Those DAMNED obstructionist Republicans!!!

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: Congress, Democrats, Obama, Politics, Republicans, government

This is going to be a very short and simple post because I’m getting tired of seeing Democrat political hacks in this administration blaming “obstructionist” Republicans from preventing Obama from getting his agenda items passed.  I am no way a Republican supporter – I am not a registered Republican.  However, I think the record needs to be set straight.  We’ll let the facts speak for themselves:

Number of Total Senators = 100

Number of Democrat Senators = 58

Number of Republican Senators= 40

Number of Independent Senators = 2 (Both caucus with Democrats).

Number of votes needed to pass ANY legislation = 51

Can someone please tell me how the Republicans are obstructing anything?  Even with Scott Brown coming in – that will give the Republicans 41 votes and the Democrats 57 (not including the Independents).  The Republicans could not mount any kind of defense of any freakin bill.  So – how exactly is it that the Republicans are blocking passage of any bills in the Senate?

Total Number of Representatives in The House – 435

Total Number of Democrat Representatives = 256

Total Number of Republican Representatives – 178

Total Number of Independent Representatives = 0

There is currently 1 vacant seat.

Number of votes needed to pass ANY Legislation (51%) = 222

Again – even in the House – they have 34 more people than is required to pass legislation.  Again, the Republicans don’t have enough to mount a defense against any bill.

Between the House and The Senate – They are both controlled by a large enough majority that any bill written could be passed without a single Republican vote.  The Republicans can essentially stay at home for all of 2010 and twiddle their thumbs.  They had no power in 2009 – the have no power in 2010.  All Scott Brown will do now is enable the Republicans to mount a filibuster.  That just means that Harry Reid can no longer shut down debate whenever he feels like it.  You need 60 votes to shut down debate.  Filibusters eventually end – and – in the end – the Democrats will still have enough votes on their own without Republicans to pass whatever the hell they want.

Before you moonbats on the left start declaring Republicans as “The Party of No” and “obstructionists” I suggest you look to the Democratic party itself.  The only one’s obstructing Obama’s agenda are Democrats.  The reason they keep looking to the Republicans and blaming them is because the Democrats don’t want to be the only one’s caught holding the bag when this house of cards coming falling down.  They want to be able to point at the Republicans and say “They voted for it too!”  The Democrats own every piece of legislation passed in this country since 2007.  They and they alone are responsible for the total destruction of this economy because of their policies.  They and they alone have the majority vote without Republicans.

You see – we’re awake now – and – we know who is to blame.  Sure, Republicans are scumbags too – that’s why they are no longer in power – but – now we see who the BIGGEST scumbags are – progressive democrats that hate this country and the individual liberty and freedom it affords us.  Democrats and Obama own this mess.  Stop blaming Bush and the Republicans – they haven’t been able to mount any kind of defense in the last 4 years.

Pictures from the “House Call”

Posted by: The BoBo  //  Category: Congress, Politics, health care

I want to give a big h/t and thanks to JD for sending me these pictures.  He attended yesterday’s “House Call” put out by Michele Bachmann.  From the reports – there was an estimated 20,000+ crowd that showed up yesterday to send the message to Congress that we don’t want this so called “reform” bill shoved down on the American people.  Funny thing – the only real news that came out of this yesterday was that 8 idiot libber protesters were arrested at Joe Lieberman’s office.

The MSM is really out of touch if they focus on 8 libbers and completely dismiss the 20,000+ crowd that showed up with only a 6 day notice.  Anyway – check out these pix.  Some of the signs are pretty good – you may have to enlarge the photos to see them.

Here’s the headline:

Proposed law would require pay for sick workers

Here’s the story (all emphasis is mine):

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. employers who tell workers to stay home when they are sick will have to give them paid time off for up to five days under new federal legislation proposed on Tuesday.

First – I am getting so freakin’ sick and tired of the federal government dictating how private business should operate.  Get the fuck out of our business!!!

The emergency law would cover pandemic H1N1 flu or any other infectious disease, said California Representative George Miller, a Democrat who chairs the House Education and Labor Committee and who introduced the bill.

Of course – it’s always an “emergency” with you guys isn’t it?  For one – this particular strain is very mild.  At this time, according to the CDC, the only at risk groups are children, pregnant women, the elderly over age 65, and those who are hospitalized or have a chronic condition.  Other than the pregnant women – you generally won’t find any of the aforementioned AT WORK!

“Sick workers advised to stay home by their employers shouldn’t have to choose between their livelihood, and their co-workers’ or customers’ health,” Miller said.

Umm..no shit – they shouldn’t come to work at all if they’re sick regardless of the illness.  Don’t use this H1N1 bullshit to impose more limitations on private businesses.

“This will not only protect employees, but it will save employers money by ensuring that sick employees don’t spread infection to co-workers and customers, and will relieve the financial burden on our health system swamped by those suffering from H1N1.”

Like I said, only liberals could come up with the idea that it would save employers money by paying people to NOT WORK!  Freakin’ idiots.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises employers to encourage sick workers to stay home so they do not spread H1N1. “But workers have been reporting that many of them are either afraid or cannot afford to take time off,” Miller told reporters in a telephone briefing.

Umm…so what!  They chose to work for an employer that does not provide sick time.  My first advise to those people – get a different job!!!!!

Paid sick leave is not required by U.S. laws.

Miller said the committee would hold a hearing the week of November 16 and he would press to have a full vote as soon as possible.

Get ready to start making phone calls people!

Miller said at least 50 million American workers are not paid for time taken off sick, “many in lower-wage jobs that have direct contact with the public such as the food-service and hospitality industry, schools and health care fields.”

First – if I’m not mistaken – just one really big glaring contradiction here – “schools.”  If I’m not mistaken – public schools absolutely are required by law to provide paid sick time and vacation time.  So – yes Mr. Miller – you are an idiot.  These are public servants working on taxpayer dollars that are given every freakin’ benefit under the sun.  If you’re talking about private schools – can’t say I have ever heard of any private school that doesn’t offer paid sick time and vacation time.  You can scratch this off the list.

As for the others – call me callous – I don’t care.  If you got yourself in to a job that doesn’t pay sick time and vacation time – most likely that is because you don’t have an education and that’s the best job you could get.  Perhaps its time to go back to school and get a real job.

As for health care fields – again – really?  I have worked in laboratories, hospitals, and physician clinics.  In each case – every one of those employers offered paid sick time and paid vacation.  I would like to know one health care profession that doesn’t offer this.

This is nothing but a ruse by those libbers to stick their noses in to private business once again.  A place it doesn’t belong. Don’t buy in to those one either people.

Michele Bachmann asks for our help!

Cross posted over at Irate Nation

In case you haven’t heard – those idiots in D.C. are going to try and ram this piece of shit so-called “health reform” bill down the throats of the American people this coming Friday (11/6/09). The polls show that more than 55% of the public oppose this bill while only 35% approve – (as a side note – what’s up with that other 10% – don’t they even give a shit or what?).

As a result, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has put out a call to arms – so to speak – asking for as many people as possibly can to show up at the steps of the Capitol Building on Thursday 11/5/09. This is from her website:

WHAT: Health Care “House Call” on Washington Press Conference WHO: Republican Members of Congress Americans concerned about our health care future Other Guests – TBA

WHEN: Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 12:00-1

WHERE: East Front Steps of the U.S. Capitol (House Side)

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann released the following statement as the House of Representatives approaches a vote on the Democrats’ health care reform proposal: “The American people spoke loud and clear at town hall meetings all across the country throughout August. But, it would appear that Congress didn’t hear a word they had to say.

The Democrats’ latest health care proposal unveiled late last week may be packaged a little differently, but it’s the same old bad bill as before. “This bill is a trillion-dollar, budget-busting, government takeover of our health care system. It will put bureaucrats between people and their health care. It will lead to rationed care, hurting the most vulnerable amongst us first. It will break the bank, leaving our children to pay the bill with diminished freedoms and dwindling prosperity. “The American people need to stand up again and make sure that Congress hears them this time.

Speaker Pelosi is putting her bill on fast track to a vote – and it remains to be seen if the House will even get a chance to vote on the commonsense Republican alternatives. The people need to make a House Call on Washington this week and tell their Representatives to vote no to a government take-over of one-fifth of our economy. This is gangster government at its worst. “I urge all Americans to come to Washington this Thursday. Come and meet up with your Representative and tell them that you want to control your health care.”

If you can make it – please be there. As an added bonus, Mark Levin will be joining her. The idea is that once the rally is over, everyone who has shown up is to go and visit their representative face-to-face and let them know we don’t want this socialist piece of shit bill foisted upon Americans.

Apparently, our representatives forgot what it means to be true blue American. They would rather we all be a friendly shade of pinko socialists. If you can’t be there – please take the time out AGAIN to call your representatives and let them know that if they vote for it – you will be voting their ass out of office the next time they come up for re-election.
