel heavily betrayed by my country and my state. The 52% of Americans who voted for that socialist did so because they were uninformed by a media that failed to live up to the 1st Amendment and the charter we the people entrusted them with. The media was formed to be the watchdog on Government and to report the truth to the people. Instead – they are complicit in a mass fraud perpetrated on this great nation. Journalism – as our forefathers intended – is dead.
I don’t need to go into it any further how I feel Obama. We know he is a fraud and he is very dangerous for this country. I guess what I don’t understand is how the democrat lead Congress with a favorable rating of 9% was able to add more seats. Thank God they don’t have a filibuster-proof majority as I believe that is the only barrier at this point that will keep Obama and the far left-wing Democrats from getting every socialist law passed in this country.
I just want to assure my readers that I will remain steadfast in doing my job here to keep everyone informed regarding the misdeeds that will surely be coming out of Congress and that socialist that has been elected by a misinformed public. The media did a great job of covering up Obama’s history and was very effective in aiding the Obama campaign by painting the truth from the McCain camp as a smear campaign. Since when has the truth become an attack? Since when did the truth not matter in this country?
I fear we have just entered in to a VERY dangerous era for this country and this world. The only chance we have now is for the Republican party to go back to their conservative roots and do what is right for this country. The Republican members of congress will need to be forthright with the people of this country and keep us informed of the left-leaning Democrats and their attempts to ramrod their socialist agenda down our throats.
Hopefully, with a Democrat congress and a Democrat President – the people will now see who the real problem is in D.C. – it was not the policies of the Republicans that got us in this mess – it was the liberal social polices of the Dems. I will be here – unless Obama decides to stifle free speech on the Internet as he did in the media – but – I will endeavor to continue to speak out about those loony liberals and their socialist messiah.
Welcome to the U.S.S.A. – and many thanks to the 52% of morons out there that refused to listen. You reap what you sow – and you deserve everything that comes to you. Hopefully, you will wake up between now and 2010 and see just how wrong you were and just how uninformed you were because you CHOSE to keep your head buried in the sand. Well, maybe moron is too strong a word since it’s not entirely your fault – after all – you believed the lies from Obama – and you failed to do your own homework and listened to the biased media. But, being the conservative that I am and believing in personal responsibility – you failed yourselves as well by not being responsible voters and informing yourselves. You all are now accountable for your in-action.
Sure, this might be a historic moment in this country because a black man was elected – but – this was the WRONG black man. I would gladly have voted for Condi – maybe even Powell – but – not this socialist. Yes, America – Socialism is a bad word.

We will see how many promises Obama fails to meet in his first year. I bet that he won’t be leaving Iraq as quickly (or at all) as the anti-war/liberal crowd were fooled into believing.

@VH – I’m sure he is going to disappoint A LOT of people – not just the anti-war left. He moved to the center during his campaign -but – we all know he is just as far left as the Dems in Congress. He will help them push that agenda and it’s going to shock the hell out of this center-right country. But, by the time they push through legislation that doesn’t require spending – that doesn’t require debate – such as DL for illegals, reinstituting The Fairness Doctrine, and doing away with the secret ballot for unions – the damage will already have been done. Once you give a DL to the illegals – it will open them up for being able to vote in this country as well. He’s going to take this country down a path of no return.

My prediction, a bit after Obama has been in office, as an excuse for his present and future performance, he will blame Bush once again. He will say something along the lines of, “My God, we had no idea until we got here and saw all the information the extent of the damage that Bush has done to this country. It’s going to take a lot longer than expected and take more extreme measures to set this country right again.”

I understand your anger and disappointment, and share it. But I disagree that Obama will take the country down a path of no return. Odds are that he will do a great deal of damage, especially in his choice of Supreme Court and other Federal judges. But even the Soviet Union turned somewhat. Several South American countries moved toward greater freedom. Britain, bad as it is in many ways, moved from outright socialism in the 1950s to a much freer country today.
Never surrender. Never let the bastards make you think there is no hope and no way to come back. America has many hidden resources. With the decay of traditional media, and the rise of Internet voices, there is still a chance.
You have many friends, even those who — like me — are not conservatives.

Bob O–I expect that you will bring full watch-dog coverage to Inside Government. But in a toned-down objective non-partisan kind of way.
We have three posts on the site now. Take a look. I think we need to make the best of what we have. To stay engaged. We will know soon enough if Obama means to make good on his promise to be a uniter by his cabinet choices. Personally, I don’t want him to fail. We can’t afford a president that will fail right now with a deficit out of control, a deep recession, and being in the midst of two wars. I don’t want a terrorist attack on US soil again, but fear that Obama will be tested. But what we need to do is educate the American People. We need to be eyes and ears and solicit engagement and involvement and call for more email and phone campaigns on Congress with every action they take. If the american people think electing Obama was their goal, they are sorely mistaken. Now they have to stay engaged. if they don’t, we can expect tragedy like never before. We have the responsibility to keep Americans engaged.
Obama is beginning to select his cabinet. Inside Government will be there to educate the American people on this process and what Obama’s choices mean for how his government will operate.
Cheers!

@John – I hadn’t considered that thought – but – I can easily see that happening.
@Jeff – you’re probably right – maybe not necessarily down a path of no return – but definitely down a path that will be really hard to recover from given what he and the far left Dems could do now that they have all the power. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I’ll never surrender! Viva La Revolucion’
@Matt – not a problem, dude! LOL. I kinda figured it would be that way over there. Believe it or not, I do have the ability to be non-partisan and report factually. I developed this blog so that I could vent my personal opinions. And, again – I want to say thanks for inviting me to participate.
The problem is that many of those who voted for Obama indeed were not engaged – for – if they really were – they would not have voted for him. There was a large majority of young’ns out there this time – they were bandwagon voters and clearly have no clue as to what they were doing. That generation probably has no idea what their vote meant for their own children when they do begin procreating. (shudder)

Politicians who make promise after promise after promise, usually go to Washington and fail miserably. Clinton is the last example of that. Even though he was a two-term President, there is no legacy. He benefitted from the dot com economy, that inflated his numbers and made Bush’s numbers look average, even though Bush’s economy was strong until Pelosi and company took over.
The promises are part of the danger that is Obama. How on earth the media held promises like bankrupting the coal industry from voters is beyond me. His environmental policies alone will threaten the livelyhood of almost every American family, and it will force his economy into depths not seen since Jimmy Carter (who really owns the worst economy since the Great Depression–I am tired of hearing a different claim to the owner of that distinction).

I think you’re worrying about nothing.
Obama is just another politician – POWER and EGO are what concern him, like all politicians. He’s another Tony Blair – all smoke and mirrors. But the economic, military and political establishment will have him house-trained in no time.
So RELAX . And even dare to think that even Obama’s better than a cretin like Palin.

Obama is a dangerous person. He came almost literally out of nowhere and in five years has become president of the U.S. Things that have been set in place by Mr. Bush due to the horrors of terrorists are now going to backfire because this president is going to use those things to turn them on the American public. That’s a prediction.
Just a thought here. I heard about the possibility of riots in large cities if Obama did not win. Some riots did happen anyway. Isn’t it strange that the media didn’t really report that. I can actually see riots happening anyway if it doesn’t go the way Obama promised. This man is dangerous. I believe firmly that the nightmare has only just begun. Tighten your seat belts, we are in for a rocky and very dangerous, probably freedom grabbing ride. Hey, I’m no expert, just a country gal who reads and watches what is being said plus a little bit of advice from the Bible. Did that just change everyone’s mind about me? *grin*
Just my two cents worth.

Obama supporters got their man. A few questions:
What now is the role of the U.S. military in the world?
How, specifically, will the Obama administration help the economy?
Will Obama, unlike Bill Clinton, follow through with his tax cut to the middle class?
Will Obama, Pelosi and Reid truly govern from the center?
George Miller, who heads the House committee that deals with 401(k)s, wants to eliminate this tax subsidy. He and others want to put this all under Social Security, and let the government take control of it. Will this be attractive to the Obama administration? (The mainstream media did not talk about this issue during the campaign.)
After the announcement that Obama had won the election, why were some of his supporters outside the White House carrying the Soviet flag?
Finally, during the last couple of years, Obama has been pouring honey in so many people’s ears. During his acceptance speech at Grant Park in Chicago, why did he begin to lower the expectations of his administration?
Obama – “The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term.”
And this also from Obama’s Grant Park speech:
Obama – “There will be setbacks and false starts… We know the government can’t solve every problem… Above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation.”
Obama campaigned on Hope and Change. Reality is now setting in.
Thank you in advance, for truthfully answering these questions.

@Clay – something else to consider as well regarding the so-called Clinton legacy – while they like to say he left the office with a surplus – it was in fact a deficit. It was a surplus on paper only since he raided the Social Security funds – which he never put on the books as a loss. It was up to the Bush administration to put the money back in.
@Cal – thanks for stoppin in. Yes, it may be all power and ego – but – he has a very far-left leaning congress who will push a very socialist agenda. We’ll see just how committed he is to the middle-class. Will he bend to the will of Congress or to the people?
@Jaz – thanks – good synopsis – keep your 2 cents – you’re gonna need it with Obama in the house.
@Paul – those are all great questions – the answers remain to be seen. He is dangerous for this country. He’s already back-peddling on his promises. I heard today that he is already saying that he may not rescind the Bush tax cuts or start raising taxes on the “Rich” because it would hurt the economy. Well, duh! We know that – but – that is not what he campaigned on.

Sore loosers…
You Yanks are so funny being afraid that Obama may be a “socialist” ! Seen from the other side of the pond, where we have so many “socialists” governments. Remember, Gordon Brown is “labour”, Spain has a Socialist goverment, France was led 14 years and more by socialists, even the German!
Yeah I know, us European are so ridiculous with our health system that garantee treatment to everybody, our benefit that ensure we still have a roof and can send our kids to school even if we loose our jobs, our ridiculous education system free for all, our pension scheme and so many of these “social” advantages…
I often dream of living the wonderfull life offered in America, with so much freedom that you don’t need all of that!

@Roger – having grown up and lived under that type of socialist system – I don’t expect you to understand. We Americans do not like be slaves to anyone. Under a socialist system – you are a slave to the government. Your so-called health system is based on rationing of care. Your health system is run by bureaucrats who determine who may and who may not receive access to health care. Your health care system tells people how they can live, what they can do, and what they cannot do if they want to be considered for access to health care.
You know as well as I do, considering I’m studying public health, that your system does not guarantee healthcare to everyone.
I’m sorry – but – the majority of Americans enjoy their freedom and the autonomy from government control. What Obama is bringing to our government is counter to our constitution. Our constitution says government is to be limited and that we the people decide what is best for us. Government is supposed to stay out of our lives and out of our business. It is not the government’s responsibility to take care of the people. We the people are given the responsibility to take care of ourselves. Those of us who are libertarian and conservative are strong believers of our constitution and oppose any attempts by the government to dictate how we can live.
Our forefathers left England to escape that kind of government control and crafted our founding documents with that in mind.

Roger is the first European I have ever heard praise their health care system. I had a roommate in college from Europe, I know a few people from Canada, and I work with someone who use to live in England. They all say yes it is cheaper but there is by no means universal care because sometimes the government just says “hell no” or they have to wait in line so damn long for a simple procedure. The government also decides at times that if the procedure only has a small chance of working they just won’t waste the time.
The guy at work was friends with a doctor there and said the doctors love it because they can just refuse service on certain people like smokers who want a lung transplant or something. He also told me a story about a lady who gave birth and the doctors thought the baby was dead. It was actually alive and then died due to not getting care after birth. The lady sued, and since you are pretty much eventually just sueing the government you hardly get anything. She only got $10,000 for the death of her child despite the government admitting the doctors screwed up. Sounds like a great system to me.
Nevermind, let us not forget that half the people who don’t have health coverage in this country can afford it but choose not to get it. While our system isn’t perfect by any means foreign agencies constantly rank our healthcare system as one if not the best in the world.
