A sign of things to come?
Posted by: The BoBo // Category: A Nation at Risk, America, Conservative, Democrats, Idiots, Liberals, Obama, Politics, President, Socialism, governmentOkay – so I watched the inauguration today. I really didn’t have any interest in watching the overblown and overpriced festivities – but – what the heck – I got a free lunch out of the deal! While the festivities still continue today – I am most certainly glad this is over. I’m hoping this Obamamania shit will start to cool down soon. I wonder just how many idiots out there are buying all this so-called memorabilia? Have you seen it? A one dollar bill with a gold-leaf image of Obama painted on it – for $19.95. A one dollar coin with Obama’s image silk-screened on it for $19.95. Come on people – you’re spending $20.00 for $1.00!!!! As a serious pneumismatist – I can tell you that those coins and bills will NEVER be worth the price you’re paying for them. As a matter of fact, by painting on those coins and bills they are now forever “damaged” in the pneumismatist world. They have no re-sell value. Anyway, enough of that.
I think what got me the most during the inauguration was that once again he proved that he is a bumbler when it comes to speaking without a teleprompter – even when he was fed the words – he stumbled on the oath of office. Not only did he stumble, so did his vice president.
In addition to his stumbling – the stock markets today fell 4% – below the 8,000 mark since November. It is anticipated that it is going to continue to fall throughout the rest of the week. If Obama is supposed to be so good for the economy and for business – then can someone please tell me why there is no confidence in the market?
I see both of these as omens of what is to come for this country. Obama is trying to triangulate and move to the middle and in doing so – he’s already pissed off his far-left-loony followers. But, his socialist tendencies to spread the wealth and his tax and spend policy is already affecting confidence in the business sector and he just started his job today.
Considering this is actually Clinton’s third term – well – all of the Clinton administration’s third term and the damage they caused this country – we will be in a full blown depression before Obama can finish out his first term. If there is anything to learn from the Bush administration – it is you can’t spend your way out of a problem. Bush started this bullshit wheel rolling with the damned bailouts – and now Obama will just continue pushing that wheel down the hill and taking this country down with him.
While I am not looking forward to the socialist Obama agenda – I am most certainly looking forward to breaking down every lame brained scheme he comes up with. For, as I see it, he will be his own undoing come 2012. Obama will be a one-term President with his socialist tendencies and with the worst Congress in history being led by the two worst house and senate leaders in history.
Bring it on, bub!

Way back I said he’d have a Clinton administration and I thought the dems at the table were going to lynch me. Well, it’s another Clinton administration. I hope you are right about a one-term president. I just think he’s an empty suit with a good speech writer.
Have a terrific day.

Heh, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, appointed by Bush (oops, Obama voted against him) screwed up the oath; Obama patiently waited for the CJ to recover, then went on; this showed some class.
Do you think us Libtards did not suffer the same crap when the Bush-mania hit in 2001 – same crap, different year, different party affiliation.
Woohoo! If it wasn’t Clinton’s fault, it must be Obama’s fault – there is no way the last 8 years of conservatives in power had anything to do with the economy. Why is it that conservatives who go on and on about personal responsibility always blame everyone but themselves for the consequences of their actions?
The Clinton years were so hard on America what with the economic growth, budget surpluses and reduction of deficit; lawdy, lawdy me – life was so hard under the Clintons (don’t bring up the sex thing – at least he stayed out bathroom stalls and away from underage pages – and did not divorce his wife while she was just out of cancer surgery).
I know everyone likes to throw around the ‘socialist’ label but that is just because the conservatives have worn out the word Liberal (http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-socialism.htm) to the point that liberals reclaiming their name.

@ Grim
They both screwed up, but first Obama started talking during the first line way too early, and then even after “waiting for the CJ to recover” (actually he just froze up) he repeated the screwed up line by putting “faithfully” at the end. Really though I don’t think any of that matters.
Bush mania was nothing like Obama mania now. Just shows your level of education and lack of lucidity when you say “last 8 years of conservatives in power” when you libs have controlled Congress for the last two and conservatives have had their voices routinely ignored by Repubs and Dems alike. Don’t give me that crap about blaming everyone else when somehow in your book Bush has caused everything from the Housing Crash to that shit stain in your pants.
Nothing like justify one infidelity with another. Funny how you left out your Detroit Sex Texting Mayor, Orgy With My Driver McGreevy, I Sell Ass From My Apartment Barney Frank, Screwing My Staff Mahoney, Cheating On My Wife With Cancer I Have A Love Child Edwards, and Mister I Have Illegitimate Children All Over The Damn Place Jesse Jackson.

I’m torn between my desire for the country to succeed and my faith that this is absolutely not the right way to do it.
If things do happen to get better, it will come a a severe price. I would rather be poor than be subject to a larger government with unlimited power.

Not to burst your bubble or anything as I am well aware that you suffer from an extreme case of Obama Derangement Syndrome, but President Obama did not mess up during the oath yesterday. Justice Roberts did. President Obama knew the oath and even paused to give Roberts an opportunity to correct himself. And, in case you missed it, the Chief Justice later apologized to the President for his mistake.
I am not faulting Justice Roberts in any way. This was his first inauguration. He was understandably flustered and nervous. I am faulting the extreme rightists, like you, who in your blind hatred see what happened as an excuse to fault our new president. You really need to get control. Really, you do.

1. – Folks immediately defended Obama on the blunder. I didn’t see it, so I have no idea. BUT they feverently defended him – again. The only reason I bring this up, is there are folks saying Obama blundered – folks saying Roberts blundered. Just another thing that splits hairs and the nation again, and again and again. The defensiveness never seems to die does it.
2 – There is an interesting blog I thought I’d tell you about. http://injuriesandusurpations.com I enjoyed the writings and thought you might Bobo.
3 – How much was Bush’s Innag? $40M is that right? Do folks really believe that in these times the $175M or whatever was okay?
4 – I had a dream. I swear. I had a dream last night – I went camping with the Obama’s and they were the nicest down the earth folks ever! LOL I had been so derned negative on them… I thought the dream was kinda neat. I BBQd with Obama! LOL Good times good times.
Yup – we’ve officially lost our minds.

You know, anyone can make a mistake on an oath given the pressure-cooker situation. I thought it was handled with class, and Obama’s speech was incredible. He set exactly the right tone and said all the right words. But guess what? We all know he’s a great speech maker. Talk is cheap. It’s time to get to work now and his success will be measured by the results he achieves.
One important note, last night, as it was reported that the Dow and every index lost big time, the commentators were using the D-word. That’s right, depression. The difference between recession and depression is that recessions respond to an influx of cash into the economy. Depressions dont. After all the hundreds of billions of dollars that have been injected into the economy, and to see the forecast for continuing stock market declines for the rest of the week the moment Obama takes the oath of office reflects quite a lot of uncertainty into the markets when there should be confidence at this point.
I think Obama’s speech, while it set exactly the right tone, was sober enough to kill any hope of optimism on WallStreet. The message is loud and clear. We face tough times and it’s going to take a lot of work and time before it gets better. Expecting a different result on Wall Street and the markets in hindsight would be a little naive.
The truth is, we are in a deep, deep, recession, if not a depression. And it’s going to take a lot more than cash to extricate us from this mess.

Everything I have read and seen shows Obama to be nothing more than a black version of Jimmy Carter and just as whiny, if not more so. Carter was and is a pathetic disgrace to this nation and Obama seems to be following right behind him.

One of our problems is that most Americans can’t tell you how many Senators and Congress-critters they have representing them, nor can they tell you their names. But since every idiot out there knows who the President is, he gets the blame (or the credit, as the case may be).
One thing I’d be willing to put money on, I’ll bet GWB had his best night’s sleep in eight years last night.

@Comedy – I see we are in agreement.
@Grim – if you had actually paid attention to what I wrote – you would see that I did indeed put part of the blame on Bush. Not for the entire 8 years – since as John pointed out – Repubs have only been in control for 6 of the 8 and the last two years (which coincidentally is when our economy started going down hill) has been under the watch of the Dems. I blame Bush for turning his back on conservative principals by allowing and signing off on the socialist policy called bailouts and government intervention.
And…regarding the Clinton years – nice revisionist spin there. We did not have economic prosperity and the budget was not balanced at all. In case you forgot – it was the Clinton administration that raided the social security trust and placed IOU’s in it. All he did was play a shell game – he took money that should have been in SS and moved it around to make it look like there was a surplus. In case you aren’t aware – the numbers that get reported as the so-called federal budget – does not include the legacy entitlement programs like medicare, medicaid, and social security. By moving the money out of there and in to budget items – he gave you boneheads the false impression of surplus.
Regarding the so-called Bush mania – WTF are you smoking? There was no Bush lovefest – it was all about you loonies on the left in the media constantly complaining saying he stole the election. What we have now is a full-blown media handjob going on right now as far as Obama is concerned. You can’t turn on any freakin channel anywhere these days without seeing something about Obama – and the dick hasn’t even done anything yet. When was the last time you EVER heard of anyone selling memorabilia before a Presidency has even started? Memorabilia is supposed to be about remembering the past. He hasn’t had a past yet.
@Len – nice to see ya again. I’m in your neck of the woods right now! Sorry – I don’t have Obama Derangement Syndrome – nice play on BDS though! What I have is a healthy love and respect for this country and conservative values. I see a socialist taking an oath and putting affirmed and admitted socialists in his cabinet to push a socialist agenda on a democratic republic. I’m not going to sit back and let it happen. This country is too great to allow anyone to bring this country down such a path. I don’t know when the last time was you visited and commented – but – I have been all over Bush and those turncoat republicans since September when bailouts and other socialist programs were being proposed. I don’t care if you’re a republican or democrat – socialism and socialist programs are what they are and they don’t belong in this country. As far as I’m concerned, we should get rid of ALL entitlement and other social programs. That is not what this country was founded on and none of these entitlement programs are authorized by our constitution.
As for the oath – Obama stumbled first and threw it all off after that. But – nice that you keep defending your Messiah that way. Will you continue to support him when he starts triangulating to the right to try to get Republicans on his side? After all, he has almost the entire Clinton cabinet advising him. He’s going to back down on almost all of his campaign promises because it just is not possible in a center-right country where everyone is now becoming more engaged in politics and paying attention. The far-left agenda that he proposed is not going to fly in today’s America.
@Monica – I visit Josie’s blog frequently. You’ll note she drops in here occasionally. She’s Libertarian and always has some great posts that I can get behind.
@Mar Matthias – I hadn’t noticed that – but – I suspect you are correct. We’ll see as time goes on. I’m just wondering how long he will continue to blame “the previous administration” instead of taking ownership of it and take the correct actions.
@Larry – that’s just the way things have always been. The President as the leader always has to take responsibility for the actions of Congress and the Supreme court even though they are three completely separate entities of our government. Sometimes its rightfully deserved as the executive branch is supposed to be a check on the other two. Bush did not do his job of checking Congress these past two years. But, I think you’re right – he probably slept very well.

Bobo – “I think what got me the most during the inauguration was that once again he proved that he is a bumbler when it comes to speaking without a teleprompter – even when he was fed the words – he stumbled on the oath of office. Not only did he stumble, so did his vice president.” – this is what I was responding to. (Sorry, I have forgotten most of what I learned about ‘mark-up’ what with all the buttons to do it for me, sigh). I admit to being all hopey if you admit you suffer from Obama Hatred Syndrom (or whatever you want to call it).
Jeez, it was Johnson that first raided the SS to disguise the deficit (by throwing it into the general fund) – every president since followed suit . The CBO/OMB states that there was a budget surplus (in billions) of 69 in 1998, 126 in 1999, 236 in 2000, and 128 in 2001 – if you have complaints about how the budget is counted, talk to them.
Why is there no confidence in the market? Hmmm, could it be that the market got suckered by Madoff for billions and they are still finding twits who gave him their funds (our money)? Could it be that the banks have sucked up $300 billion and still refuse to trust each other, want billions more, and would rather see houses go into default than take a loss on their inflated loans? I know that it is common practice for the conservatives to blame every dip in the market on Obama – this started as soon as it looked like he was going to be the new POTUS.
Of course we have different views on ‘presidential love-fests’ – I am a Liberal and you are a Conservative. That is probably an argument neither of us will win/concede.
[bold]When was the last time you EVER heard of anyone selling memorabilia before a Presidency has even started? Memorabilia is supposed to be about remembering the past. He hasn’t had a past yet.[/bold] Maybe every single event that draws people together – The attendance in DC was expected to exceed 1 million – there is an entire sub-economy based on being where the crowds are, selling what the crowds want – what you are complaining about is pure free-market; no tax, minimum overhead, maximum competition. Rather than worry about what was for sale, what actually sold? I have friends whose entire income is based on how well they can anticipate what the crowds will want, having it in time to sell it – they mostly work street fairs, country fairs and such – as far as the inauguration was concerned, all they needed to know is that a million+ people would be in a confined space/time locus. I wonder how much money flooded into that economy!
There were only 10 months under Bush in which the economy added as many jobs as it did in an average month under Clinton. The Repubs had control of 6 of the last 8 years and the only vetoes that Bush used were during the 2 years that Dems had a ‘bare’ majority. For 6 years the Repubs had both houses and the presidency and, using CBO/OMB #s budget (in billions of dollars) went from +128 in 2001 to -158 in 02 to -378 in 03 to 413 in 04 and so on. I understand you have a complaint about how the numbers are calculated but we work with what we have. Even if I give you a terrible budget, you have to give me way more jobs and jobs are what people use to decide if they are better off.
One thing I’d be willing to put money on, I’ll bet GWB had his best night’s sleep in eight years last night. The last number I saw was Bush spent 879 days on his ranch during his 8 years – though only 450 of them are officially called ‘vacation’ (he managed to beat Reagon’s 413 days by a bit. One need not go into what was happening to the country and to the world while he was vacationing.

@John – much to lazy to read your mind but – this president was so disconnected from his job, I have no problem picturing him clearing brush and lounging around on his ranch with nary a thought about what was going on in the world. It showed in so many of the little things he did not do. You can call it retarded all you want but why not come up with something to ssuggest he was paying attention. As a side-note,
Bush’s ‘ranch’ is ‘all hat, no cattle’ — there is no livestock on the ranch, not even a horse. But that is neither here nor there.

I noticed the flub too. I thought it was pretty funny.
But what was even more interesting was that later he was given ANOTHER “secret” (and by secret I only mean that they kept out most of the media until afterward) swearing in. Pretty funny but not that big a deal in my book.
The MOST obnoxious thing today was watching Obama NOT EVEN KNOWING what the hell he was signing in his executive orders. He had to ASK his f’in chief of staff!!!! WTH!!! If Bush had done this even once we would have never heard the end of it.
And I did NOT vote for Bush in 01 and I was pissed when he was elected (I even said “selected” way back when) and I do not recall any sort of love fest. It was all about how he stole the election and how “we” were cheated.
I swear lefties have double vision when it comes to historical revisions. Sheesh.

@Monica – have you considered the possibility that folks immediately defended Obama on the blunder because he was immediately attacked over the blunder (consider that Faux sNews’ Chris Wallace immediately went on the air saying that Obama might not be president because the oath was not take properly). You must understand this – some twit went on a major news network and questioned the legitimacy of the president of the United States. Sorry if this bothers you.

Could you restate your comment so that I can figure out your point and, maybe, start a discussion with you? Specifically, what has Obama said or done that leads you to use the word ‘whiney’? What is a ‘black version of Jimmy Carter’? How is it that Carter is ‘a pathetic disgrace to this nation’? What leads you to believe that Obama is following right behind him?
