Wow – I guess when it goes 2 weeks between carnivals – it gets pretty busy!  We have 23 submissions to choose from this week.  If this is your first time back since the last carnival – you have undoubtedly noticed the new look.  I had some technical difficulties that I was able to resolve last week – and in the meantime – I updated my blog design.  I hope you like  it.

Now – on with the carnival – over the last 2 weeks we have had a lot of activity in the political world – the variety of posts to choose from reflects the plethora of subjects we all could have chosen to blog these past weeks.  I know I had difficulty picking my topics – there were just so many to choose and I had very little time – ergo – I could only pick one at a time rather than blog all of them on my mind. Thankfully, we have some talented bloggers who covered them.  As always – please visit the contributors’ blogs and let them know what you think of their submissions.

Enjoy

Dividist presents Budget Bolero Ballet Begins posted at Divided We Stand United We Fall, saying, “The problem is not with what President Obama says. His message is spot on. The problem is with what he does. The problem is that, despite what he says, the budget he is proposing does not reduce spending. He says we need to “live within our means”. His budget does not. He says we need to “cut back” on spending. His budget increases spending.”

Last week, in the Republican controlled House of Representatives, despite Speaker of the House John Boehner supporting the continued funding of the unneeded engine, it was finally defeated. Kudos to the new crop of Tea Party supported freshmen Republican representatives who stood up to their own leadership.”

Sorry for getting this out late this evening – it has been a VERY busy weekend.  I have little BoBo in the Cub Scouts AND Soccer – I’m actually coaching his team. We had a game Saturday morning, then had to run out and buy him his uniform for Cubs – then we had to build his Pinewood Derby car this weekend since the race is next weekend.  We didn’t get much time to put this together.  In addition to that the Stillers played yesterday and their potential opponents (The Jets) played this evening.  Finally got a chance to breathe!  I’ll have to get a picture of his car up here soon.  While I did the hard stuff – cutting the wood and putting on the wheels, he did everything else.  He designed the car and I just gave him the shape.  He picked the colors and everything else.  I also had to do the spray painting.  He tried but he just can’t push the button down yet.  Maybe next year.  Given this was our very first car – it came out looking pretty cool.

Anyway – as always – please check out the contributors blogs and let them know what you think of their submission(s).

Enjoy!

Happy New Year everyone.  I hope you all had a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year celebration.  This edition is the first of the year and kicks off 2011 with a bang!  We have 36 submissions to get through – I guess when you take two weeks off they can really stack up!

Before we get started with the Carnival – I just wanted to say something about the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords in Arizona – apparently, she was shot through the brain and is still in critical condition – my thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family, Judge John Roll, and all those others killed or injured.  I hope she can make a recovery.  Given the bullet went through her brain – we’ll have to see the final outcome.  As for the nutjob that shot her – I won’t put his name out here to give him more press – the thing that pisses me off the most about this whole thing is that the loony leftards were real quick to come out as soon as the news broke to say this guy was a rightwing nutjob egged on by conservative talk radio and people like Sarah Palin.  The Sheriff was quick to politicize the whole thing and make it about so-called bigotry – he is pro-illegal immigration and is against the Arizona immigration law.

Congresswoman Giffords is considered a moderate and sometime sides with the Republicans on some issues.  Did it ever occur to everyone that the nutjob who shot her was a radical leftists who thought she was too far to the right?  As it turns out – he personally stated that his favorite books are The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf by Hitler.  These are hardly the reading choices of anyone on the right. As we have seen time and again over the last 40 decades – those who are the most prone to violence and commit such crimes have always turned out to be radical loony leftards.  Get over it – the Tea Party and conservatives had nothing to do with this – this was another case of a deranged liberal that couldn’t hold it in.

Now that I’ve said my piece – let’s get on to the Carnival.  There are some great submissions – I thank all those who submitted and I encourage my readers to go visit each of the bloggers’ sites and let them know what you think of their articles.

What do they think has been going on for the past two years, when Democrats controlled both chambers and the White House and put us further in debt than the first 100 Congresses combined? Gridlock in Congress is the best prescription for helping our economy recover.”

A recession is often the painful but necessary market mechanism that corrects the pricing distortion and consequent misallocation of capital that occurs in a bubble. When misguided government intervention prevents the mispriced asset class from fully deflating, capital continues to be misallocated and economic malaise lingers on. This is the takeaway message from Peter Schiff’s recent Wall Street Journal editorial.”
