Welcome to the playoff weekend edition of the BoBo Carnival of Politics.  Not that any of the submissions are related to the playoffs – just that it occurs today.  Hoping to see my Stillers back in it again!

We have some really great submissions this week.  There are a couple here that I found were not directly related to politics – but I left them here because they were interesting – see if you can find them. Enjoy

Sorry for getting this out late this evening – it has been a VERY busy weekend.  I have little BoBo in the Cub Scouts AND Soccer – I’m actually coaching his team. We had a game Saturday morning, then had to run out and buy him his uniform for Cubs – then we had to build his Pinewood Derby car this weekend since the race is next weekend.  We didn’t get much time to put this together.  In addition to that the Stillers played yesterday and their potential opponents (The Jets) played this evening.  Finally got a chance to breathe!  I’ll have to get a picture of his car up here soon.  While I did the hard stuff – cutting the wood and putting on the wheels, he did everything else.  He designed the car and I just gave him the shape.  He picked the colors and everything else.  I also had to do the spray painting.  He tried but he just can’t push the button down yet.  Maybe next year.  Given this was our very first car – it came out looking pretty cool.

Anyway – as always – please check out the contributors blogs and let them know what you think of their submission(s).

Enjoy!

Happy New Year everyone.  I hope you all had a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year celebration.  This edition is the first of the year and kicks off 2011 with a bang!  We have 36 submissions to get through – I guess when you take two weeks off they can really stack up!

Before we get started with the Carnival – I just wanted to say something about the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords in Arizona – apparently, she was shot through the brain and is still in critical condition – my thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family, Judge John Roll, and all those others killed or injured.  I hope she can make a recovery.  Given the bullet went through her brain – we’ll have to see the final outcome.  As for the nutjob that shot her – I won’t put his name out here to give him more press – the thing that pisses me off the most about this whole thing is that the loony leftards were real quick to come out as soon as the news broke to say this guy was a rightwing nutjob egged on by conservative talk radio and people like Sarah Palin.  The Sheriff was quick to politicize the whole thing and make it about so-called bigotry – he is pro-illegal immigration and is against the Arizona immigration law.

Congresswoman Giffords is considered a moderate and sometime sides with the Republicans on some issues.  Did it ever occur to everyone that the nutjob who shot her was a radical leftists who thought she was too far to the right?  As it turns out – he personally stated that his favorite books are The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf by Hitler.  These are hardly the reading choices of anyone on the right. As we have seen time and again over the last 40 decades – those who are the most prone to violence and commit such crimes have always turned out to be radical loony leftards.  Get over it – the Tea Party and conservatives had nothing to do with this – this was another case of a deranged liberal that couldn’t hold it in.

Now that I’ve said my piece – let’s get on to the Carnival.  There are some great submissions – I thank all those who submitted and I encourage my readers to go visit each of the bloggers’ sites and let them know what you think of their articles.

Scott Spiegel presents Rush Deconstructed for the Media Matters Crowd posted at Scott Spiegel, saying, “Media Matters regularly collects “controversial” quotes by conservative personalities and displays them on its website. Scott Spiegel presents Trusting Liberals Is Now Just a Thing of the Past posted at Scott Spiegel, saying, “In 2000 the British paper The Independent ran a story with the wistful headline “Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past.””

Scott Spiegel presents Can We Shut Down the Government Even If We Raise the Debt Ceiling? posted at Scott Spiegel, saying, “In a recent article on the upcoming 112th Congress, the Associated Press warned that gridlock between the Republican House and Democratic Senate might result in a failure to act that “could threaten the nation’s economic health.” Are they kidding? What do they think has been going on for the past two years, when Democrats controlled both chambers and the White House and put us further in debt than the first 100 Congresses combined? Gridlock in Congress is the best prescription for helping our economy recover.”

With rising unemployment and the dwindling tax base. Coupled with printing money to keep the bloated government running and the lack of productivity. A recession is often the painful but necessary market mechanism that corrects the pricing distortion and consequent misallocation of capital that occurs in a bubble. When misguided government intervention prevents the mispriced asset class from fully deflating, capital continues to be misallocated and economic malaise lingers on. This is the takeaway message from Peter Schiff’s recent Wall Street Journal editorial.”

They are voting Republican to divide the government in the hope of reining in the Democratic agenda and restoring some semblance of fiscal rationality. Yes – I know – It is a day late. Sorry – decided to take a quick weekend vacation over at the land of the mouse again. When you only live 70 miles away from the largest playground in the country – it’s really hard to resist – especially these days given our political climate and the dickheads we have running this country. November 2 can’t get here fast enough!

Please enjoy the following submissions and be sure to visit their blogs. Check out Mad Kane’s limerick – she’s obviously listening to or reading some really leftist propaganda shit – haven’t heard that one at all.

Wenchypoo provides some great wisdom as usual – However, just a warning – while she finds indications that China is crumbling – just remember – they also have pretty much cornered the gold market right now. They may me moving closer to Capitalism and further away from Communism – but – in my eye – that is a good thing. The bad thing is they are still our enemy.

Also – be sure to check out Dividist’s (or as I know him, DWSUWF) perspective on the Angle/Reid debate last week.  I bet there will be more “None of the Above” votes than anything in Nevada.  That will probably be a bad thing for Reid.

Conservative

Scott Spiegel presents Bigotry In Between Every Line posted at Scott Spiegel, saying, “In a desperate, last-ditch attempt to salvage their miserable midterm election prospects, Democrats have been tarnishing Republicans and Tea Partiers with the smear of—wait for it… racism!”

smrtas1 presents Obama Town Hall Filled With Actors posted at Conservative Patriot HQ.

Buck presents Tax Facts: What do the Rich do for us? posted at Buck Says, saying, “Is being wealthy now a bad thing?”

Democrat

Silicon Valley Blogger presents Should There Be An Unemployment Benefits Extension? posted at The Digerati Life, saying, “Thanks!”

NP!  Me, personally, being the conservative that I am – I would have to say no.  In fact, I truly believe we need to do away with unemployment benefits altogether.  There is nothing in our Constitution that allows the government to take money from employers in order to distribute it to people they have fired or laid off.  It is a form of charity and wealth redistribution that our founding fathers warned against.  This just makes more slaves to the government and kills human ingenuity as it breeds dependence.

Independent

Dividist presents “None Of The Above” kicks ass in Nevada Senate debate. posted at Divided We Stand United We Fall, saying, “Dear People of Nevada, I just watched your Senate debate, and I am just so… so… sorry. I feel so bad for you. Really. I mean – WTF?? Look, I don’t know how this happened, but you really should try and avoid choices like this in the future…”

Libertarian

Aaron Powell presents Perspectives on Coercion posted at Aaron Ross Powell.

Susan Kilroy presents 10 Infamous Police Scandals posted at Criminal Justice Degrees Guide.

Wenchypoo presents Communist China is Falling Down…Falling Down…Falling Down posted at Wisdom From Wenchypoo’s Mental Wastebasket, saying, “I find it funny that like Cuba, China is starting to crumble from the INSIDE.
