Hey all – taking a quick break from politics today – everything going on around us is driving me crazy.  There seems to be a huge anti-capitalism sentiment floating out of this administration – which leads me to this – capitalism = freedom – and what is one of the best ways to be free?  Selling your own stuff.  One of the ways I do this is through Cafepress.

Cafepress works two ways – if you’re a blogger like myself and want to market and promote your blog – you can use Cafepress to sell custom t-shirts with your logos on it.  Or… even if you are not a blogger – you can have Cafepress customize t shirts for you as well.  Looking for a family t-shirt for that next big vacation?  Cafepress can do custom t-shirts for that too!

There are a variety of items that you can purchase from Cafepress.  Other than just Cafe Press customized t shirts you can search for various items from various sellers as well – not just from bloggers like myself.  If you are a blogger, setting up an online store through Cafepress is very simple – and it shows you how to set it up for Cafepress customized t shirts, key chains, coffee mugs, etc.  If you are just in the market for cool stuff other than those custom t-shirts – I recommend you stopping in there first and bookmarking Cafepress for all your future needs.

For all you Twilight fans out there – which my wife is one of them – Cafepress has some cool Eclipse apparel on sale now.  My wife has already mandated that I set aside June 30th – we’re definitely going! LOL.  For those of you that don’t know what I’m talking about – check out Stephanie Meyer’s site for the story behind Twilight. Stephanie Meyer is the author. My wife has read all the books and has dragged me to the first two movies.  The background for this series is actually quite amazing.  I’m not quite hooked yet – but – if the next two movies are anything like the first two – I can see myself being a Twilight fan.

Check ‘em out – you won’t regret it.

I have come to the conclusion that P-BO is most definitely delusional and in complete denial with regards to the Massachusetts election and the will of the American people.  In his speech in Elryia, OH yesterday he stated the following:

“I’ll take my lumps, too. I’ll never stop fighting to bring jobs back to Elyria. I’ll never stop fighting for an economy where hard work is rewarded, where responsibility is honored, where accountability is upheld, where we’re creating the jobs of tomorrow.”

First – he doesn’t care about bringing back jobs to the economy – unless they are “green jobs.” He doesn’t care about an American meritocracy where success is rewarded and responsibility is honored – just look at is Cap-and-Trade, Health care reform, and Stimulus bills.  Every one of them punish success by taking the hard earned dollars from those who are responsible and work hard and give it to those who are irresponsible.  Look at his latest overhaul of the mortgage finance industry where he is allowing those who should never have been in a home (they got in without an ID, without proof of income, and without a down payment) and allows them to restructure their loans so they can stay in those homes – and – giving them subsidies.  In the very same speech he alluded to the greatest sweeping changes to the banking system since the 1930′s very simplistically:

“And I can promise you, there will be more fights in the days ahead. We’re having one of them right now, because I want to charge Wall Street a modest fee to repay taxpayers in full for saving their skin in a time of need. You can rest assured, we’re going to get that money — your money — back, each and every dime.”

If it were that simple – the stock market would not have lost 6% over the past week – actually over just 3 days since he first announced and outlined his plans.  These sweeping changes to the banking system, if Congress is stupid enough to pass them, would take more money out of the pockets of every day citizens and would make it harder to obtain loans from the banks.  His sweeping changes would in effect shut down the banking system as we know it.  The problem with his plan is that he is using the banks to make up for the failures of those other institutions (GMAC, GM, Chrysler) who received TARP money but have no way of paying it back.  He is once again punishing success.  He is punishing those banks who paid back their TARP money and redistributing it to those union-backed businesses that can’t pay it back – sound familiar?

Is it any wonder that 77% of investors see P-BO as anti-business? Before you on the left start calling “investors” those evil rich people who just don’t want to “share their piece of the pie,” (as Michelle puts it) – remember – if you have a retirement program – YOU are an investor.  Those investors they are talking about are those money market and mutual fund managers and financial corporations that are managing your 401k and other retirement accounts on your behalf.  Those “investors” are the same individuals that invest in your companies to bring capital to your organizations to stay in business.  Those “investors” represent millions of people who purchase products made or produced or serviced by your organizations that help keep your company in business that keeps you employed.

P-BO and the progressives have created class warfare in this country pitting the rich against the poor and middle class.  If it weren’t for the rich – we wouldn’t have jobs in this country.  I have never gotten a job from a poor person.  Many of the rich in our country are self-made and got there through their own hard work, innovation, and personal sacrifice.  I would like to be rich some day – but – under P-BO’s class warfare system – I will be penalized should I ever achieve success.

I am a middle-aged white man and I earn an above average income.  But, it was just 20 years ago when I was unemployed for 6 months trying to hold on to my house and take care of a wife and two little children.  I was making $450/wk before I was unemployed.  By the time I found a job, I could only get one making $7.50/hr.  That wasn’t enough to take care of my family.  I worked three jobs for two years and went back to college at the same time and finally earned my BA degree in Business Management.  I am now working on my Ph.D.  I have busted my ass to get where I am now and I still have the potential to continue to advance and make even more money.  Under P-BO’s system he wants to take my hard earned money and give it to those with no ambition who are satisfied being part of “the system.”  I willingly give to my church and to charities.  But, if P-BO has his way – I won’t have that discretionary money to give to charities – and – he will forcefully, through taxes and so-called “fees” to “rich corporations”, take that from me to give to the poor.

I work not to feed the poor or save the homeless.  I work to feed my own family, keep a roof over their heads, and to provide an education for my children to ensure their future success.  I work to make sure then when  I am no longer able to work I will be self-sufficient and have enough to be able to continue to feed myself and keep a roof over my head.  I work to ensure that when I pass, my children will have enough money to help them move forward.  I work to be able to have extra discretionary money to spend on vacations, family fun time, and furnish my home with nice things.  I don’t work to give my money to charities or to the government.  But, I willingly give my money to help those less fortunate because I remember what it was like to be one those less fortunate.  I give my money willingly to those charities that I know will help those less fortunate transition in to successful individuals.  I don’t give my money to charities that will just give a hand out to people who don’t appreciate it and have no ambition to move up out of poverty.  I don’t want the government forcing me to give to their charity of choice.  Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP, Welfare, Unemployment, methadone clinics, free-needle programs, free-condom programs, and other programs of those sort are all unconstitutional taxpayer subsidized charities.  These government formed programs should be paid by citizens who willingly want to give their money to them – not forced through increased taxes.  It is because of programs like these that our government is on the verge of bankruptcy.

P-BO is delusional and completely out of touch.  He doesn’t care about rewarding success, self responsibility and accountability.  All he cares about is fundamentally transforming this great country from a society built on those principles to one where he turns all the people in to slaves of the government through those aforementioned programs.  Don’t buy in those lies – he’s back in campaign mode saying what he thinks the people want to hear all the while knowing that he will continue to push is socialist agenda through.

I’m sure by now you all know that I am ALL for free-market capitalism and earning money – and – when I find something – I love to share.  I’ve been on twitter for only about three months now but I have just under 300 followers.  I’m working on it – I know – by comparison to many of you – I’m still a newbie.  But the great thing is – I just learned I can make money from my tweets.

Follow this link and you can too.

Pretty cool huh?  Man, gotta love this blogging stuff.  When I started this almost two years ago – I got in to it strictly to blog.  I had no idea I could make money doing this – what a great benefit.  I get to blog about stuff I want to talk about and I get to make money doing it!  I’ll never go full-time blogger – but – hey – my wife sure likes it now that I bought her stuff from my regular income! LOL.

Before I get in to it – if anyone is interested – The BoBo Carnival of Politics will be featured on the front page at Blog Carnival on Tuesday, April 21, 2009.  Make sure you get your articles submitted for the April 19th edition by this Saturday evening 10:00pm EST.  Click that link up there to go to the submission page.

Now – on to the good stuff.  So – a couple days ago – I put up this – Obama finally got something right which was a response to Obama finally growing a pair and authorizing force against those somali pirates terrorists that hijacked an American ship and kidnapped its Captain.  In that post – I also pointed out despite this one moment of strength – all of his previous actions in the face of other threats from around the world – he has backed down and shown weakness.  Well – one blogger decided to put together an entire post to tell me just how wrong I am!  Bwahahaha!  You can read his full post here.  So – let’s get down to this response:

As to why Obama did not choose to blow North Korea’s lauchpad up; Our President, unlike his predecessor, has shown great restraint, choosing to act in concert with our allies, and other countries, in condemning Kim and his hostile actions. To escalate any conflict in our present state is pure foolishness. Even the clowns on the right know this kind of talk is absurd, and have silenced those within their own party with such radical agressiveness. Bobo, you have been “left out” on your own on this one.

Um – really?  Could you please cite your sources regarding “have silenced those within their own party…”?  All I have heard coming from D.C. and the rest of us on the right is that he should have reacted.  You can see those reactions here, here, here, and here – just to point out a few.  When you are talking about allies – do you mean the U.N.?  The U.N. is absolutely useless.  Are you talking about allies like China and Russia?  That’s laughable.  In case you weren’t aware of it – there were 17 Iranian officials on hand there to witness the launch.  Hmmm…do you think that perhaps Iran has an ulterior motive as well?  Since when should America EVER have to rely on our allies to take care of the security of this country?  You are very naive to think that the likes of the U.N., Russia, China, France, or Germany will ever support us.  They have defied the U.S. in absolutely every military maneuver or show of force over the last 50 years.  They are not about to support us with NK sending nuclear missiles in to Japan, South Korea, and Alaska.  Yes – that missile can reach Alaska.  Obama was not showing restraint – he was showing that he has no balls and won’t do what is necessary to protect this country.  As for being “left out” on my own on this one – the last link up there is to the Rasmussen report that says 57% of this country – including 53% of the Democrats polled believe we should have shot down that missile.  Looks like I’m in the majority on this one again.

As to Iran’s nuclear production plant and why Obama didn’t bomb Natanz; Obama has chosen to the way of the U.N, much like Bush did, to enforce sanctions, while still attempting to reach out in a peaceful way. It seems Obama has sought the way of multilateral sanctions, and becoming part of a team for the US, instead of being the team and making all the decisions for that team. For too long now, The United States has been the aggressor in conflicts the world over, causing anti American sentiment to brew to new proportions. We voted for change and this is what we expected. The majority of Americans do not seek military solutions to diplomatic problems. It hasn’t worked in the past, and it is going to work now. Israel, who has way more to lose by Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, has also shown great restraint, so far. If any country should be concerned, it should be them. I am sure if the diplomatic process breaks down and peace is no longer a viable option, a military response will be carried out by Israel, rather than the U.S. The American people found out when Bush was president, to be cautious when a commander in chief claims someone has WMD. We do not need another Iraq. Bobo, you are “left out” again with your way out reasoning.

Man – I really can’t believe you are that naive and don’t understand our enemy – well – neither does Obama for that matter.  Do you not understand that the leaders of Iran want to annihilate both Israel and the U.S. and will stop at nothing to do it?  They are extreme religious zealots that want to “hasten the return of the 12th Imam.”  In order to do this – they have to either convert all non-believers of Islam or destroy them.  Israel to them is “the little Satan” and the U.S. is “the big satan.”  In this case – the sword is mightier than the pen.  All they know is the sword and we should strike back with bigger swords.  Bush was wrong to defer to the Useless Nitwits as well.  Where have those “sanctions” gotten us?  They have already opened their first nuke plant and they are committed to building a nuclear bomb now.  There is no diplomatic process with Iran.  Have you not heard of tafiq?  It is written in the Koran that it is okay to lie to an infidel in order to destroy them.  That is just what Iran is doing.  They will pretend to come to the table – but – they will never stop their nuclear program.  This administration does not understand that and Obama is an idiot for even believing we can ever “talk” Iran out of it.  The experts are saying Iran will have a nuke within 6 – 9 months.  If Obama had any balls at all – we would have taken out the nuke site already rather than force Israel to do it.  A nuclear Iran is a danger for the entire world – not just Israel and the U.S.  Is it necessary for me to repeat again that there were 17 Iranian officials at the North Korean launch?  Why do you think that was?

The missile defense shield you speak of on Russian borders has always been nothing more than a diplomatic tool the US has used to get Russia to bend in to some other foreign policy concerns. Now it seems Russia is willing to come to the table for talks on Nuclear weapons, and re-establishing a better friendship. To build a senseless missile shield is only to provoke hostilities. After all, if Russia wanted to dominate their neighbors, they could, as in times past, overrun their opponents borders with men, not missiles. The U.S. military already has the capability to shoot down long range missiles the world over. What’s the point in building a shield, except to make more enemies?

What?  Nothing more than a diplomatic tool?  Man – where do you get your news from?  This missile defense shield is to protect Europe.  In case you don’t know – the Iranian missiles are capable of reaching Europe – and that is the purpose of it.  It would be based in Poland – which is as far east as necessary in order to knock down any Iranian missiles sent that way.  Russia has been providing both financial and material support to the Iranians and have been assisting them in building their nuke plants and centrifuges.  Russia is an ally of Iran’s – not the U.S.  They have an interest in making sure there is no protection for our European allies and the former states of the USSR.

Russia is willing to come to the table?  Bwahahaha!  No – Medvedev is willing.  Medvedev is a puppet.  Putin is still pulling the strings in Russia.  Medvedev can say all he wants – but – in the background Putin is still increasing the size of their military, putting a military unit together to put on the border near Alaska, and continues to build up their nuclear arsenal.

Where did you come up with the idea that we have the capability “around the world” to shoot down long range missiles?  There are still major gaps everywhere – including Europe – that we can’t protect – therefore the need for the shield in Poland.  I used to be part of that intelligence community when I served in the USAF.  I know what our capabilities are and I know how our missile defense shields work and I know how they are supported.  In case you weren’t aware – Russia already is our enemy.  They were never our friends.

Your response regarding the U.S. Mexican border is just too long to cross-post here – so – I’ll just synopsise a few of the main points and answer them:

Bobo, it seems you have chosen to make this Obama’s problem solely, when this stuff has been plagueing the US for decades, not just two months.

Obama is the President now – so – yes – it is his problem solely.  When Bush was the President – it was his problem solely and I was pissed off at him also for not doing anything – and Clinton before him – Bush 41 before him – and I was extremely pissed when Reagan granted amnesty to millions then.  That is when we started seeing the huge surge.  Obama needs to do something.  We don’t need to cross the border when they drug cartel soldiers and runners don’t have a problem crossing the border themselves and firing on our soldiers and citizens.  What Obama needs to do is build that fence and then post sentries or increase the size of our border patrols and give them more broad powers to defend that border.

Hmmm. Even if the weapons are coming from here, which is of high debate, how would sending troops to the border address that concern?

I guess you missed this article.  There is no debate. According to that article -

Alberto Islas, a security consultant who advises the Mexican government, says the drug cartels are using the Guatemalan border to move black market weapons. Some are left over from the Central American wars the United States helped fight; others, like the grenades and launchers, are South Korean, Israeli and Spanish. Some were legally supplied to the Mexican government; others were sold by corrupt military officers or officials.

We need to send the troops to the border – not to stop the weapons – which are not actually coming from America – but to stop them from kidnapping and killing American citizens.  Did you not read that Phoenix, Arizona is the Number 2 place in the ENTIRE world for kidnappings?  The Mexican Cartel backed soldiers and drug lords are coming in to this country at will and kidnapping people off our American streets.  366 in 2008 and 359 in 2007 – JUST from Phoenix.

I can’t argue with your statement regarding American dependence on drugs.  You can blame that on the liberal and libertarian agendas who actively promote wanting to legalize drugs and telling our children for the past 30 years that doing drugs are okay.  I’ve already published a paper on adolescent substance abuse in America and it keeps pointing back to the liberal school systems.  The Monitoring the Future Report states that by the time our kids graduate from High School more than 55% of them are current users and abusers and that 90% of them get their drugs on campus.  If our schools were truly against drugs – they would make it impossible for the kids to get them there.

Here’s a Fox News article that debunks your claims about the money given to a terrorists organization.
“Obama administration officials had indicated last week that the U.S. was preparing to pledge $900 million in assistance for Gaza, but Wood’s description of the plan Sunday indicated that the only portion going directly to rebuilding Gaza was the $300 million.

Wood said that while all of the money is subject to approval by Congress, the intent is to provide about $200 million to help the Palestinian Authority shore up a budget shortfall and another $400 million to assist Palestinian institutional reforms and economic development. Wood said some of the $400 million might wind up aiding Gaza, but he said that would depend on the Palestinian Authority.

Some portion of the $900 million total U.S. pledge had already been budgeted for 2009, Wood said, adding that he could not immediately provide a breakdown.

Getting U.S. humanitarian aid quickly to Gaza is complicated by the U.S. refusal to funnel it through the Hamas militant movement that rules Gaza. The U.S. considers Hamas a terrorist organization. Wood said the U.S. aid that does not go directly to the Palestinian Authority would be funneled to Gaza through international organizations and agencies.”

Bobo, it seems, once again, you have put the cart before the horses. No money will be given to Hamas. Congressional approval is required in order for the deal to go through anyway. My only thought about this one is; I wouldn’t pledge a dime to rebuild Gaza. Food and humanitarian aid is one thing, building Gaza is another. Our road map to peace, which has always been a goal of the US, is ridiculous. It will never work as long as those two sides have fundamental differences over the whose right it is to be on the land. The other side is, if you dont rebuild Gaza, Gaza will have no economy and we will be forced to keep feeding people rather than them sustaining themselves. You pick.

Umm – Hamas is the ruling authority in Gaza.  Who do you think controls the Palestinean Authority?  The U.S. government does not consider Hamas to be a terrorist organization.  In fact – our government recognizes them as a legitimate organization.  They only thing preventing the U.S. government from dealing directly with the Hamas leadership is the need for Hamas to recognize Israel.  Other than that one point – our very left leaning government does indeed recognize them.  That article does not debunk anything of what I said.  It actually helps to support my statement.  The only people who should be providing aide and feeding Gaza are the Gazans themselves.  It is not our job to continue to protect a people who use terrorism as a bargaining tool.

On Cuba: What is the point to impose sanctions on the Cuban People? For over forty years, people in Cuba have suffered from the U.S. policies. At one time, these policies may have been necessary, but that was during the Bay of Pigs. Way outdated, and way useless. Let the people of Cuba get a taste of western life, and eventually the seeds of democracy will sprout itself. We do not need to force anything on anyone. These sanctions havent done anything but make other countries better trade partners with Cuba. We could use the revenue that trade would open up. The Cuban people could use the money to better their lives. Anyway, why would we sit back and let Russia establish better relations with a place that is 50 miles off our border? Be sensible, lest we see Russian warships docked on the coasts of Cuba. Americans are tired of the past Cuba policies. Look at the Polls. Now we have a President that is in touch with the will of the people, and willing to change idiotic policies that no longer serve any purpose.

Again – this just shows how naive you are and how out of touch you are.  I live in Florida.  There are almost no Cuban here who support lifting the sanctions.  They know how oppressive Castro is and what he has done to them and their families.  Again – just like a liberal – you blame the Cuban suffering on American policies.  The Cuban people are suffering because of Castro’s policies to keep them all down.  How can you blame the actions of a dictator who steals from his people in order to further his own agenda and lifestyle on America?  That’s ridiculous.  Do you know any Cubans?  I do.  They hate Castro.  Even though some of them still have family in Cuba – they don’t want the restrictions lifted.  Our state senator Mel Martinez is a first generation Cuban immigrant.  He came here with his family when he was a child.  He opposes the sanctions being lifted as well.  If Obama were really in touch with the people – then he would actually listen to the Cuban refugees and not lift any of the restrictions.

Regarding your reference to Russia – seriously?  Russia and Cuba are already allies.  Who do you think does the most trade with Cuba now?  Who do you think provides the weapons to Cuba?  Who do you think has been supplying them with their energy needs (besides Chavez?).  Again, you’re out of touch on this one as well.  Also – you do know where GITMO is right?  We have a very large military and naval presence in Cuba already.  I don’t think we’ll be seeing any Russian warships or bombers there any time soon.

The socialists talk you speak of is just more rightwing rhetoric that carries no weight in dealing with real world issues. All the military solutions you suggest, only serve the interests of the past empire, not a team player in the world of international relations.

And a special thank you to Bobo for providing my fire with the necessary kindling.

It’s only you guys on the left that keep your heads buried that think the “socialist talk” is just right-wing rhetoric.  Please read your history.  I don’t know how old you are – but – they actually used to teach the history of WWII, Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Mussolini, Hitler, and Lenin when I was in school.  This country at one time was heading down the path towards socialism.  Obama is repeating that exact history again with the increasing the size of government, the absolutely largest amout of government spending EVER in history, government interference in private business, government takeover of the banking system, and the like.  These are indeed socialist and fascist ideologies.  It is historical fact.  I wrote a very lengthy and detailed piece on the “isms” over at Inside Government that you should read.  I give you the entire history and the individuals involved that brought about socialism, fascism, marxism, communism, and capitalism.  If you really open your eyes, you will see that Obama and this administration are leading this country down the wrong path.  George Bush started us down the road to Socialism and Obama is just speeding it up.

Regarding your last statement and “not a team player in the world of international relations” – WTF man?  This country always has been and always will be the single most largest contributor to foreign aide in the entire world.  Despite this country’s generosity for decades – we are still seen as evil.  Even when those bastards are taking our money – they are still cursing us.  Why the hell should we really care about “the world of international relations?”  We are Americans.  We are not Europeans.  We are not Russians.  We are not Afrikaans.  We are a nation of all nations and we are Americans and we have the absolute right to defend ourselves and our sovereignty from anyone who opposes us.  We should NEVER look to the international community to decide what is right for us.

Your turn.

Well – here I sit listening to the crap that Obama is spewing tonight.  Hs speech is so disingenuous it’s not even funny.  Sure, in one breath he says the recovery of this economy requires action and not to look back at other administrations, then in the other breath he blames only Republican administration era policies for the problems.  When he was talking about how we got to this mess – he talked about energy independence – but – never once brought up drilling for oil – he’s implying green energy only…nor did he bring up the failed Clinton policy allowing (forcing) banks to give loans to people without first verifying income, identity, employment, or the ability to pay. When he’s talking about helping responsible homeowners – he’s talking about allowing those who are upside down on their mortgage refinance on my dime even if they’re not struggling to pay their bills.  How the hell is that even fiscally responsible?

In the meantime – I received an e-mail from one of my commentors – Robert Foster – with a link to a youtube video that he created.  It is titled An American Fairytale – A Tale of Warning – And of Hope.  It is his illustration of a narration by Glenn Beck of a story written by a Dr. John Rossi.  When I first heard this narration back in November on the radio it really struck a nerve with me.  It touched me and it has been with me for a while.  I am so glad that Robert found this blog and shared that video with me.  It is now my turn to share it with all of you.  If you like it – please either link back here to it – or – steal it for yourselves and post it up.

Watching this while listening to the Obamessiah really sends this message home. I would also greatly appreciate it if everyone would “buzz it”, stumble & digg it (through my “share this” link), and vote on it using the “vote” button on the bottom right so that we can get this thing out there to everyone. Enjoy!

Happy belated Valentine’s day everyone.  I hope you all had a great day yesterday!  So sorry for the late posting on this.  I had an unbelievable amount of submissions this past week.  It took a long time to get through them.  I hope you enjoy them all as much as I did.

This week’s question focuses on an assessment of the honeymoon period of the Obama Presidency.”

Between your response, Pitcairn’s response, and Hytholoday’s response to the question – I have very little to add.  I say you all hit the main points.  But, given the way the MSM completely glossed over this pork filled bill and did not hold Obama or Congress’s feet to the fire on it – I would say their lovefest with Obama is still going on.

What we do look for, or at least I look for, is some semblance of hope that the administration is on track to address and solve the problem.”

Hey Michael – Obama is taking his plays directly out of FDR’s playbook of putting fear the in the people and telling them the only way to fix it is to turn to the government for help.  He’s a socialist through and through and is advancing the agenda of big government by pointing the fingers at capitalism and big business.  Regarding Geithner – we saw how Wall Street reacted to his bogus plan.  Obama’s mistake there was letting a cheat takeover and try to tell the rest of the cheats how to run their businesses!

Ummm…socialism!  Well, I simplified it – but – I think you guys nailed it all!  Where have you been before now?  I really enjoy reading your take on the current issues.  Great post again! I’ve read all the other posts that follow this one – and – rather than comment on each of the other ones individually – I’ll just say – for all my readers – please do go check out the rest of these yourself.  These guys are really spot on with their assessments (well, if you lean Conservative or Libertarian that is).  You guys must drive the lefties as loonies as I do!

nickel presents $15,000 Homebuyer Tax Credit posted at fivecentnickel.com.

Welcome, Nickel – just out of curiousity – just how is that tax credit applied?  Most homebuyers pay their taxes through escrow and when you buy a home – you only pay the outstanding amount of property taxes through the rest of the year.  The actual purchase of the home isn’t taxed – at least here in Florida its not – you only pay property taxes.  If the purchase price of a house was taxed at local rates – who the hell could ever afford to buy a home?  Any down payment made would only be paying for the sales tax.  For example – a $300,000 home taxed at our local 7% rate would be $21,000.  So – do you know exactly how this tax credit is applied?  My annual property taxes are $2,200.  Would that credit be extended over a 4 year period?  Does the Federal Government give that tax money to the cities and counties then if it’s not coming from the homebuyer?

American Packet presents Dems Must Be Absolutely Plastered on Absolute Power posted at American Packet.

Welcome to the Carnival Packet – you are so right on track here!  Sure, the Dems may be out of their minds crazy with power – and I believe you appropriately pointed out the hypocrisy of the Republicans.  Those freakin’ idiots passed that TARP unquestioningly – and now they grow a pair?  Great post.  I hope you come back again with another great submission like this.

lsm presents A Fork in a Very Dark Road. posted at awaken the elephants blog.

“Which path will we choose?” – Well, I believe the good news is that there are many more Americans now opposing these policies of Congress and Obama (based on the outcry from this stimulus package) and that more and more people are starting to wake up and pay attention.  The politicians have been keeping Americans divided and the idiot box and American Idol have been keeping them pacified.  Unfortunately, the path I see is taking is leading either to another civil war or a complete revolution.  I see some good days coming again in the future, but, we the people are going to have to go to battle against our own government to get there.  My hopes are that enough people get to the ballot box on 2010 and vote all those idiots out this time around which will avoid the revolution.  Time will tell.

I just listened to the Geithner speech, and to tell you the truth I did not hear anything along the lines of firm direction, but to be honest it sounded like more of the same.”

Bwahahaha!  That’s what I got out of it also!  Blah blah blah, we’re not calling it TARP anymore, blah blah blah, but we’re going to do the same thing that we proposed to do in the first place blahdity blah blah.

Sarah Scrafford presents The Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate Blackberry (Obama’s) posted at Masters in Criminal Justice.

Howdy again Sarah.  The only real thing that I like about Obama is his ability to utilize today’s technology in a very cogent and effective manner.  I would say that his ability to grasp today’s technology is really what helped him to win this election.  However, regarding his use of a Blackberry – I only see some major problems coming down the road.  While I did take note of the points you made regarding the security of his blackberry – the fact that hackers can still get in to the Pentagon computers and other government computers – I have no doubt that they will eventuall get in to his blackberry.  This is a very dangerous tool for him to be using as the President.  I think he needs to give this up for at least the next 4 years.

Madeleine Begun Kane presents Hey Republicans, Go Filibuster Yourselves! posted at Mad Kane’s Political Madness.

Surely, Mad Kane, you must see just how dangerous this stimulus bill is?  Neat little poem – but – I wish the Dems would call their “bluff.”  I believe this time the Repubs would actually have gone through with it given the fact that every nobel winning, nobel laureate, and well respected economist in this country said this bill is doomed to fail and will cause this country more harm than good.  Whether the Repubs did it for political gain or not – standing against this bill was the right thing to do for this country and for the people.

steven germain presents “There Is No Such Thing As Raw, Analloyed, Agendaless Kindness” – David Foster Wallace posted at Rough Fractals, saying, “I hope you will consider posting this, thank you.”

Amen, Steven!  You are absolutely correct in that a stimulus package should be based on only measures that would actually stimulate the economy – including the infrastructure projects.  Obama was able to claim there were no earmarks in this bill because there was no one identified specifically that would receive any of the money.  Sure, that is one way to get around saying that giving money specifically to the city of San Francisco for saving a swamp rat isn’t an earmark because Nancy Pelosi wasn’t specifically identified as the benefactor – but -we all know its an earmark.  The problem is as you identified – there is no one identified in the bill as the “banker” to control how the money is spent or who will be responsible for overseeing that spending to make sure it goes only for waht it was intended.  Great post.

Nayano Taylor-Neumann presents Who will take Australian refugees? posted at A possie in Aussie.

Hi Nayano – my sympathies go out to you Aussies in the wake of that horrible firestorm you had going on over there.  But, climate change refugees?  Pretty funny.  It’s being reported over here that the fires were started due to arsons and they have been caught.  I don’t see how this is related to “climate change” myself.  Besides – we know that “climate change” is just another made up term so they don’t have to say “global warming” and embarass themselves given the fact that the science has proven we’ve been in a 7 year cooling period.

The Smarter Wallet presents Will The Obama Economic Stimulus Check and 2009 Stimulus Plan Save The Economy? posted at The Smarter Wallet, saying, “Thanks!”

Well, the I certainly believe the points you indicated in your discussion will probably help stimulate the economy in a relatively minor way – except for the fact the CBO states that very little of that money will be spent within the first year.  The problem with the stimulus package in its current form is that only 38% of it is actually stimulus.  The remaining is all pork-barrel spending.  Good post!

Piotr Stepien presents Be Mass Media Free posted at we overstep, saying, “Improve your awareness and mental health. Stop addiction to news, television shows and any low level mass media. Be mass media free and turn your time into something productive.”

Howdy Piotr – there have been many studies out there that absolutely prove beyond a shadow of doubt that the amount of hours a kid spends in front of the TV is directly proportional to their grades and knowledge.  However, there has also been a revolution with TV these days compared to when we were kids.  There are now educational channels on TV that I find very fascinating and I have learned much from them and I encourage my kids to watch them as well – Discovery Network, Science Channel, National Geographic Channel, Sprout TV, etc.  Sure, we might be getting information from the boob tube – but – at least it is more educational than watching American Idol and all those other stupid reality shows.  However, I still feel it is better to get your education through reading and hands on experience.  When you read you improve your comprehension and you have to use the little pictures in your mind to get to an understanding.  It helps to improve creativity as well.  I’m with ya on this one!

Silicon Valley Blogger presents 2009 Economic Stimulus Package: Obama’s Plan For Your Money? Tax Cuts and Spending posted at The Digerati Life, saying, “Thanks!”

“My Biggest Concerns: if you look at the charts above, it shows how the big money is going to general spending, with a large chunk reserved for “federal and state government”. And if you look into the details more carefully, you’ll see funding going to things that don’t necessarily promote economic revival.”

Well – it has been pointed out everywhere that the only thing this bill truly does is expand government and does very little at all to stimulate this economy.  As with all your posts – this ranks right up there with the best.  This is a great look at the stimulus package and what we can expect as a result.  I like your analogy of the comatose patient.

Politics

Jon Chambers presents Blind Loyalty (Article) posted at The Mind Of Jon.

Hey Jon – welcome to The Carnival!  This was a very refreshing article, Jon.  Too often I come across other bloggers and other people in my day-to-day life that are blindly supporting Obama without question.  The fact this stimulus bill passed is a great example.  While 63% of Americans opposed this bill in its form, it passed along party lines in Congress.  Congress is blindly following Obama rather than do what they are supposed to be doing – checks and balance.  Don’t get me wrong – when Congress was under Republican control – they did the same thing for Bush.  I agree that people need to get over their infatuation with Obama and start questioning him.  As a conservative, I will always be questioning his ideas and policies.  I did the same when Bush was in office.  I’m glad to see someone from the “other” side will be paying close attention as well.

Bob O presents Just What Is A Bill and How Does It Become Law? posted at Inside Government, saying, “A very detailed look at how ideas become a bill and gets put in to law – this goes beyond our elementary education from School House Rock.”

Yeah – I know – I wrote this myself and I’m tooting my own horn!  But, its still a good educational piece.

Bill Brown presents Cargo Cult Capitalism posted at The New Clarion, saying, “Why does the Third World have such trouble adopting capitalism? I use the metaphor of the post-WWII cargo cults to explain.”

Excellent post Bill – and welcome to The Carnival.  I’m glad you took the time to mention that our government’s newly found adoption of Keynesian doctrine is leading this country down the wrong path.  Capitalism only works when governments get out of the way.  Unfortunately, those third-world nations, such as Ethiopia, will never be able to recreate our success until their governments are reformed as well.  It’s just sad to see that our “great experiment” may be dying now with socialism creeping in to the government.

U.S. Common Sense presents Response to Glenn Hall: Chevron’s Big Oil Find posted at U.S. Common Sense, saying, “I know I owe you some articles. :) This article discusses the frustration related to our dependence on oil and the President’s/media’s constant practice of ignoring hydrogen power. A hydrogen economy is not only a great “stimulus/job creation” plan but it also gives us a new growth market in the future that provides a return on investment.”

U.S. – another great post as usual!  If I’m not mistaken, I believe there are already fully functional hydrogen fueled cars in South America and hydrogen fueling stations as well.  In fact, I remember reading somewhere that there are at least 50 different models that have been produced, some of them by our auto manufacturers.  Hydrogen is most definitely a cheap renewable fuel – I don’t see why we haven’t moved closer to it now!

vjack presents Investing in Infrastructure is a Matter of National Security posted at Atheist Revolution.

Hey there again, VJack – Actually, the GOP wasn’t against the infrastructure spending as it does help to stimulate the economy by providing jobs.  The GOP was standing up against things that did not actually belong in a stimulus bill like giving money for public health, saving a rat in a swamp, increasing government employee pay, and buying golf carts for federal employees in D.C.  When you look at the CBO breakdown of the bill – all infrastructure spending was placed in the stimulus side of the pie.  I do agree with you that infrastructure is a matter of national security.  Giving amnesty to illegals and providing them healthcare is not.

Piotr Stepien presents Money Free World posted at we overstep, saying, “Will politicians ever support this idea?”

Hmmm…don’t see how it could ever work.  Any form of trade and barter in an economy will have a value placed on it.  Money as we know it today would just be replaced with another system of value.  I get you are talking about a form of exchange – but – a value would have to be placed on each item to be exchanged.  At this time, it’s based on monetary values.  Nice thought though.

SpkTruth2Pwr presents New Age Curse of the Cabinet Secretary posted at The Apathy Remedy, saying, “Another Obama appointment falls by the wayside, this time on policy differences. Is acting in a post-Bush cabinet position a political curse?”

Nice to see ya again.  Just wanted to point out that Gregg didn’t withdraw his nomination because of irresolvable conflicts stemming from the stimulus package.  It has everything to do with Obama’s wishes to move the Census in to the hands of the Chief of Staff this is counter to the constitution.  According to the Constitution the Census is done at the control of Congress.  The President should not have anything to do with the census as it is a conflict.  By giving the census to Rahm Emanuel it is putting it under the President’s control.

Ron McKie presents This is awesome posted at Phuck Politics.

I’d vote for her!  She’s more than qualified than any dickhead that is currently serving in Congress.  At least she already has experience taking it in the ass!
