He died so that we may live. Please keep him in your heart always. This is a holy weekend. Today we suffer as he did so long ago. Today we awaken with him. In his honor, I will be taking off today. Have a very Happy Easter. I will see you all again on Monday.

In the meantime, I found a very interesting post over at It is the curriculum vitae of our savior. Enjoy!

Today we celebrate, mourn, and memorialize the death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Let us not forget why he died.  In three days we rejoice the blessing of his resurrection and ascension.

Just Kidding! :)

As I recall the story of Thanksgiving taught to me the idea behind the feast was the Pilgrims inviting their fellow native neighbors to share in their bounty as a direct result of their Native American friends teaching them how to sow the seeds to plant and grow crops up there in Massachusetts.  I have not found anything elsewhere that says this is factually incorrect.  Pilgrims and Indians sitting together to enjoy a feast to give thanks.

So – only in California can something as ridiculous as this happen:

Claremont parents clash over kindergarten Thanksgiving costumes

For decades, Claremont kindergartners have celebrated Thanksgiving by dressing up as pilgrims and Native Americans and sharing a feast. But on Tuesday, when the youngsters meet for their turkey and songs, they won’t be wearing their hand-made bonnets, headdresses and fringed vests.

Parents in this quiet university town are sharply divided over what these construction-paper symbols represent: A simple child’s depiction of the traditional (if not wholly accurate) tale of two factions setting aside their differences to give thanks over a shared meal? Or a cartoonish stereotype that would never be allowed of other racial, ethnic or religious groups?

Hmmm…what the hell does that last sentence mean?  Since when is wearing traditionally, and factually accurate, costumes become a cartoonish stereotype?

“It’s demeaning,” Michelle Raheja, the mother of a kindergartner at Condit Elementary School, wrote to her daughter’s teacher. “I’m sure you can appreciate the inappropriateness of asking children to dress up like slaves (and kind slave masters), or Jews (and friendly Nazis), or members of any other racial minority group who has struggled in our nation’s history.” have got to be kidding me?!?!?  Comparing the Thanksgiving day feast to Nazis and Slave owners?  You need to just shut the hell up lady and move on!  Get over yourself!  These are kids enjoying century old traditions practiced by millions before them!  What the hell crawled up your ass?  Are you seriously trying to deny the fact that your ancestors wore that type of clothing – despite the FACT there is evidence of it?

Raheja, whose mother is a Seneca, wrote the letter upon hearing of a four-decade district tradition, where kindergartners at Condit and Mountain View elementary schools take annual turns dressing up and visiting the other school for a Thanksgiving feast. This year, the Mountain View children would have dressed as Native Americans and walked to Condit, whose students would have dressed as Pilgrims.

Raheja, an English professor at UC Riverside who specializes in Native American literature, said she met with teachers and administrators in hopes that the district could hold a public forum to discuss alternatives that celebrate thankfulness without “dehumanizing” her daughter’s ancestry.

You elitist snobby bitch!  How the hell is asking children to dress up in factually traditional clothing “dehumanizing?”  What is your agenda?  Why are you trying to ruin Thanksgiving?  Did you have a bad experience as a child or something?  Why would you deny your own child the pleasure of enjoying and learning about the Thanksgiving feast?  She’s only 5 years old for crying out loud!

There is nothing to be served by dressing up as a racist stereotype,” she said.

What?!?!?!?  Sounds to me like you’re actually ashamed of your heritage.  It is NOT a racist stereotype.  Your ancestors wore ornamental headdresses on special occasions and ceremonies!  I guess the Seminole Indians here in Florida who dress up in traditional ceremonial headdresses are degrading THEMSELVES?  You’re an idiot!

Aaaghhh.  I’m done with this.  I am so tired of some PC elitist pricks out there trying to ruin EVERY damned tradition we have in this country.  It’s bad enough they’re attacking Christmas on a regular annual basis – NOW they have to add Thanksgiving too?  What’s next?  Easter?  Is some PC idiot going to start complaining that somehow it is an anti-gay Holiday because we paint eggs in rainbow colors – or – the Easter bunny wears pink so that is also somehow anti-gay?  Is PETA going to jump all over Easter because it demoralizes rabbits and chickens everywhere?

If you want to read the rest of the story – click that link up there.  These people just piss me off!  I’ll just have to add another “thankful”  around my table this week – that being – I’m thankful there are enough common sense people out there who are actually standing up against these PC nutjobs for once.
